Slow losers club! (Ozempic, wegovy, mountjaro etc)

There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

I’m another slow loser who’s just jumped over from the main thread and yes @LeafUsAlone the lack of side effects is a massive plus for me, I was on Wegovy before mounjaro (didn’t lose on it) but had awful acid reflux even if I’d been losing weight I don’t think I could have lived with that long term.

I’m living a normal life on mounjaro, I still enjoy my food and can eat and drink anything I want with no nasty gastric consequences, I’m not tracking or counting (have previous history of getting obsessive) just eating smaller portions and not snacking so it feels very easy/effortless and definitely sustainable long term.

Hi everyone. So I currently have two x 12.5mg pens in the fridge as I took advantage of a couple of special offers. I have one more 10ng to take next week. They both have expiry date of Nov 2024 so all good.
However I think I’ve seen somewhere that if your prescription is older than 2 months you have to start again from 2.5? I have been shopping around to see what the cheapest 15mg dose is to keep my stock up (won’t be able to afford it for more than another 6m) but also seen that current supplies have Oct 24 expiry dates. Any advice please? TIA.

I have had a 8 week gap in orders and managed to get my next dose up still from a entirely different pharmacy so I wouldn't worry too much as long as you are able to show back prescriptions

I’ve been a really slow loser - 10kg since start of April so averaging around 1ish pounds a week. I am around 10lbs from my goal weight now and am on my 3rd week of 10mg. This week in 5 days I’ve lost 2.2 pounds!! So maybe it’s kick started something, genuinely I have eaten more this week but still under 1200 a day.

Im now worried about if it speeds up too much my skin will get loose. My boobs are already squishy because they’ve lost firmness with getting smaller.

Small price to pay though. My DP said the other day something like ‘you’ll have to do all the firming exercises after to firm your boobies up’ or similar, because he genuinely doesn’t know that’s not something that can be impacted with exercise.

Im like thanks, so now I know you think I have squishy saggy boobs! Oh well, nothing that can’t be sorted out with a bra

Ifyounevergiveup · 15/08/2024 14:24

@Mounjaroattheend made me laugh! Get a balcony bra and ask if he’s impressed with all the exercising you’ve clearly been doing 🤭

Oof, Id give him a mirror and ask him to point out all his perfect parts 🤣

It is annoying that we wont look like swimwear models, but like you say, if I look better with clothes on, then that's the main thing!

Ifyounevergiveup - good to hear you are on a similar path to me (all be it with a walking stick from my angle😁) - it’s been a good week so far and l’m hoping that at my weigh in next week l’ve done ok - not sure if l will go up to the next doseage or continue on the 5mg for a while - l’ll see what the advice is from the nurse next week. Hope your week is going well.

@WildJoker it is going well, thank you. I gave myself a good talking to along the lines of “getting slowly smaller with very little effort and no effect on your lifestyle is pretty much what you’d ask a fairy godmother for, so stop pouting because other people are going faster”. And then I told myself how wise I am, then I thanked myself and had a lovely bowl of mixed berries and Kvarg white chocolate yoghurt to celebrate 😂

Dosage-wise I just did my third 5mg yesterday; I’d spent two days pretty hungry so I think I’ll be going up to 7.5mg, but I do get five doses out of a pen so I still have a week or so to decide before ordering. Have a good weekend!

Delphigirl · 09/08/2024 17:32

Absolutely fine actually… but I’ve heard it can take a day or two to start feeling nauseous so let’s see. Pretty good so far!

@Delphigirl Hi Delphi, how are you doing on 7.5mg now it’s been a few days? It’s my next jump so I’m curious!

Ifyounevergiveup · 16/08/2024 22:06

littlemousebigcheese · 12/07/2024 17:32

Oh great advice, thank you. Embarrassingly I'm slipping into bad habits of just necking coke and Pepsi to keep me going which is probably contributing to the exhaustion😐

What electrolytes would you suggest? Not sure how to eat as I'm just so nauseous. I feel like I did in first trimester!

