There are so many weight loss injection threads, but I thought I'd start this for anyone feeling a bit deflated by their slower than average loses. It can be disheartening to see others losing multiple lbs per week when it is a slower process for some.

I'm joining, I have lost a grand total of 9lbs in 6 weeks on mounjaro!
Weeks 1 and 2 webt so well with 4 and 6 lb losses. Then I got my period and gained 2lbs, the next two weeks I maintained that 2lbs gain ( no idea how as I do not eat over 1200 calories). Finally last week I lost 1 whole lb. Feel so disheartened by it all I do feel like giving up

Hi everyone,

I weighed in this morning and am 1.3kgs down from last week! Thats my biggest loss in one week so far... and I've finally lost my first stone 🙌 In fact 7.3kg lost in total over 11 weeks.

Although this weekend was a bit rubbish. I must say I'm not finding the appetite suppression very effective on the last few days of the week.

This is my last week of 7.5, I have my 10 pen in the fridge and ready to go.

Well done that’s amazing!!!

I am sure that will just be hormone related water retention. Please stick with it - if you end up with 9lbs a month losses that is still brilliant, it’s 2ce as fast (more) than I’m seeing. Maybe just don’t weigh yourself when you are due on/on your period?

AccidentallyFellAmongBiscuits · 19/08/2024 23:56

I think I belong on this thread. I was on Ozempic for quite a while. Dr switched me to Mounjaro in the Spring.
I had an unintentional 'gap' due to supply problems and then being unwell for several weeks and now gradually building up M dose. This led to a small gain and plateau but I'm still significantly lighter than before I originally started.
I hope I can start losing again as the M dose increases. If I can lose a stone I will feel a lot better, 2 stone seems impossible right now but 🤞

I was goingt to try weighing just once a month actually. I have pcos so I cant always be sure when ill get a period, so quite probably hormonal related. Thank you for your kind words though 💕

knackeredcat · 20/08/2024 09:22

I'm long past having periods but water retention is still a big thing with me, and after I inject I'm weeing constantly (TMI) so my last flim-flamming 1kg is often water loss, I even feel that my legs are lighter after injection day.

5kg net loss since early June of a maximum loss of 6kg, hardly brilliant but my shape has definitely changed with some waist definition which I never had even when I was much younger and slimmer, and my arms and legs are much slimmer. Hey, even my double chin seems to finally be going away!

We can do this 💪

Pinkyp22 · 20/08/2024 12:08

Oddyly despite the small amount of weight I have lost, my clothing is sitting very loose now. My work uniform its quite drastic the room I have now, which is obviously an amazing feeling. When I have lost weight in the past, even 4 stone I never drop dress sizes rapidly, I always put it down to being a tall build. But on mounjaro it is really astonishing the inches I must have lost compared to the lbs

ToBeOrNotToBee · 20/08/2024 12:50

Officially over a stone down now. It's taken nearly 4 months but I'm very happy with that.
I find my weight fluctuates wildly daily depending on hormones, exercise, salt intake etc. I can lose and gain 1.5kg overnight, so I don't get top hung up on numbers, choosing instead to go by how my clothes feel and weigh myself every other week or so (first thing in the morning, after a pee and poo of course)

You’re not the only one to see that effect, @Pinkyp22 . Quite a few Mj users have given the scales a swerve and just use tape measurements to check their progress. The scales can be so illogical but on a tape measure, smaller is definitely smaller! So glad you’ve come across to this thread too, I think there’s quite a few of us following both nowadays!

dmott · 20/08/2024 17:49

I gained 1.5lbs this week I know it's not real weight as I've not eaten over maintenance calories and my period is due but it's really de motivating

Try not to be disheartened- it is most likely water weight especially if you're due on. It's easy to say though, I know. It will come off again, and as you say it isn't actual weight anyway. It can be hard to keep being logical though!

@dmott @Pinkyp22 This. It’s really hard to stay logical especially when so many of us are emotional eaters. Having said that, I don’t know about you but pre Mj I wouldn’t have time to be logical before I was chucking rubbish down my throat. Now, I still find the scales go up and down like a rollercoaster but I only record the drops in weight and I don’t feel the urge to overeat because I know for a fact I’m not eating enough to gain weight. I’m three doses in to 5mg and still learning about how Mj affects me, but personally I find it’s made me able to be more objective. Don’t get me wrong, I still have moments when I want to throw the furniture about, but that’s when I jump onto this thread 😀

This is so very accurate
Pre mounjaro I was a huge emotional eater I have been for my entire 39 years. Mounjaro has 100% had an amazingly positive effect on my mind set. I do not feel any urges to binge regardless of how my day has gone. I have willpower, and am able to recognise when I am hungry and need to eat. I no longer crave foods that would give me comfort like crisps etc. I dont even crave the end of the week glass of wine!

