@ByCoolMoose I've just written the same thing on another thread! Scales have not moved in 2 weeks and it was slowing before that. I've not changed anything either, and can't eat any less. I still have appetite suppression so not sure going up a dose will help.

We need some support to get through this plateau as it's very depressing! I should be another half stone down by this point based on the last few months.

Toooldforthis36 · 29/06/2024 09:38

@starlilly88 lets stick with it 💪 probably any weight loss journey has its plateaus, a total bummer but I’m going to increase exercise this week, I notice a bigger drop when I’ve had an active week! And up my protein…🤞🤞

starlilly88 · 30/06/2024 09:08

@Toooldforthis36 yes, I guess we just have to stick to the plan and keep going. Going on holiday will mess up my plan but need to get back on it once I get back. And I'm going to go to the gym and do some weights to build up muscle

Tindrum · 01/07/2024 06:49

Popping over from the ‘moving in from wegovy’ chat. I plateaued for over a month. It was towards the end of my journey and like you I was frustrated but kept plodding as plateauing was better than gaining. Then apropos nothing I started losing again. It was like my body had tried to hold on to a weigh point and gave up in the end. I didn’t change what I was eating or how much. Hope this helps.

That’s v interesting to hear, did you stay on same dose throughout that plateau and eventual loss? X

Tindrum · 01/07/2024 22:01

I did increase the dose but only marginally. I went from 1.7 to 2mg (counting clicks on a 2.4). I didn’t reduce calories though or exclude any food groups. I also slightly upped my protein using a protein shake.

ByCoolMoose · 02/07/2024 11:04

@Tindrum thanks for the info, I think I'm going to move to 2.4 mg once I've done second round of 1.7 mg and see if that starts shifting. Protein shake is a good idea, I'll try to fit that in somewhere.

@starlilly88 It is so frustrating, without the stall I would've lost about half a stone too during these 5 weeks if the loss continued as before 😟

Tindrum · 02/07/2024 11:33

It's so tempting and motivating to calculate projected future loss but your body is built to protect itself so while some people's bodies allow them to consistently loose, other get to the stage where their bodies fiercely try to preserve a set point. You would have been the strongest and most likely to survive famine in the past! It is a bit of a pain when trying to get to a goal I do admit but don't let it derail you, there is no rush! Staying the same is so much better than the scales moving upwards. You have done so well so far and the scales will move in the end.

Toooldforthis36 · 03/07/2024 07:46

So - having said that about a plateau - just ordered the 2.4mg and things started to drop again whilst still on 1.7! 😂

Thinking I’ll go 1mth on 2.4 and then drop back to find a maintenance dose?

bubbletubble · 03/07/2024 20:53

Progress has been slow for me. I've bitten the bullet and gone up to 1.7mg, starting tomorrow. How did people find the jump from 1mg to 1.7?

Radish12 · 07/07/2024 09:50

@bubbletubble I found it OK, but I do count clicks and inject twice a week so maybe it seemed less of a jump somehow?

I've lost 1lb this week, not enough to counteract the 1.5 gain last week. It's my own fault, I've been eating such a lot of crap - grazing on crisps and chocolate throughout the day then not being really hungry for an evening meal so having a bowl of cereal. Terrible. Must must get back on track with the healthy eating because at the moment I'm just throwing money away and if I carry on like this I'll just gain it all back immediately as soon as I come off Wegovy. I have a really busy couple of weeks at work now so it won't be easy, going to spend some time today meal planning and doing a bit of batch cooking.

I was considering going up to 2.4 but the difference in price is eye watering so I'll soldier on. I was really hoping to only need another month or two so I need to give my head a shake. Maybe if I climb back on the wagon after a few weeks fannying about, my body will be surprised and start losing again, as @tindrum described.

Sorry about the meh update, feeling a bit despondent and unmotivated at the moment.

Achieveanything · 08/07/2024 07:19

@bubbletubble ive got to be honest I found it massively tough. The 1.7mg dose didn’t speed up weight loss- it just increased the nausea and constipation, made me tired and moody. I split does and went back to 1mg.

ive since tried splitting that, but felt the hunger returning counting clicks to 0.5 dose. Like many of you I am considering the cost versus effect, I’ve slowed to about a pound a week but I seriously know that I would never have sustained a healthy eating plan or a steady weight loss without it.