@littlemousebigcheese hi, little mouse, just wondering if you were feeling any better? Mentally and/or physically? Your posts were really moving and I hope things have picked up for you x

Delphigirl · 16/08/2024 22:11

Hi @Ifyounevergiveup - no probs at all with symptoms, had my 2nd dose last night. Haven’t weighed myself for a few days though, will report back tomorrow!

Delphigirl · 17/08/2024 08:10

HOW…. How…. Have I put on 2lbs this week? On 7.5?
bloody hell.

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/08/2024 10:32

@Delphigirl you know you HAVEN’T put on 2lb. You’re not eating enough to put on 2lb. Those scales are messing with you but of course then the old “I always fail at this” voices come rushing back. Don’t listen to them. Float along serenely and all will be well. And call them bastards every time you pass them!

Delphigirl · 17/08/2024 12:16

Sigh thank you @Ifyounevergiveup . You are right... nonetheless, it’s homegrown homemade Beetroot soup for me for lunch today!

Ifyounevergiveup · 17/08/2024 13:58

@Delphigirl sounds bloody delicious to me! Enjoy!

Delphigirl · 19/08/2024 12:45

Phew back on track! 9 lbs lost in total. UNBELIEVEABLY slow

Hurrah for beetroot!

Delphigirl · 19/08/2024 14:42

Yay I love beetroot!
I have also been eating kale. I hate kale.

Ifyounevergiveup · 19/08/2024 14:51

@Delphigirl I was never a fan of kale until I turned it into pesto and omg it’s delicious on pasta; not oily pesto, very low fat! Let me know if you want the recipe, I certainly couldn’t face kale just as a veg!

Delphigirl · 19/08/2024 15:31

Ooh yes please. Would love that recipe!

Delphigirl · 19/08/2024 15:33

My friend grows kale and is always dropping it round and I dutifully chomp through it, but it is hard work. A kale pesto recipe is the answer to that problem!

Glad to help! Here goes: boil 500g pasta (I like rigatoni). While the pasta’s cooking, fry an onion with a pinch of salt. Add two crushed garlic cloves (tubed garlic is fine) and a pinch of dried chilli flakes (whatever strength you like) and cook for about a minute.

Once the pasta’s cooked, keep 100ml of the cooking water (personally I put a Knorr veg stockpot in the pasta as it cooks) then drain it. Refill the pan with water and bring it to the boil. Tear 350g of kale leaves (excluding any thick stems) and boil them in the water for three minutes. Chuck them in a sink full of cold water then drain them (I just squeeze them by hand).

put the kale, onion mixture you made, 3tablespoons fat free natural yoghurt or fromage frais, 20g pine nuts and the zest and juice of one large lemon into your food processor. Add 3 tablespoons of the pasta water and blitz it all. Season to taste and add more of the pasta water if you want it wetter. Stir it through the pasta. I confess to adding about 10g of grated Parmesan as I do love my cheese, but that’s it. I get about 6 servings from this but it would be easy to eat it all in far fewer!

hope this makes kale more palatable! Nom.

Delphigirl · 19/08/2024 18:32

Fab thank you!

Theladybirdthatheard · 19/08/2024 18:32

Hi everyone,

I weighed in this morning and am 1.3kgs down from last week! Thats my biggest loss in one week so far... and I've finally lost my first stone 🙌 In fact 7.3kg lost in total over 11 weeks.

Although this weekend was a bit rubbish. I must say I'm not finding the appetite suppression very effective on the last few days of the week.

This is my last week of 7.5, I have my 10 pen in the fridge and ready to go.

Ifyounevergiveup · 19/08/2024 20:16

@Theladybirdthatheard wow, that’s fab! Two barriers down in one week!
@Delphigirl You’re most welcome, hope you like it!

LeafUsAlone · 19/08/2024 21:05

@Theladybirdthatheard and @Delphigirl well done!! I'm down another 1lb so I'm getting closer to the 1 stone mark...painfully slow, but I'm hoping to get into a better routine over the next few weeks that might help a little 🤞
