I took my first jab on Friday at lunch time. I just swing between feeling so hungry I can't eat as I feel like I'm going to be sick and not being at all hungry as I feel so sick. For me it feels like that awful sensation of early pregnancy morning sickness where you needed to eat to prevent sickness but would end up feeling worse. And the disturbed sleep. Urgh

Please tell me it gets better.

I have lost 4 lb but tbh I'd have lost that with a mild day stomach bug and probably felt more human 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

The point of the 2.5mg dose is to get your body used to the medication so yes, it gets better when that has happened! And I guess you’d have to have a stomach bug every single week to continue losing weight like that 😁

@3wDavid the glass/bottle you're drinking water from makes allll the difference, you are absolutely right. I also feel the same way about the spoon I eat breakfast with.

That spoon is so funny. My OH has a funny little cheap fork which he insists on always using - god knows why but seems to keep him happy 😊

KrankyKumquat · 12/08/2024 19:15

@WitchyBits
It's a tricky one. I'm at week 13 and on 7.5 and the not wanting to eat has been constant. However, I just tell myself this is appetite suppression so is what I'm paying for and the reason I've lost nearly 3 stone. The feeling is perhaps unfamiliar to us as we're so used to being very hungry, most of the time, and eating too much to resolve it!

The downside to this is that I have to push myself to eat everyday - I do but feel like I could very easily not bother. So I tend to eat little and often and particularly struggle with eating in the mornings so stick with brunch instead - I find a crumpet (only 90 calories) a good option to line and settle my tummy.

I've never been sick though or even close and perhaps speak to your prescriber if this happens to you - some people take anti-nausea meds to help with this.

imnottoofussed · 12/08/2024 19:40

For electrolytes I've been taking the Cherry electrotide ones from will powders they are a diuretic and an electrolyte so stop water retention but hydrate you. Depending on the time of day that I take it or what I've eaten beforehand I either like them or hate them 😂 so sometimes I can drink it like a normal drink, other times I have to neck it pretty quickly.

I normally suffer with swollen feet and ankles in hot weather and I've had none of that since starting these a month ago.

The cherry ones are now out of stock so gonna try the citrus ones next

ItsAlrightDarling · 12/08/2024 19:41

This might be a silly question but what do we need supplementary electrolytes for? I mean, what am I missing by not buying them?

GoSummer676 · 12/08/2024 20:09

If you want a cheap “electrolyte” just put dash of salt into a glass of squash or add dash of salt & 1/2tsp sugar to water add dash lemon juice does pretty much the same thing. I used to do HM run training using this in my bottle or you can get these in lemon or blackcurrant www.superdrug.com/health/stomach-digestive-care/diarrhoea-relief/diorahydrate-effervescent-tablets/p/804511

ToriMJ · 12/08/2024 20:24

Anyone spacing their doses out?
I've done x4 at 2.5. Due next 2.5 tomorrow but my suppression is really strong still

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/08/2024 20:31

If anyone is looking for a podcast with some positive and thought provoking stuff about GLP1s, listen to Diary of a CEO - The Ozempic Expert, Dr Tyna Moore. It's fascinating hearing about the non-diabetes and weight related impacts!

Hi @3wDavid, hoping you can advise. I've had the exact same issue with a warm pen from Pharmulous, so it's encouraging to hear your pen is fine for use. When you received it warm, did you put it back in the fridge or leave it out? I've currently got a warm pen and not sure whether to leave it out or put it back in the fridge. I don't need to use it for another 3 weeks or so.

DietStartsM0NDAY · 12/08/2024 21:25

Evening all you fabulous losers!
Just administered my first 7.5 dose and was so busy worrying about counting clicks (as I actually only wanted to give myself 6.5mg) that I forgot to prime the pen first 😳
Can anyone reassure me by having done the same and were ok, or anyone medical that can tell me I haven't done myself a mischief?

Thanks - can't believe I messed it up 🤯

It's such a tiny amount I wouldn't worry about it

It's fine. You prime the pen to ensure there isn't air in the needle and to spot if the pen is jammed. But it doesn't matter if you inject a tiny amount of air into yourself subcutaneously. (I did a lot of research on this before using an insulin syringe for my first bonus dose as there was a small bubble in my syringe that I couldn't get out. I am still alive to write this message.)

Choux · 12/08/2024 21:45

Also re priming I find that if I put the needle on and then without clicking push the plunger there is almost always a tiny drop of liquid on the needle so I rarely prime it by clicking to zero. I save every drop for the bonus dose!

DietStartsM0NDAY · 12/08/2024 21:46

Thanks @Choux and @ToriMJ

Exactly that, I know it isn't great to inject air in a normal injection, but wasn't sure if it was as serious with sub cut jabs.
As a massive overthinker you have reassured me before bedtime 😁 thank you both

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/08/2024 21:55

@Keepthepeace82 This hasn't happened to me but I think others have said to put it in the fridge until you use it.
I actually leave mine in the fridge all the time and just take it out an hour before jabbing

RachelGreensHair · 12/08/2024 22:25

When drinking water, can no sugar squash count towards the total?

I asked this question of a very experienced nurse yesterday. Because it's subcutaneous, a tiny bit of accidental air is not an issue.

A tiny bit of accidental air is a big problem if you're injecting a substance into a vein, but they wouldn't trust anyone non medical with canulas and those types of needles.

@QueenOfHiraeth thanks so much! I've put it back in the fridge and have hoped for the best. Happy to send it back to them for a replacement!

RachelGreensHair · 12/08/2024 22:44

Thank you. Drinking so much water has made me hate water lol, gonna order some fresh mint and cucumber and squash.

Lastchancefatty · 13/08/2024 06:30

Not been on for a while as its been all busy in my life but place marking a bit to say..... I have knees and a chin! I have lost weight before and not had such a vast change in these specific areas but I can't stop touching them 😂 collar bone too

I put in the fridge immediately, because I wasn’t going to start it for another month or so. I also contacted Eli Lilly for an assessment to advise if my pen is good to use (safe and efficient), they said that based on the conditions it was and that I can put it in the fridge and use by the expiry date, and the 30 day countdown starts only after first injection.

You’re fine, the injection is only subcutaneous so even if there was a small bubble it wouldn’t do any harm.

Morning all, I've decided that I want to step down from continuing this thread. Feel I am closer to maintenance so would like to step away from keeping this thread going.

So when this thread finishes can someone please continue it?

I'll still pop in from time to time, but would prefer to pass this on.

Thanks 😊
