Mounjaro / Wegovy with > 5st / 30kg to lose

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 26/04/2024 08:41

I know, yet another Mounjaro / Wegovy thread, but I wondered if anyone else with a lot to lose would be interested in a safe space to chat. The other threads (both the long-runner and the newbies) are great but I can’t believe how relatively little some people have to lose. I know it’s all relative, and two stone can be a lot of extra weight on a small frame, and it’s great that they are doing something for their health before they end up in the same position as me… but in my more ungenerous moments I think about what a dream it would be to be ‘only’ two stone overweight, and wonder how many posters I will see come and go while I plod along.

So, if any of that resonates and you don’t think I’m an utter cow for having these thoughts, come and chat! I will start. I don’t feel comfortable sharing my current weight but am happy to say that my starting BMI is over 40 and I have 7.5 stone / 47 kg to lose. I’m very tall but there’s no kidding myself that my current situation isn't very unhealthy indeed.

I’m halfway through my second week on 2.5mg Mounjaro and so far I have lost 8lb. I have not really had many side effects apart from occasional loose stools, but I am also not experiencing the significant appetite suppression that others describe. Right now I am finding MJ a useful tool to take the edge off while I count calories and keep an eye on my macros to keep my protein intake up. A very welcome effect is that it has completely removed any desire to drink alcohol, which is helpful as a fondness for wine is part of how I got so fat in the first place. Nevertheless I am looking forward to moving up to 5mg and hopefully experiencing more appetite suppression.

Anyone else?

@Everdecreasingcircumferences thanks for the encouragement about the stalling. The same here, I would have also thrown in the towel pre-MJ, but so glad I persevered. My MJ effects are mild - no dramatic weight suppression and I am still often hungry (maybe it's imaginary hunger?) but I now CAN stick it out and actually stick to my new eating habits.

oreo2024 · 02/07/2024 09:27

@Tirzepatide ah yes, a whoosh, correct, that's the word I was looking for!

JessicaPeach · 02/07/2024 10:17

I did my first jab on Friday night, had a sneaky weigh this morning and I'm 4.4lbs down already!

Finding it much easier than I thought I would so far, what a thrill it is to walk past the chocolates and cakes in the supermarket and not be a bit interested in them!

Have been struggling with headaches a little bit but I guess that's a side effect from the massive drop in sugar and the big drop in calories. I've been making sure to drink a lot so presume it will pass soon. Been quite tired too but that could also be lack of sugar!

WoolyMammoth55 · 02/07/2024 14:48

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I'm with Voy, and I'd really recommend them. I've got a referral code for £85 off your first pen: https://joinvoy.com/r/U-wW0jC2cWdY Then if you use it, you'll get your own code to share - I've had 2 free pens through sharing my code! And their support is great too, and good fast Royal Mail deliveries... DM me if you have any questions!

But I know lots of people are with Zava, some with MedExpress, some with Boots and Curate (?) If you have a lot to lose then I'd personally start with Voy and change if you find it's not working for you - because there are often promo codes floating around at other providers but Voy is the only one where you get the chance to get totally free flab jabs! 😉

Best of luck with it all wherever you decide to go Flowers

mjnewbie · 02/07/2024 18:50

@JessicaPeach that’s exactly how I felt the first week, I was so nervous to do my second jab as I was scared I’d be feeling the same but I had no side effects and this morning I did my 3rd and also thur far, nothing! I had started drinking electrolytes as recommended here - I got the Myprotein one for protein/electrolytes but you can get them off Amazon also - they really made a difference with the fatigue.

Eminybob · 02/07/2024 20:09

I have a question please, does suppression start to last longer as you go onto higher doses?
I am finding myself starving on day 5 at the moment, I'm on 2nd dose of 7.5mg.
It's really annoying and frustrating, I'm tempted to inject my next dose early each week but can't really afford to be buying more pens than necessary.
Please tell me 10mg will last all week 🙏

Hi everyone! I’m looking at ordering my first pen, I have a lot to loose (6 stone minimum) and just keen to get started really! Where is the best place for ordering please? I’m in Scotland if that makes any difference! Thanks

I found ZAVA the best value and they sent the pen really quickly. The only other thing you need to buy is a sharps bin and some pre injection wipes.

Good luck from Ayrshire on your weight loss.

If you go with ZAVA and use this code we will both get 15% off

There’s no better gift than the gift of good health. Use my code and you’ll get 15% off your first order at ZAVA: REFREEF6

Today's weigh-in feels significant. I've lost 3lb this week, bringing my total loss since mid-April to 3 stone. More importantly, I am the lightest today that I have been since 1 May 2020 and I feel quite emotional about losing all of the weight that I gained over the pandemic and beyond, as it also represents a lot of emotional weight that I took on during that period.

