I thought I was drinking enough, but now I'm not sure. It's actually making me really miserable. I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I don't want to dread 'going' for the next week.

Is it too late to drink lots more water when you're already backed up?

Edited to add: I'm worried that this is going to be the thing that stops me using MJ, and I really really need this to work!

Edited

I suffer from this, not just when on MJ. No form of laxative appears to work for me, other than Milk of Magnesia, which can also be used as a laxative.

A bottle is about 6 quid and it shows you the dosage to be used as a laxative on the label - honestly it’s a life saver. I use it once a week and within 4 hours everything is gone without cramps or anything.

Maybe give it a try?

For those of you who enjoy a bit of science the article link below is a very readable summary of various pieces of research into the way GLP1 work in the body. It illustrates very nicely why this class of drugs has the wide range of effects many of us are experiencing ie addictions.

This Mornings NSV, I had to help out in another department for an hour which meant wearing scrubs. I got into the XL top and bottom instead of the usual xxxl top and xxl bottom. (Still resemble a telly tubby but a smaller one !!)

Post menopausal body shape is weird. Hoping to see signs of a waist at some point in the future, but still have 5 stone + to go so I have to be patient.

Add in a laxative, eg Movicol. No need to suffer. Here’s a summary of the options:

Definitely also drink lots of water.

mjdle · 15/08/2024 10:40

@pinktransit how long have you been on MJ, we have similar starting weight. Great loss, I can't wait to be in the 9's but struggling to get under 10.10 at the moment. 8 weeks and I'm just about to move up to 7.5 today but thinking I might rotate up slowly as didn't feel great after last weeks jab x

@mjdle - I started at the end of March, so nearly 5 months. I'm definitely a slow loser - it took 14 weeks to get to 10:10, so if you're there in 8 weeks you're doing well!

This sounds fabulous - can you buy it in a supermarket, do you think? Thank you 😊

CeruleanDive · 15/08/2024 11:12

Don't think these are mentioned on that link, @Forevafatty, but they can be very helpful to get things moving, usually within 10 mins or so. Most chemists stock them.

@NewLifter
I'm not sure about this. One group was taken down this week (the one linked with Oushk pharmacy - Mounjaro UK) but we were told this was an issue with the new group photo which broke the rules for advertising meds. Not sure if someone complained or what. No mention, that I saw, that this was to do with dosing advice, etc and a back up group was immediately put up with new photo and group rules which don't prohibit this type of discussion either. It's all a bit strange...

Oh I noticed there was a group that had curate name /logo in their group image. So maybe it was that group that got closed. As they did seem linked to curate and seemed to promote them etc.

OP posts:
NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 15/08/2024 11:24

I'm in an fb group and honestly don't think they should be allowed. Lots of misinformation nd deluded posts in there.

A lot along the lines of "I've been eating 800 cals a day for 4 weeks and not lost a pound!!" and people just advising them to move up to the next dose or double inject their pen without considering it may be a medical issue, and then when you say to go to a GP the people in the group say they know better than GPs anyway!

NewLifter · 15/08/2024 11:28

Yeh the FB groups are a bit nuts, aren't they?

I just read about a woman who's lost 3 stone in 7 weeks eating max 700 calories a day, with loads of replies congratulating her 😔 I can't bring myself to do so as I honestly don't believe it's possible to maintain that or to properly nourish your body on so little food.

Apologies if anyone here is in that boat - I appreciate we are all on the same journey and I aim to be supportive!

ObsidianTree · 15/08/2024 11:36

Oh the Facebook group that supports Curate is still open! Maybe they will be closed soon then! They have curate code in their group photo! So the admin is probably making money by having their code in the group banner!

Yes they definitely do - it’s on more staple shopping list 😂 it’s in a blue bottle with the gaviscon etc. I usually for 60mls and it sorts me right out. Keep us updated!

Btrsun10 · 15/08/2024 11:51

ObsidianTree - thank you so much for the work you have done on these thread. I dont post much but have read since thread 1 and gained so much valuable information.

I'm delighted for you that you are nearing the end of your loss journey and hopefully moving into maintenance soon. I hope you will keep us updated on your progress and how things are working for you?

I'm also in the slooooow loser club!

16lbs in 12 weeks (started week 13 on Sunday past). However, I'm delighted with that! I know for a fact I would have put on weight during those 12 weeks so to have 16 off is amazing.
I'm happy to be slow and steady, no one knows (except the dr) and I want to keep it that way.

There has been so much chat in my work and friends circles about MJ/OZ and the attitudes around it are so awful....I could not deal with the scrutiny of it all.
I am happy for no one to notice although I have had comments that a top looks nice or that my hair looks different. I'll take those over the dreaded....o you've lost weight, how have you done it comments?!
Everyone knows I have problems with my joints so when the time comes when it is noticeable I'll frame it around the fact that I couldnt go on with the pain and had to do something once and for all.