@Pinkyp22 this is what it’s all about! Regardless of scale fluctuations (as opposed to true weight changes) who would have believed that the inner monologue would stop just by having a weekly injection? For me, the weight loss will come, but the decreasing volume of the food chatter as my Mj dose increases is worth the entrance fee on its own x

I did not have any idea what "food noise" was untill mounjaro silenced it!

Do any of you have any advise on moving up dosages?
I am on week 2 of 5mg so far so good, little side effects - constipation is a ongoing battle and I felt very fatigued at first but that seems to be fading. I have pretty much full suppression and no food noise at the moment. Scales obviously not moving as fast as I'd like.
I wonder if I go up to 7.5 or stay on 5. If I was losing a good amount I'd happily stay at 5 but that's not the case to date.
Also can anyone recommend a supplier? I am currently with independent pharmacy. Have seen / heard med express mentioned but they have delays and delivery isn't cold.
Anyone have experience of cloud or family pharmacies?

Ifyounevergiveup · 20/08/2024 23:01

@Pinkyp22 oh the dosage dilemma. I’m at exactly the same stage as you. I have never had any side effects and I’m hungry by day 5 of the week. I’ll be going up to 7.5mg without a second glance, but if I were in the scenario you describe, I wouldn’t, and here’s why. Mj doesn’t make you lose weight, so taking a higher dose won’t make you lose faster. All Mj does is stop the obsessing over food and make it last longer in your intestinal tract. So if you’re not suffering from cravings or hunger, and you’re already constipated, your Mj is working. You’re in the position of having to consider what you’re eating and how many calories you’re burning. It’s an absolute bugger, I know, and it’s not fair that some of us have to go well under 1000 calories to continue losing, but if you have hormone issues like PCOS, hypothyroidism etc you already know we got dealt a bad hand! I hope this doesn’t sound harsh, it’s always hard to tell how a post will read to others, but I hope you know I’m 100% behind you whatever you decide. I just don’t want you to have to go through side effects from a higher dose than you need, only to find you don’t lose any faster. 💕

Ifyounevergiveup · 20/08/2024 23:02

@Pinkyp22 oh ps I moved to Care Pharmacy after my first pen and have been really impressed. They price match and they’re real people, very supportive x

That makes perfect sense and yes as you say, it is working for me as I am experiencing suppression.
It hasn't happened yet so I shouldn't be worried I guess, but when I started 2.5mg it was amazing, full suppression for the first two weeks, then the last few weeks all I got was 3/4 days before I'd be absolutely ravenous again. Im at that midway point of 5mg so really really hoping the suppression stays strong. When I took my first 5mg i actually git 10 days out it as it was felt so strong. Injection day is Friday for me so ive still pretty much got full suppression today

Yes I do have PCOS so I know well unfortunately

Thank you for the pharmacy recommendation, ill take a look at them.

TimeIretired · 21/08/2024 06:54

@Pinkyp22 there are so many suppliers around. In fact once you click on one, your FB feeds will be flooded. I gave my email address to a couple and they are now bombarding me with special offers so well worth shopping around as you have time. You will need proof - a photograph of your box with the current dose, your name etc.

best offer I seem to have at the mo is Dr Frank but Assured Pharmacy also good and I’ve used Voy a few times when they’ve offered me discount.

I’ve started eating beetroot with my protein heavy lunch and not sure if it’s a coincidence with raising to 12.5 but the constipation problem has gone. Good luck!

I have just found I can get 30% off at med express with my blue light card!

TimeIretired · 21/08/2024 08:51

@Pinkyp22 aaargh - I’ve got one of those but already used Med express before🤦🏼‍♀️. I’ll compare prices as Dr Frank is currently begging me to use them with £65 off. However I’ve got 2 x 12.5 pens in at the mo (8-10 weeks supply). I understand from other MN posts/FB that all the 15mg pens in the uk currently have an expiry date of October 2024 so want to try and wait around 4 weeks before ordering again. Thanks for the info tho!

@Pinkyp22 no I haven’t. Will update on here when I reorder in around 4 weeks time to let you know who I went with and ease of application etc.

I was just going through the consultation with them but it doesn't specify pen dosages at the end
