Storm Dave

Couldn't see a Storm Dave thread.

Hope everyone stays safe during Storm Dave. We had some rather wild winds last night here on the NE coast of England which only registered as around 18mph. Tonight, we are in the Amber zone and predicted up to 70mph. As far as I can see, the Amber zone stretches from around the south of Scotland down to Durham in NE England but goes across to the West of both those areas and seems to keep changing (Storm Dave coming from the West) Also, Northern Scotland is predicted snow and has a yellow wind warning.

Appreciate that sometimes these things come to nothing, but something tells me that this could be nasty. We have moved everything that could go mobile or cause damage.

West Gloucestershire, he wasn't supposed to come down this far, but no one told Dave. Its absolutely howling out there. I am so glad we spent the day clearing up the garden.

Oh my word, there’s some serious weather out there tonight, I hope you all sleep well with no / minimal damage - and please take care when you’re out driving later, @Puffalicious (you’re clearly a very lovely Mum)
We’re in Cheshire, it’s pretty windy but so far not too awful. I think I adequately secured all the garden bins, bits & bobs earlier. Guess we’ll find out when DDog barks to let us know something has gone flying!

Aww, that's a nice thing to say. He's an utterly lovely son, & I offered. He lives out at university & youngest DS has ASN & would like him here when he wakes up for Easter. He's so gentle & calm & fun with DS3, so the least I can do is collect him. Despite being 21 & about to graduate, I still love tucking him in when he comes home ❤️ , especially on a wild night when he's been working at 10 hour shift.

Stay safe all.

LumpyandBumps · 04/04/2026 22:41

I hope everyone in the bad areas are safe.
I am in East Anglia, well away from the weather warnings, but it’s really blowing here.

InternetResearchedOut · 04/04/2026 22:44

Hope that you are all safe. Much to my surprise, in the Chilterns/ Bucks, it's sounding very wild out there. Checked in with my parents near Alnwick earlier and will do so again tomorrow as it sounds infinitely worse up there.

Movingstressangst · 04/04/2026 22:47

Tomorrow is my due date 🫣. I'm desperate to meet my baby, but maybe tonight is not the ideal night...!

justasking111 · 04/04/2026 22:48

Well we'll know in the morning what damage there is. Until then we just have to hunker down.

Currys has had its roof ripped off twice over the years I wonder if that will survive this time.

Ooooh, hopefully you can get through tonight, and baby won't come til tomorrow.

SabreIsMyFave · 04/04/2026 22:53

Windspeed gone up to 48mph now... (Cheshire/North Staffs border.)

It's weather.

I'm sure everyone will be fine.

Especially in their homes posting on the Internet about how it might get windy.

Yes because no one has ever been injured or killed, or had serious damage to their property during a storm.
I hope a house lands on you. Knob.

LuckyManifestations · 04/04/2026 22:54

Cheshire/Wirral border here in a Cul De Sac that has bad winds whenever elsewhere is just breezy.
Lying in bed listening to something making one hell of a noise, crashing and banging against something else 😮🫣
I know there are fences down as one flew past my driveway when I let doggo out for his wee.

ParkingNightmares · 04/04/2026 22:57

I'm in Hampshire, right on the coast - it's whipping up a frenzy here and we weren't supposed to be affected. Dave has sent his little brother !

merryandbrightdelight · 04/04/2026 23:02

Hartlepool here and the wind is horrendous! Just taken the wreath off the door after watching it bounce about through the doorbell

TheVeloursImgonnaChangeNsoul · 04/04/2026 23:02

Picking up now NE Scotland but to be fair we've had a lot worse .

piscofrisco · 04/04/2026 23:06

We are in the East Midlands, well away from the warning areas. I’ve rarely experienced winds like this ever. The dogs are going nuts.

Hampshire coast is where we are; Dave definitely wasn't forecast to make his way down here. The dog and I have just had a very windy walk indeed.

Pbkwo · 04/04/2026 23:15

wind isn’t too crazy, but got a decent amount of snow so far, north Scotland

michealsmum1998 · 04/04/2026 23:19

West Yorkshire here in a caravan quite high up it's very very windy and a bit scary. Fingers crossed for no damage.

OH snow. Haven't seen much of that for years. Sledging on Easter Sunday

nocoolnamesleft · 04/04/2026 23:25

Now gusting to 60. So I've known it significantly worse but still unpleasant.

iplanonsleeping · 04/04/2026 23:27

Just outside of Hull here. Wasn’t forecast to be too bad here but definitely sounds more than the 28mph winds met office had suggested. Not as bad as some of you are getting it though.

We have a loose garage door that I fear will keep me up most of the night banging but the trampoline is still there so that’s good. Keep safe everyone. Just need to hunker down.

hangonwhilstioverthinkthis · 04/04/2026 23:30

@iplanonsleeping the average wind speed might be 28mph but are the gusts higher? It'll be on the 'detailed' forecast. Often that can cause a bit of confusion :)

Gosh I don't miss the anxiety of 'is it time to tie down the trampoline?!' 😅

Amodernhistory · 04/04/2026 23:34

North Yorkshire, had the lashing impressive rain for a good half hour and now the wind is howling. A noisy night in store

Supersimkin7 · 04/04/2026 23:35

42mph in Clapham! Riot on Tuesday cleared out M&S, bonkers wind tonight.

Both cats disgusted.

Well I’ve learnt something new there! Wind gusts say 49mph which is definitely more what it sounds like. Literally never bothered to scroll down to the detailed forecast before 😂