@Tindrum i know you said you were on another thread but I’d be really interested to know when you started and your stats so far.

do any of you @Radish12 @Toooldforthis36 think that the plateaus you are experiencing are due to your body adapting and getting closer to the ideal weight for you?

Achieveanything · 08/07/2024 07:21

Also, I’ve heard from suppliers that for non-diabetics the correct therapeutic dose of wegovy is actually 1.0mg even though 1.7/2.4 is available to those with high BMI

Toooldforthis36 · 08/07/2024 07:52

@Achieveanything yes defo think I am getting to my optimal weight so body telling me that. I have just upped to the max dose yesterday to get over this final hump then I’m going to drop back I think.

Radish12 · 08/07/2024 08:48

Hi @Achieveanything , yes I definitely think that could be part of it as I'm 10lbs into a healthy BMI now, but I haven't helped matters with the utter rubbish I've been eating. I'm probably under about 1600 calories still, but it's all been salty snacks and chocolate, not fruit and veg!

Just noticed that Boots have said the pen I've just ordered will be my last repeat and that next time I request one I'll have to do a full consultation again so that will be a good point at which to reassess.

Six weeks to my next big event so starting the day with renewed vigour, a bag full of healthy food, and a big bottle of water. Have a good week everyone!

Tindrum · 08/07/2024 08:59

@Achieveanything I’m 5ft 3, 54 and at my heaviest I was 14st 9 in 2022. I lost some weight using lighterlife then put some back on which is when I thought enough is enough. I started Wegovy Oct 2023 weighing 13st 2. I now weigh 9st 6. I lifted weights (at home 3-4 times a week using Pahla B vids on YouTube) from the very start of taking Wegovy because I wanted the metabolic advantage that gives you but also because I didn’t want to add anything in at a later date that might make my weight fluctuate. I haven’t excluded any food groups for the same reason and because I wanted to be eating a diet that was sustainable long term. Saying that it is a very healthy diet with carbs being legumes and whole grans when I have them. I also still drink small amounts of alcohol. I lost really well initially and then slowly for much of the time. I kept on going figuring maintaining was a win in itself but with persistence the weight did head downward in the end. I was certainly not a super responder and did find the posts from people who were slightly demoralising but thankfully not derailing. Hope that helps. 😊

Achieveanything · 08/07/2024 10:32

@Radish12 @Tindrum @Toooldforthis36 thanks for the speedy replies!
gosh, when you look at it like that- despite the time and plateaus the journey you’ve all made has been incredible- really very inspiring.

i am really looking forward to seeing a healthy BMI appear on my scales for the first time since my 20s.

i need to up my exercise game and will check out the strength training YouTube videos. @Radish12 I empathise entirely, healthy eating and sticking to it takes time and preparation and often with work, kids, elderly parents and housework it’s just hard to sort it all out.

i feel re-inspired after your messages! Hopefully the final 15lb won’t take 15 weeks!

justsaxy · 08/07/2024 20:38

Hello! I am plateauing too. I was on Saxenda, but it slowed down and so I switched to Wegovy (just took my 4th dose of 1 today).

I have only lost 2k since April. I wish I had taken measurements but I didn't.

Anyway, I am going to start exercising (I haven't been up to now) and there has been a lot of treats recently (wedding, birthdays, end of term etc) so I need to get my head back in the game.

I have always been steady loser, I have lost 10 kilos since December, and I am not paying for it (health insurance covers it, am non UK), so I don't have the cost to worry about but I do have to lose another 5 kilos before November if the health insurance are going to keep providing it for me.... and, I have another 20kilo to lose to get to my first goal. (Ideally, I would love to lose 30kilos, but I prefer smaller goals to work towards)

bubbletubble · 09/07/2024 09:59

@Achieveanything i ended up counting the clicks and doing the 1.3, which has still given me some pretty dire side effects. Weight loss has been slow the past few weeks so I'm hoping this extra 0.3 will help, as I don't think I can do the 1.7 just yet.