I tried OZ last year. I did not lose 1lb. It was awful, I was so sick and the dark cloud that came over me was frightening. I had to stop as I could not sleep and found it very difficult to get out of bed. Never again.

I was anxious starting MJ but as it turned out I'm also one that has had minimal side effects. Apart from a day of 2 tiredness when I step up a dose, I've been feeling pretty good. I cannot believe the difference between OZ and MJ.

I can also eat whatever I want.....fried foods, high fat, crisps, chocolate, bread. The list could go on and on. Obviously, I'm limiting those foods but not cutting them out altogether. Not experienced any sickness luckily. I'm still on 5mg but think I may step up to 6mg this weekend? I want to stay as low as I can for as long as possible to retrain my eating habits. I dont mind having to use some will power as I most definitely will have to once I get to maintenance.

Good luck to all of you on your journey. It's an amazing community here and I'm so grateful to have discovered you all way back when!

Way back in the day it was routine for people to have a dose of milk of magnesia at the weekend ‘to keep things regular’.

I totally understand if the suppression is that high for you you have the odd day at 700 cals

But if you're purposefully eating that low, you're an idiot. It's not enough and when you come off the jabs you'll gain it all back.

I'm mindful of the fact I've not been eating enough, and I just felt really rough after the gym, so I've come home and had a yoghurt before my lunch - is it the healthiest choice on the planet? No. But it's also not healthy to starve yourself to that extreme.

Yes I haven't rejoined the new Mounjaro UK page which replaced the original as I'd had enough of its nonsense and get all I need, and more, from MN. There is an Oushk Support FB group which is better, some good educational videos, live chats, etc and much less irresponsible input from people who think they know best. But FB always gonna FB so it's not the place I'd go if I needed advice or support.

Morning, sorry for the unpleasant topic, but is pysillium husk not really working for anyone else? I've been taking it everyday, but still struggling to actually go without pain 😳. Anyway got any other suggestions, please? Thank you!

It doesn't work for me either, I'm on prescribed laxido so I've upped my dose on that.

Prune juice will work but be prepared not to leave the toilet. I was hospitalised with an impacted bowel after surgery and morphine use (terrible stuff for slowing down motility) and the only thing that shifted it was 3 litres of weapons grade prune juice.

Goodness I agree about the bonkers FB page.

You'd think people couldn't read! Hundreds of posts, all saying exactly the same thing.

And the misspellings. Urgh.

TheShellBeach · 15/08/2024 12:54

Honestly, senna is the easiest and cheapest laxative.

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 15/08/2024 13:02

Hi All

Will be jab 26 tomorrow as I hit the 6 month mark next week. Am still rocking an extra 1kg from two weekends in a row of holiday/visitor/birthday so am at 86kg instead of my low from 3 weeks ago of 85kg.
This is still a 12kg loss in 6 months, so about 1lb per week and am on 10mg.
Yes I'm in the slow losers club, but I haven't been this weight since before I got married 18 years ago so am still winning.
I've had comments from MIL of 'you're looking skinny', my senior manager ask if I'm shrinking, and my neighbour saying every time she sees me there's less of me.
Only my DH, MIL, bestie and neighbour know about MJ, all of them have had their own struggle with weight gain and have been so supportive.
Senior manager was very sweet and asked in a sensitive way in private and when I said I was trying to shrink she said well done it's not easy (no idea whether she's had struggles previously, she's not a larger lady). These are the only comments so far, but am seeing family next week so there will probably be more.
It's weird, I still feel the same as I did before MJ, I knew I was heavy and had come to terms with it and refused to apologise for it. Was 18/20 stretchy clothes, now a comfortable 16/vanity sized 14. Long way to go, although only 2 kg away from non-obesity (hurrah!) - had hoped to get to BMI sub 30 by next week but it wasn't to be.
Definitely have suppression in that I feel full quicker, and the gastro symptoms I first had on 10mg have eased. Still struggling with my sleep. Another 6 months and I'll finally get to start titrating ADHD meds (unless it gets pushed back even further) - poor sleep and seeking dopamine from sugar have been the main reasons for my excess weight, so that's something I still need to work on.

Absolutely kills me too - Milk of magnesia has been the only thing that consistently works for me, not psyllium husk, suppositories, senna or the other commonly sold drug, but everyone is different.

Soon as I found MOM it is now my weekly go to!

Yes! I barely go on the groups now but when I do it's always the same questions!

Was just having a read on one and someone was grumbling as they haven't lost much by the 3rd week or something! I don't know how people can be arsed to reply to those types of threads anymore! Also the amount of times I've seen people posting about discovering there is a bit left in the pen after their 4 injection! 🤦

I’ve had quite a lot of days where I’ve been physically unable to eat more than 700 calories (or less, to be honest) but it wasn’t deliberate. I’ve had to go down in dosage a couple of times so that I’ve been able to eat a decent amount.
