Hi all!

must updating that 2.4mg is going well. Think I’m down 2 kg in two weeks but my scales have broken and I’ve ordered new ones.

other question though. Has anyone had spots that won’t piss off? Mostly around the chin but it’s like one after the other. Driving me mad! I have a good skin care routine and havenr changed anything. My skin is usually completely clear. I’m wondering if it’s hormones as I have pcos im wondering if the weight loss is trying to make my body do something

I understand everyone who wants to take a break for a holiday etc but I have to agree with PP - thinking I’ll just have a good holiday/ weekend/night out/drink cos work was crap etc got me into this mess so I think I’m going to try and ensure that this very expensive weight loss program changes my thinking and relationship with food. I’m trying to treat myself with something other than food. So a massage at the hotel in hotel or a professional blow dry before a night out etc

@Radish12
Thats awesome! You have to look at the whole journey and 4lb in a month is good progress.

@Achieveanything
Congrats at getting under 13stone. I’m hoping I’ll do the same next Wednesday which is weigh in day for me

@Oldandcobwebby
Yay!! Well done for getting under the 12 stone mark. Glad to
see the weaning off hasn’t effected that.

Oldandcobwebby · 27/05/2024 19:43

Thanks, @givenup123 ! I've got everything crossed for you for Wednesday. A change in that big number is good for morale 😃😃😃

Achieveanything · 28/05/2024 09:52

@Oldandcobwebby @givenup123 really well done to you both and the great achievement abd the very best of luck to Mrs old and cobwebby too.

@ByCoolMoose thanks very much! You’re a pound below me, we can crack the next stone plus together!

@ImPunbelievable you poor thing, you won’t do that again!

I unfortunately discovered I can drink clear spirits and feel the effect (though not in the extreme measures of days gone by) but the hangovers and headaches really put me off.

I honestly think that the majority of success I’ve had on wegovy is down to cutting out wine and excess drinking and I don’t have the desire to return to it. Coincidentally the nights where I would have a drink are Fri/sat which are too close to injection time to enjoy.

Same with takeaways and bad food. I’m glad I’m out of habit of blowing a diet at the weekend or because I’m hungover. I’m sticking to it on my holiday because I really want to feel the confidence I felt in my 20s where I just put a hand in the wardrobe and pulled out anything.

enjoy the rain all and best of luck!

Aliflowers · 28/05/2024 13:46

I can drink absolutely no bothers on wegovy. Has no impact on me. But I’m a rare drinker. Could go weeks/months without one. Holiday’d last year and drank every day (no so rare on hols lol) and at a wedding recently and same.

When I go on holidays this year I plan to take a dose the morning I go then not bother on holidays. Tbh the dose I’m on (currently 1mg) has no real side effects for me except for tiredness, so I’d like to have a bit more energy while I’m away.

MiserableButLovesFood · 28/05/2024 20:42

@Oldandcobwebby Yes that sounds like an amazing prospect!
Very motivating :)

The vomit has stopped but the nausea has set in instead and the very dry mouth - what's that about ?!

I'm loving not thinking about food constantly. Is this what other people feel like?

Oldandcobwebby · 28/05/2024 23:14

@MiserableButLovesFood I've occasionally had feelings of nausea, but only for a second or two each over short periods of time. Very mild stuff. It seems to be in the first day or so after injecting.

I get a dry mouth/metallic taste for a short time on injection day. Once again, nothing to get excited about, thank heavens.

These symptoms were certainly "worst" in the first week.

My wife gets the metallic taste on injection day, but nothing else.

As for thinking about food, my main thoughts are "how the hell am I going to finish this?!!" I can really enjoy small portions, but baulk at what were previously "normal" portions. The constant thoughts of food are thing of the past, but I think it's important to get into the habit of eating healthily. After all, this Wegovy malarkey is expensive, so we need to maximise the benefits for the long haul, not just to lose weight in the short term.

I'm really glad to hear that your "food chatter" is a thing of the past. That's such a benefit, isn't it?

You've absolutely got this - you'll soon be feeling and looking so much better!

Radish12 · 29/05/2024 19:21

I don't get a metallic taste as such but I do have a horrible taste in my mouth very often - it makes me worry about my breath but I don't have anyone close enough (like a partner) to ask 😬

Does anyone else feel like this: my body wants to eat (stomach rumbling), my brain wants to eat, but when it comes to actually eating I have to really force myself to swallow. It's almost like it's affecting my throat rather than my stomach! It makes eating not very pleasant, and it's probably why I've fallen into the habit of snacking on crisps and biscuits. Something I know I need to sort out before attempting to come off Wegovy.