Achieveanything · 09/07/2024 10:18

@bubbletubble honestly, it’s a controversial opinion but I think the harsher the side effect and the worse you feel the less effective the medication.

it is only my personal opinion and I could well be wrong- of course you must do what you feel is right for you but on the max dose of 1mg I’ve had more energy to exercise, enjoyment of healthy eating (keeping things moving) and been able to see light at end of tunnel along with (slow but steady) weight loss.

i think it’s tempting to go full whack and up the dose to see quick results (no one’s more impatient than me) but it made me feel so dreadful I considered stopping altogether and I lm glad I didn’t because I’ve realised it’s a marathon not a sprint. I’m grateful to have lost what I have- there’s more to go but the main bit of the journey is done- how much more have you to go if you don’t mind me asking?

good luck, we’ll get there together xx

bubbletubble · 09/07/2024 14:32

@Achieveanything thanks, I'm minded to agree. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks then decide whether to go back down to 1mg.

I've lost almost 2 stone (1lb off) but want to lose another stone ideally. Think I would be happy with another half but I'm not planning to be on this forever so want to maximise my weight loss now so that I won't feel awful I gain a few pounds when I stop. How about you? X

Achieveanything · 09/07/2024 17:02

@bubbletubble same as me a stone and a pound to go, and the hardest to lose this one…
im not looking forward to it taking 15 expensive weeks either but here’s the positives I’ve been telling myself:

  • the longer I stay on the ‘diet’ the longer the lesser/better eating habits get ingrained
  • I don’t drink anything like I used to- I can’t face/take same amount- massive pull factor
  • This is the size I was prior to kids at my biggest and it went downhill for next decade- if I can finally get down to the magic healthy weight I will have really achieved what I wanted to do for so long
  • if i can make that then I can take full responsibility for myself going forward
negatives:
  • expensive- cost of wegovy and replacing clothes (first world issue but fact)
  • constipation
  • hunger returning
  • I probably need to get 1.5 stone down to give myself some wiggle room

im sticking with it - with any luck it won’t take that long- I’ll support you, some weeks/days are harder than others but I’m glad I’m not where I was 6 months ago

Achieveanything · 09/07/2024 17:05

And well done on 2 stone already! it’s a considerable amount of extra weight- you should be proud of yourself!

bubbletubble · 10/07/2024 20:06

@Achieveanything could have written this myself! Just got back to my pre-baby weight which I'm super proud of but remembering how unhappy I was at that weight before having my daughter so just want to get through this final push!

Oldandcobwebby · 18/07/2024 14:15

Hi everyone!

Male, 61, hypothyroidism.
Lost 2.5 stone with Wegovy

I thought I should drop in with an update. I have already achieved my weight loss goals thanks to Wegovy, and I have been un-medicated since 1 June.

I know many of you will be wondering about being off Wegovy - let me tell you that it's absolutely fine! I last checked in on 10th June, when I was 166 lb. Now I'm 164! I've had no problems with cravings, and have just continued to eat fairly sensibly. In the meantime, I've bought myself a vintage Kenwood Chef, so my cake consumption has definitely risen! (I bake 4 inch cakes, so a quarter of a cake is only about 250 kcal, so it's manageable!) When I was a boy, my mother desperately wanted a Chef, but we could only afford the smaller Chefette. In a way, I bought it in her memory, and I like to think she would be pleased to see me using it and baking the cakes she used to bake for me. I'm a sentimental old bugger!

I have weighed every day for the past 3 years, and I notice that, without Wegovy, my weight fluctuates far more each day, but the weekly averages are pretty much the same.

I have kept up my level of exercise, which is now so much easier anyway without carrying that blubber.

My wife is still using Wegovy, and she's doing great, with well over a stone gone. You can really see the difference, and I'm so proud of her success. She's decided to stay on 0.25mg for as long as possible, because it is still working well for her, and she's not as impatient as me! The fact that she is actively dieting is a great advantage to me, because it keeps the crap out of the house.

Anyway, congratulations to all my old pals on this thread. It's great and really motivating to see so many of you are having real success on your journeys. I hope you all enjoy showing off your svelte waistlines this summer!