Another three stone would bring me back to the weight I was when I conceived DC1, which feels like a lifetime ago (and I suppose literally is, from DC1's perspective!). I was a very different person back then and I would quite like to meet her again (and rewear some of her clothes, most of which still hang in my wardrobe and have gone full-circle to come back into fashion!).

Keep at it, everyone. We are doing this!

Congratulations @VelociraptorsVelociRapping! That's such an incredible loss!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 03/07/2024 09:35

Thank you @AGirlsNameIsAryaStark. I saw my hairdresser for the first time in months yesterday and she noticed my loss instantly (and is probably one of the few people who would comment on it) so that was nice to hear too - my starting point was so high that I have wondered how visible the loss is, even though I feel so much better.

You're doing brilliantly @VelociraptorsVelociRapping. Well done on your milestones.

PrincessPeache · 03/07/2024 09:43

I’m down 10.2lbs since three days ago 🥹🥹

I know it’s water weight, I know it won’t continue to come off this quickly, but my goodness what a great kickstarter it’s been! Took my first injection yesterday and dropped 3.2lbs - yesterday I ate three eggs and some spinach for lunch, and then six meatballs and some dry salad from a coleslaw salad bag for dinner.

have woken up today feeling less bloated and not at all hungry, I think the food noise is already quietening.

MrsClownland · 03/07/2024 10:46

I've had my 3rd injection, need to start thinking about ordering the next dose up!

KeepingUndercover · 03/07/2024 13:47

I got my 10mg pen today from Bolt. A day late because Royal Mail randomly decided not to deliver it yesterday. Thankfully they package their deliveries well and it was still nicely cold.

TimeIretired · 03/07/2024 18:53

Lovely reading all your losses. My journey (started at the end of March) has been much slower and I’ve just lost another 1lb to bring me to the 2 stone mark. Sadly not one person had noticed yet apart from hubby but he’s the only person who knows I’m on the medication. ☹️
I have had a couple of weekends and a fortnight away so onwards and downwards. Still got another 4 stone to go at least. Moved to Voy for the next pen so staying on the 10mg dose this time around.
Just wondering if anyone is suffering really bad joint pain- sciatica so bad it wakes me in the night and muscle pain like I’ve run a marathon every day?

Great loss @TimeIretired !

Last time I lost significant weight it was around the 2.5st mark people all suddenly started noticing/commenting, I’m sure they’ll notice soon!

KeepingUndercover · 03/07/2024 19:33

I do think people are less keen to comment these days about weight loss. You can definitely tell I've lost weight but only one person I know has commented on it. I think it's probably a good thing because we shouldn't be judged on our size. That's what I tell myself as a comfort at least!

omega4ever · 03/07/2024 21:39

Well done everyone on the losses...

I read somewhere this week that at about 10% wt loss people start to notice weight loss .

Weither they comment or not is another thing.... but they are definitely noticing

frecklejuice · 03/07/2024 21:40

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping that is amazing, you must feel really proud of yourself!

frecklejuice · 03/07/2024 21:47

I've had a really rubbish day today, I took my 4th jab of 2.5 yesterday and it hasn't done anything. I've been constantly backwards and forwards to the fridge or the cupboard picking. Definitely not as bad a pre injection but not at all how I've been since I started.

Just need to get through this week and then I'm on 5mg on Monday.

It was when I hit 20% weight loss that the comments started rolled in, including from people I barely knew. I imagine it was noticeable much earlier, but that was the threshold where people (strangers) felt comfortable commenting.

I actually hate the comments, though. Random people commenting on my body — no thanks. I am very happy to have lost the weight, but at the same time don’t want every interaction to revolve around weight loss.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 04/07/2024 06:46

I'm sorry you had a bad day yesterday, @frecklejuice. Deep breath and new day today. If the suppression is still very low then prioritise protein and water and try to see it as a 're-feed' day and opportunity to give your body some really good nourishment. If you have a bad time on 5mg you will be glad of something in the tank! Good luck today.

KeepingUndercover · 04/07/2024 08:16

Well I worked out yesterday I've lost 17.5% of my body weight, so I guess another 2.5% and I can test @Babadoobiedoo's theory!

TimeIretired · 04/07/2024 08:54

Gosh I’ve ’only’ lost just over 10% so far so I’ve got another 1 and a half stone to lose before anyone may notice ☹️.
reviewing my diet to see if I can tweak it to improve losses- more protein.
