You’ve done a fabulous job with the threads @ObsidianTree, thank you for taking the time to do this. It was these threads that helped me decide that Mounjaro might work for me and your input and detailed info reassured me that it would be safe to use x

BellaCriesAndThatsAlright · 13/08/2024 07:40

Thanks @ObsidianTree very glad to hear you are close to maintenance.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 13/08/2024 07:42

Hi all, I made it up to 10mg. Decided to stay on that so have my second pen ready to go however I've had a two week break (for various reasons) so thinking I should probably take half the dose to restart.

Am I right by the pinned post that each pen is 60 clicks. So week 1 normally would be 15, so to half it I should just make it 7/8 clicks? Or am I completely wrong?!

SlimforXmas · 13/08/2024 07:44

Morning all, I’m continuously motivated by the fabulous losers on this thread!

I’ve just found out I need to have surgery at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone else had had surgery while on MJ? My surgeon doesn’t know about it and I will need to tell him and the anaesthetist. DH also doesn’t know about it so not sure how I will navigate that and avoid the judgment 😞

They will need to know as you will likely need to stop before the surgery due to the slow emptying of your stomach

I can't imagine your husband would judge you? I really thought my family and friends would judge me but they were all so supportive, I can't imagine your husband will judge?

Yes a full dose of any strength pen is 60 clicks.

No, each dose is 60. So to get half, you need 30 clicks.

This might be a silly question but what do we need supplementary electrolytes for? I mean, what am I missing by not buying them?

Actually, you don’t. Waste of money in most cases. I salt my food, normally, not excessively. I take magnesium citrate specifically for muscle cramping which I get because I do weight/resistance training. I take a cheap Lidl multivitamin.
Now I will be flamed😬

Thank you. I couldn’t think of any harm I was coming to by not having them but didn’t know if I was missing something obvious!

I put in the fridge immediately, because I wasn’t going to start it for another month or so. I also contacted Eli Lilly for an assessment to advise if my pen is good to use (safe and efficient), they said that based on the conditions it was and that I can put it in the fridge and use by the expiry date, and the 30 day countdown starts only after first injection.

Thank you!

I did think that was hardly anything. Just went back and did a further 20 odd clicks. Thanks!

NippyCrab · 13/08/2024 08:36

How many clicks is 3.75 dose if I get a 5mg pen next time?
@ObsidianTree thank you for giving us the thread it's been great to have support and read about different side effects and tips too xxx

@ObsidianTree Thank you for all your hard work setting up and continuing these threads. Through your writing, support and sage advice you have changed many lives and led numerous people towards happy and healthier futures. Thank you!

Ifyounevergiveup · 13/08/2024 09:12

@ObsidianTree end of an era! Thank you so much for all you’ve done and best wishes for your continuing journey. Your experiences of maintenance would be just as valuable! Wish I had the familiarity to pick up the reins but I’m sure someone more techy will come forward

NippyCrab · 13/08/2024 09:13

Not by me! Balanced healthy diet, plenty of fluids, salt, and a good quality, woman's over 50s multi-vitamin (Centrium - on subscription from Amazon, less than a fiver a month) is doing it for me. Have similar feelings about the quantities of protein rich shakes and foods (UPF) some people are buying at huge expense. No problem when time is short or you're feeling crap but twice a day, every day, instead of proper meals? We're not elite athletes.

Callmejudith · 13/08/2024 09:32

Thanks so much @ObsidianTree you've done an amazing job

FarriersGirl · 13/08/2024 09:33

@ObsidianTree Thank you for your work on this group. It has been invaluable to me and many others.
@KrankyKumquat @Moanranger I absolutely agree on the healthy balenced diet and would even go a bit further to say that building regular healthy eating habits for the future [after MJ] is also key to success.

NeedSomeAnswersPlease · 13/08/2024 09:34

Ive seen a lot on here about fatty foods etc, for dinner I'm thinking of having gammon (bought before I started the jabs), is this likely to give me a reaction? I'll grill it and have it with peas, an egg and some boiled potatoes I think - I doubt I'll be able to finish it!

We're all different but i think I could eat gammon OK, it's reasonably lean isn't it. For some reason, potatoes however, in any form, really give me the ick now. Haven't had any in 3 months, even left some Jersey new potatoes a while back and I wouldn't thank you for a chip!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 13/08/2024 09:41

If nobody else will do it, I am happy to continue the threads when this one is done.

I've got another 30+kg to lose and these threads have been a massive life line for me, and I've got a surplus of time on my hands lately.

These threads inspired me to swap to mounjaro and I don't think I'd have lost at all without them.

Thank you @ObsidianTree I hope we keep seeing your name pop up from time to time on new threads just so you can remind us of the success hard work earns you.

When drinking water, can no sugar squash count towards the total?

It does but be aware that artificial sweetners aren't very healthy and there have been some studies about how they can have a negative effect in terms of hunger and sugar cravings.

You would be better to use a slice of lemon/lime/orange/strawberry if you struggle with plain water.

You can also get herbal tea bags for flavouring cold water.

Fromthesidelines · 13/08/2024 10:04

@ObsidianTree Thank you for all your work on these threads. My MJ journey would have been a very lonely one without them. I hope you will update us with your progress and maintenance going forward.

WoolyMammoth55 · 13/08/2024 10:18

So happy for you @ObsidianTree to be nearly at maintenance!! You're a legend for hostessing these threads so amazingly for so long. Have all my thanks and love and best wishes please FlowersFlowersFlowers
