@Aliflowers , I was thinking the same thing, but there has been several studies which debunk the myth of calorie restriction and slowing metabolism, the rate of metabolism depends mainly on your weight, age, gender and maybe genes, and only severe and quick calorie restriction (about 50% of required calories to maintain) could cause some slowing of metabolic rate. Michael Mosley's (RIP) 800 calorie diet and intermittent fasting have not shown any major changes to MR.
@lastapache, that is really interesting, I have always suspected my weight set point is quite high as I don't have any metabolic diseases despite being overweight, so I was hoping Wegovy will help to lower my set point. My usual plateau is around 80 kg, which is exactly what I am now, so it makes sense my body resists. I have been doing quite a lot of resistance/ weight training, but have stopped it and not done much the past 3 weeks due to shoulder injury, which is also an interesting correlation. I will go back and start lifting those weights again and see if it makes a difference.
@Achieveanything , thanks for kind words, I won't give up yet! I'm weighing about 80 kg, 12.6 stones, down from 14 stones since 1 March. So not healthy BMI yet, it's down from 33 to 29 (from obese to overweight), the universal BMI calculator says that healthy range is 25, which means I need to weigh 68 kg or 10 stones. I would be happy with even 73-75 kg, as I know I do carry some muscle, so I will keep going for another 4-6 months with Wegovy (hopefully I can afford it) and see how it goes. Well done on your great weight loss and what sounds like positive dietary changes 👏
