Husband dislikes my mother of the bride dress choices, am I wrong?

Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

I wouldn’t wear black or even navy as it might send the wrong message. Change the colour definitely. And the shape is not flattering on the last one.

Go to John Lewis and book an appointment with their style advisor. I did that for my daughter's wedding and still wear the outfit years later. The only thing I disliked was the fascinator which I returned ( without wearing) as I hate hats!

For a spring wedding you would look good in a lighter/floral dress. The one you have is more for a cocktail party in winter. You are MoB people will look at what you wear. You have a good figure so I'm sure you can find something stunning. Take a trusted friend with you to choose.

Formal dinner, not in a hotel or restaurant. No disco after. Venue booked till 11pm. It’s not, but think on the lines of a formal Army Officers Mess dining event

@Biggles27 sorry not read all the comments. I'm not affiliated with them in any way but have had it done. I would recommend a colour and shape analysis with style me happy to find out what colours will make you look amazing. She has a FB page and there's also a group which gives great advice. Once you know what colours you would look best in and your shape, you can then look for an outfit that compliments that.
If you're a pear like me which I think you might be, a matching top and skirt might suit you better than a dress with a cropped jacket.

Sorry but I'm with DH too. Too dark and frumpy. Ask for a style assistant in a department store to give you some ideas.

The Liberty dresses would be perfect in my view. And suit your figure and vibe, from your picture

If the first one fitted tighter at the waist, was shorter and had a flared skirt id like it. ! They look a bit frumpy though, go slightly lighter weight fabric. Id book a stylist and mess around with shapes as its quite daunting x

The colour is too dark for your skin tone plus neither of these fit you

It looks like you were just left, no advice on alterations. Pinning to make them sit better.

If you put that pic in Google lens it will come up with far cheaper alternatives.

Try Love & Rose's at Next or John Lewis they have similar shapes/ styles but far cheaper.

Do you want a one colour dress as you had gone for navy then liked a pink one
whereas some of the suggestions to you are patterned.

I’m sorry but being perfectly honest I don’t think the are very flattering. I would have to agree with your husband.

I like them! Particularly the first one. But not for a wedding, too dark. I would give my friend a nudge and joke that you didn’t like your new sun in law, looks like your mourning.