Megovy · 29/05/2024 22:53

Hi all,

I've taken my first 0.25 dose this evening. It was reading this thread which made me decide to order it, so thanks to everyone for all the really helpful information.

Are people actively eating healthily? I used to eat well but have been eating junk foods for a few years and I've gained a huge amount of weight. I've struggled to return to healthy eating, I'm hoping this will help with that.

lastapache · 29/05/2024 23:15

Ladies I’m having somewhat of a panic here. I just did my sixth dose, and once again forgot to hold it in for 6 seconds. When I took it out and I looked at the pen, there was a little air bubble in the remaining medication. Is that supposed to happen? I primed the pen before the first dose but the instructions say that you don’t have to do it after that.

what if I injected a teeny air bubble?

Radish12 · 30/05/2024 07:56

@lastapache Don't worry - little air bubbles often appear in mine. I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure the old air bubble in the heart thing has to be quite carefully carried out by injecting into a particular vein or artery. All you're doing is stabbing this into flesh.

Radish12 · 30/05/2024 08:01

Welcome @Megovy (10/10 username!)

I wouldn't say I'm actively eating healthily - I have a lot of old Slimming World brainwashing to unlearn there ("OMG not enough vegetables on the plate!" etc) so I'm trying to maintain a more realistic balance after years of SW/binge/SW/binge. Portion sizes definitely much smaller, and no bingeing. As I mentioned yesterday though I am tending to eat small amounts of rubbish at the moment so I need to sort that out. Good luck!

Megovy · 30/05/2024 11:10

Thanks @Radish12!

I've never done SW but I had to unlearn WW (processed food = low points). I've seen comments about being meh/queasy about food and eating anything palatable, that sounds challenging. Right now I feel the same, busy morning so haven't eaten yet but I'm very hungry.

Oldandcobwebby · 30/05/2024 15:33

Hi @Megovy - welcome on board!

To answer your question, I can't say I'm ALWAYS eating healthily, but certainly I'm eating healthier! I'm only on 1200 kcal/day, so I want to get as much benefit as possible from a very restricted calorie intake. I had a McDonald's cheeseburger today with my daughter, but my other 900 kcal will be far healthier stuff.

Fruit and vegetables are very much more prominent, and I'm eating far less carbohydrates.

Protein consumption is definitely up, trying to keep muscle loss to a minimum. I'm using protein mousse pots to further supplement my protein input. Very filling and only 100 kcal.

Water consumption has probably doubled. Still allegedly not enough, but I'd be living in the toilet is I drank muchmore.

Sugar consumption is now minimal.

What I'm trying to achieve is not just lower weight, but also a shift in my mindset to eat both more healthily and at a sustainable level. What I really don't want is to be back to square one in a year or so. Wegovy has cost me a lot of money!

Megovy · 30/05/2024 23:38

Thanks @Oldandcobwebby!

I know what you mean about the costs. I can't afford to be a Wegovy yo-yo dieter Grin I've been listening to a few podcasts on this. I'm hoping there will be a low cost maintenance pill soon. Wishful thinking perhaps! I think if these drugs help people have actual choice over food, then that's a great thing and I'll appreciate it as much as I appreciate HRT Smile

MiserableButLovesFood · 31/05/2024 07:25

I'm due my second injection tomorrow. I can tell the effects have already worn off and I could easily go back to my old ways for today (but I won't!)

I've lost 1.2kg (2.6lbs) but I know that's water etc
I haven't lost any weight for the last couple of days, and I know that I shouldn't weigh myself everyday, but I feel a bit disheartened today!- which i would usually deal with by eating!

I know I need to be patient. It took time to get this fat. It will take time for it to come off. It's hard :(

Radish12 · 31/05/2024 08:26

You're only a week in @MiserableButLovesFood ! Give it a chance, you won't regret sticking with it.

A maintenance pill would be amazing @Megovy ! I struggled at first with the idea of using this stuff and it feeling like "cheating", but then I started to think of it like how smokers use nicotine patches etc to help them quit. No one shames them for that because ultimately it's helping them to make a healthy change. There's just so much stigma about weight isn't there!

If you have any podcast recommendations I'm all ears!

