Hello all, today I've hit my 4st loss, which is 25% of my starting weight. I've been taking stock of the situation a bit, so I'll put it here if you don't mind indulging me (maybe it'll be helpful to others).
I did 16 weeks on Saxenda last summer and lost 18lb before it became unavailable, then started on Wegovy in December but didn't really start tracking my losses until January. But I've basically been on injections for 50 weeks now (not including the break), and lost 56lb, which doesn't sound earth shattering but my goodness the number of years I've been trying to lose weight and just not been able to be consistent with it!
Female, 42, 5'11"
SW: 15st 13, BMI 31.1, size 18
CW: 11st 13, BMI 23.3, size 14
Total loss: 4st, 25% of my starting weight
I've been on the 1.7 dose for four months now (split into 2x per week)
I've lost 5.25" off my bust, 7" off my waist, and 7.25" off my hips. I have completely lost my double chin, which I was worried I'd be stuck with now I'm over 40.
I have a tiny bit of not-very-firm skin on my upper thighs but nothing drastic, and my bottom is not very pert. Elsewhere I'm unscathed, due to my height I suppose.
I take my blood pressure every week but it was always fine and has remained consistent. I use a sleep app which has noted that my snoring is down 5% (it was never a lot anyway) - most nights now I don't snore at all.
I feel amazing and so comfortable! I can curl up on the sofa, squeeze out of the car in a tight car park, put my shoes on and zip up all my coats with ease. Even yoga poses feel so different!
It has cost me in total £2,411.80 - that's for nine pens of Wegovy and three of Saxenda. A bit eye-watering when you add it all up, but so worth it. If you'd have said to me at any point in the last 10 years "you can be at your goal by this time next year year but it'll cost you £2.5k", I'd have snapped your hand off (and I dread to think what I've spent on Slimming World subs, books and meals in that time).
But now I've hit that 4st marker I find myself navel gazing a bit! I was aiming for a goal weight of 10st 13 which would be a 5st loss and take me just under the halfway point of a healthy BMI. But now I'm wondering if I'm happy as I am? I do have one more 1.7 pen which I've not started yet so that'll give me another four weeks, and take me up to a big event, so maybe I'll give it a final push for the next month and see where I get to?
What's in the back of my mind though is that if I discontinue before my ultimate goal weight, then decide actually I would like to lose a bit more, no one will prescribe it to me anymore! Whereas if it's a continuation of my current prescription and I explain that I want a final pen just to give me that bit more of a buffer, and perhaps wean me off gradually, then I stand more chance of having it prescribed?
Sorry for the long self-indulgent post - bit of a slow Sunday here! Hopefully it's useful/interesting!
