Couldn't see a Storm Dave thread.

Hope everyone stays safe during Storm Dave. We had some rather wild winds last night here on the NE coast of England which only registered as around 18mph. Tonight, we are in the Amber zone and predicted up to 70mph. As far as I can see, the Amber zone stretches from around the south of Scotland down to Durham in NE England but goes across to the West of both those areas and seems to keep changing (Storm Dave coming from the West) Also, Northern Scotland is predicted snow and has a yellow wind warning.

Appreciate that sometimes these things come to nothing, but something tells me that this could be nasty. We have moved everything that could go mobile or cause damage.

wheelie bins we have 4 - one general, one garden, 2 x recycling of different types then the food waste bin.

@Acutissima 5 bins as in 1 little black refuse bin (size for a single person household), 1 big green bin for garden waste (that is free- no extra charge-bet there will be next year), 1 large blue and black bin for paper, cardboard and tetra pads, 1 little green bin for glass, foils and plastics. There are 4 people in our household and if we miss a fortnightly bin collection, we can usually manage.

There is also a broken, larger black refuse bin that I haven't yet mustered the courage to empty. It was here, when we moved in (rental) and it's half full of cleaning detritus- blue roll, sponges, diy and cleaning canisters and under that, I don't know what. But it smells, but doesn't attract flies and there's no evidence of maggots. I believe that next year there will also be some form of food waste bin/canister joining the bin gathering.

Today I trimmed back 2 trees and a bush and then pulled up the grass, ivy and ground elder covering the path which runs beside them. I can't do much more as there are loads of nesting birds. Hopefully, the garden will look less like a jungle by the summer. Here's hoping there are no more storms. .

@Siouxtse1 thanks for that amazingly detailed explanation 😁

Good luck getting it all whipped into shape, ground elder is a curse but I'm sure you'll get there!

I think I can beat this. We have two recycling wheelie bins, another for general rubbish, one for paper, one for garden waste and a smaller bin for food waste. It’s an absolute mess outside my house.