Weighing in a day early as I'm going away tonight - the beginning of a few weeks of big summer events that I've been looking forward to for over a year. 1.5lb off this week and I've now lost 50lb in total. I'm 12st 4 with a BMI of 24 (5'11") and feeling amazing! It's so nice to be choosing the clothes I want to wear to these events, rather than approaching another weight loss goal date heavier than ever and scrambling about to find something to wear that covers me up and doesn't cut in to me.

Anyone just starting out - this is how you could be feeling by Christmas! Honestly it's just life changing.

Achieveanything · 31/05/2024 09:42

Hello and all the best to @MiserableButLovesFood and @Megovy it’s a marathon not a sprint and it is effective- give your body time to get used to it.

weighing in:
12/1/24 15st 6lb
31/5/24 12st 9lb
39lb lost

ive been splitting the 1.7mg dose so having approx 0.85mg a week. I’ll return to 1.0mg once I can get it.

steadily losing about a pound a week.

really pleased with progress, I’ve realised that I can’t just eat indiscriminately and calories need counting.
@Radish12 youre doing great- I know you said about unthinking SW but thinking back to when I did it in the past, it’s not a bad eating plan- it hypes the fruit and veg and protein and poo poos junk, takeaways, processed food and alcohol (all the rubbish stuff that made me obese in first place).

im 5’6” so I’ve another 22lb to lose to get into healthy BMI territory- I know that’s not the best measure of health or healthy weight but it’s a milestone and a good target to aim for.

holiday in 2 months, with any luck by then the number 11 will be at the start of my weight.

off to get rid of my size 18’s, they’re banished from this wardrobe forever.

have a great week all, good luck to you and newbies, go with flow- you’ll work out what you can eat and when and it will work

BlueMumma2018 · 31/05/2024 11:55

Hi all,

im the one who started the thread so just updating as im taking my last dose on Sunday.

so since January I have lost 22pounds whilst this is amazing and I haven’t been able to lose this amount on my own EVER on one ‘diet’ I am not going to be continuing.

I haven’t had the drastic weight loss that everyone else seems to of had. Im not sure why, but I’m wondering if it’s to do with my pcos which makes losing weight difficult anyway.

I have come to the conclusion that I could probably lose this just on a low cal diet on my own without all the nausea, acne and low mood!

it has given me a great boost of confidence and I may even continue on a low dose if I find my cravings go back to how they once were! But I can’t justify £245 a month for 2 pound losses 🤣

good luck to you all and well done 🥰

That's a shame @BlueMumma2018 but I'm sure you're feeling much better for having lost what you have. Do come back and let us know how you're getting on, I know I for one am concerned about the afterwards.

@Achieveanything I agree that on the surface SW does promote a balanced diet but it's restrictive in its own way, which often results in a big old binge for me. I feel like I have a much healthier attitude towards food when I can have cereal for breakfast AND bread for lunch for example. It might not be the healthiest diet but it's a healthier mentality.

Nicebloomers · 31/05/2024 16:52

Good luck @BlueMumma2018 i hope you can get to where you want to be without it. The side effects you’re getting do sound pretty grim.

Achieveanything · 31/05/2024 18:21

@Radish12 aah! I see what you mean!
I actually never lost more than 7lb on SW, and yes I agree- cereal for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch would not be good on that diet- but it’s usual eating and we can with Wegovy.

i like how I’m able to have a little of everything but I must say bread is still a downfall, toast, fresh bread and lashings of salty butter.

@BlueMumma2018 well done! It’s a great loss and starting the group was great, it’s been a real source of support so many thanks! Good luck! 😊

bubbletubble · 01/06/2024 09:19

Happy Saturday! I'm finally down to my pre-baby weight, haven't been this light for 3 years. Still another stone to go until I'll feel truly happy with my weight but absolutley delighted for today!

Started on 13th March and lost 20lbs so far.

Have a great weekend all 🎉🥳

Toooldforthis36 · 01/06/2024 09:32

ALL THE BEST @BlueMumma2018 you’ve done amazingly and this thread has been great!

UnicornAndSparkles · 01/06/2024 17:53

@BlueMumma2018 congratulations and well done! A huge achievement to be 22lb down. I have to say I'm thinking the same thing with this. I've been doing it almost 10 weeks now and at the end of week 9 I was 12.6lb total loss. Which is great, but the nausea and exhaustion are really kicking my ass! Pre Wegovy I'd have been about 2lb up in that 9 weeks though, as I was gradually gaining by eating huge portions and loads of biscuits. Will see how I go for the next few weeks. I want to be off by the end of July entirely.
