There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

I'm at the end on Week 9 and have lost a total of 6kg, very close to my first stone down.

I'm on 7.5mg now and weirdly feel like I've had fewer side effects than when I was on 5/2.5mg.

Next shot tomorrow, so will be interesting to see if it's the same this week.

LeafUsAlone · 04/08/2024 20:21

Well done @Theladybirdthatheard thats a decent loss! I've noticed a dip in side effects recently - I wonder if this is a blip and they'll come back again or is my body getting used to it and so its wearing off. Hopefully its just a blip!!

Thanks @LeafUsAlone I feel like the weight loss is definitely starting to pick up now that I'm on a higher dose.

I'm turning 40 in November and am hoping all the little losses will add up to me looking fabulous for that Grin

Delphigirl · 05/08/2024 02:19

That’s really good to hear @Theladybirdthatheard , I have been nervous about going up to 7.5. Well done on you 6kg loss that’s brilliant!

Delphigirl · 06/08/2024 08:32

Total of 8lbs down now- is slow but it’s happening!

knackeredcat · 06/08/2024 08:58

Still a mere 4kg total loss, looked like almost 5kg at one point but that last one fluctuates! Started on first 7.5mg dose yesterday, not feeling any nausea just yet. In fact I'm not even sure it all went in. The needle seemed flimsier than usual and bent a bit so I feel I might not have got the full dose 😣

Well done everyone 😃

LeafUsAlone · 06/08/2024 17:50

Well done everyone - keep on keeping on!!

@knackeredcat That doesnt sound great about the needle bending 😳 I have a similar loss to you, and fluctuations as well. Very frustrating!!

Hi everyone. 8lbs loss in total today and had my first 7.5 dose yesterday. hopefully the loss will speed up a little - I have 3 stone to go (would be happy with 2.5 tbh) and at this rate that will take over a year…

StaySpicy · 09/08/2024 08:38

I have found my people!

Been on Wegovy since late April, "only" lost 13lbs, so nearly 1lb a week. I went up the doses too fast though (I felt I wasn't getting any effect) and felt sick on 1.7mg, so I went back down to 1mg and have been on that for a couple of months. Just put in for my next 1.7mg pen to try and go up again, especially as I feel it has little to no effect now and I'm eating crap as on holiday.

I'm hoping slow but steady is the way to keep it off long-term though. The thought I could lose another stone by Christmas is a real incentive!

Shocked at the cost of 1.7mg though and shudder at the 2.4mg cost. But I genuinely think that I would still be a stone heavier if I hadn't tried this - I was fighting a losing battle on my own.

Nichebitch · 09/08/2024 08:41

Hi thank you for this thread! I’ve been in Ozempic for 8 months, 1mg dose. Lost 1,5 stone, another 2 to lose.
doctor says I lose slowly because I have metabolic syndrome (insulin resistance), which led to my prescription in the first place. But I’m still hungry, it’s so frustrating!

Delphigirl · 09/08/2024 08:45

Welcome @Nichebitch and @StaySpicy !Yes I just keep thinking well, if I hadn’t started, I’d be 8 lbs heavier, and I’ve seen a difference in energy levels and general wellbeing already. So I guess it’s fine. Good luck with the step up dose @StaySpicy

So pleased to have found this thread - good to know l’m not the only one finding a slow weight loss. Been on Mounjaro for 7 weeks and am taking 5mg for last 2 weeks. So far l’ve lost about 2 kilos (although l have lost about 17lbs in past year through NHS weight loss programme which was stopped in May). Felt a bit down about the slow loss and really needed to hear that not everyone drops quickly. I am prepared to do this for another year as l desperately need knee replacement for both knees and can’t get this done until my BMi is about 30 (currently 46!). I have noticed that the food noise has significantly calmed and l am satiated more quickly - but the lbs are not melting away, just hope it picks up the further up the dosage l get. Good thing is so far, no side effects whatsoever.

Welcome everyone!! @WildJoker you're in the right place - it's great to know we're not alone when losing more slowly! @StaySpicysthat's such a good way of looking at it as well - I would still be a stone heavier, and possibly even heavier than that! The benefits so far are definitely worth it for me, and it's about a lot more than the numbers on the scale. I still have a very long way to go, but already I feel better than a few months ago. Another stone down by Christmas is a good incentive though!!
@Delphigirl how have you found the 7.5 so far?

OP posts:
Delphigirl · 09/08/2024 17:32

Absolutely fine actually… but I’ve heard it can take a day or two to start feeling nauseous so let’s see. Pretty good so far!

Delphigirl · 09/08/2024 17:34

I’ve just decided to have a big Christmas party for family and friends -so I am determined to stick to this and do as well as I can… and I hope buy a new much smaller party dress in early December!

LeafUsAlone · 09/08/2024 19:52

Brilliant idea to have a 'do' to incentivise yourself! Great news re side effects - hopefully they'll be minimal!!

OP posts:
WoolyMammoth55 · 10/08/2024 15:48

@Delphigirl really love that idea! I might steal it if motivation wanes... 😊

@WildJoker my starting BMI was 46 too, now down to a smidge above 41 with 10% of my starting weight lost. I'm just over 3 months in and on my 3rd week of 7.5mg after titrating up in smaller rises than the schedule says - wanted to be kind to myself...

I have lots left to lose and it's not melting off me or anything - BUT the big difference is that this time I do feel that it's sustainable because it doesn't feel like hard work or tons of effort... Just eating less because so much less obsessed and compulsive about food than ever before!

I'm expecting to get to my goal next summer and will be so chuffed if that happens. I'm happy with slow and steady and not bothering to compare my losses with the fast losers - I'm doing great compared to where I was when I started! That's what matters to me 😄

Delphigirl · 10/08/2024 15:58

You sound like you are doing brilliantly @WoolyMammoth55

TimeIretired · 10/08/2024 16:09

Hi everyone. So I currently have two x 12.5mg pens in the fridge as I took advantage of a couple of special offers. I have one more 10ng to take next week. They both have expiry date of Nov 2024 so all good.
However I think I’ve seen somewhere that if your prescription is older than 2 months you have to start again from 2.5? I have been shopping around to see what the cheapest 15mg dose is to keep my stock up (won’t be able to afford it for more than another 6m) but also seen that current supplies have Oct 24 expiry dates. Any advice please? TIA.

WildJoker · 11/08/2024 09:04

@WoolyMammoth55 Good to hear such an encouraging story - and l do feel more hopeful and positive that this will the answer to a life time of weight issues - l appreciate it’s a personal journey and is different for everyone but it is reassuring to know that l’m not alone on this path.

@WildJoker I’ve just jumped over from the main Mj thread and here you are, on the same timeline as me (I have my third 5mg tomorrow after 5 2.5mg doses), losing slowly but thoroughly (17lbs in the year then 5 more much more quickly, well done!) AND in line for a knee op or two…spooky! I have thought for a while that fewer side effects (I have had none so far) might mean slower losses and on a non-frustrated day I think that’s liveable with…some people’s stories sound horrific. So let’s all keep on keeping on and I promise to stop judging my weight loss by other people’s!

Theladybirdthatheard · 14/08/2024 18:03

I'm on week 11 now, third week of 7.5.

Last week was such a mess! I started off really well, good suppression and fewer side effects. But the last half of the week I was feeling really hungry again, having cravings and ate badly 😣

I was also stressed as DH was away camping and I was juggling the kids on my own for the weekend.

And having a really early and bizarrely long period didn't help. Not sure if changes to menstrual cycle are part of the Mounjaro side effects? Thinking I may have to have a chat with my GP.

I only lost 0.3kg in then end, so annoyingly didn't hit my stone. Anyway, better than nothing for a really rubbish week!

I like to remember the severe side effects some are having when I'm frustrated - no offence meant to anyone having a hard time, and I wouldnt wish it on anyone, but I like to balance it out in my head! I did just work out that I am looking at 2 stones lost in a year if I carry on at the speed Im at, and it felt really disappointing! Trying to console myself that it is better than nothing

I think it can affect cycles - Ive read about ozempic babies anyway so Id say it could affect fertility related body parts! Ive had some increases in appetite as well, but Im trying to use it as a lesson in how I'll live once I'm off them and make more nutritionally sound choices overall. Its not easy though! Hopefully when your stress levels go down, you'll settle back again 🤞

NoMoreCheddar · 14/08/2024 18:41

I'm definitely a very slow loser, but it really does add up. I have been on wegovy for 8 months now and have only lost 22 pounds. That's very slow, but I got stuck on the lower doses for much longer than I should have due to shortages.

I also only really lost consistently when I reached what's considered a full dose (1.7 on Wegovy).

It's agonisingly slow, at a few pounds a month, (and expensive) compared to many, but I'm at my lowest weight for over a decade so I'm happy.
