Storm Dave

Couldn't see a Storm Dave thread.

Hope everyone stays safe during Storm Dave. We had some rather wild winds last night here on the NE coast of England which only registered as around 18mph. Tonight, we are in the Amber zone and predicted up to 70mph. As far as I can see, the Amber zone stretches from around the south of Scotland down to Durham in NE England but goes across to the West of both those areas and seems to keep changing (Storm Dave coming from the West) Also, Northern Scotland is predicted snow and has a yellow wind warning.

Appreciate that sometimes these things come to nothing, but something tells me that this could be nasty. We have moved everything that could go mobile or cause damage.

Howling wind here and heavy rain.
Makes for a nice change, it's been wall to wall sunshine for months on end.

It's weather.

I'm sure everyone will be fine.

Especially in their homes posting on the Internet about how it might get windy.

Seriously, don't be an arse. Some of us have had some major damage and disruption in storms over the past few years, and have discussed this here. Some of us live rurally and have been cut off for weeks.

Btw, this is the Weather board.

Thanks for your smug comment, though.

That made me LMFAO too! 😂

I live in Gloucestershire and it’s stormy as hell outside. I’m expecting a power cut at any moment

Ooooh, you've got it that far south?! Shock It was only meant to go down as far as North Shropshire/South Cheshire/Derbyshire....

Looks like it's travelling further than predicted!

Unless I have misunderstood the map! 😬

The last hour has been awful, wheelie bins gone flying. It arrived late and hope it goes very soon.

Allmarbleslost · 04/04/2026 21:33

West Mids here and it's definitely ramping up out there. Gusts up to 48mph at the minute apparently. I'm expecting to have a couple of fence panels down by morning.

It's picking up here now. We can't hear the TV, so I've put subtitles on! I think this is likely to be the few hours of peak winds now.

swingingbytheseat · 04/04/2026 21:34

South Wales here, 40 mph gusts, a bit scary

Pixiedust1234 · 04/04/2026 21:35

Very gusty and noisy outside, thank goodness it's not bin day! E.Mids.

30birthdaygirl · 04/04/2026 21:35

V blustery in Essex, noisy wind outside but we are not in the danger warning zone so just want to send my best wishes to everyone dealing with far worse.

TotoandFredo · 04/04/2026 21:36

Just took the dog out for her evening pee here in Cumbria. The rain was hitting me like bullets! Neighbours shed has blown over too.

Yeah it’s weather, but 3 years ago ‘weather’ ripped the roof off our building meaning we had to move out for a full year while our apartment was rebuilt from the floorboards up. I was pregnant at the time and it was traumatic. Thankfully we’ve moved to a more sheltered area now, and I can manage to sleep when a storm hits, after 3 years of either lying awake terrified or checking into a more sheltered hotel.

Just because you’ve never been adversely affected doesn’t mean others don’t find it worrying.

This storm will mostly miss us but it’s still ramping up outside. Thoughts with everyone in the thick of it.

👏 I'm North Tyneside too (Whitley Bay area) Starting to get up a bit now, but not set to get started properly until 9pm ish

Ooooh, I bet you get some great storms up there! Shock

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 04/04/2026 21:42

Really windy and noisy in north wales

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 04/04/2026 21:44

North Lancashire coast and it's roaring loudly outside. Had a Floodline alert earlier warning flooding possible from 11.30pm. Hopefully the worst of the wind will blow over before high tide at about 1.30am.

Noisytuxedo · 04/04/2026 21:45

I'm in Cornwall. Pretty windy here but no idea why we don't have a warning since many of our trees are weakened from the red warning months ago. 🤷‍♀️ our roof is still partially damaged!

InTheVanguard · 04/04/2026 21:46

North East Wales here. Has been very blowy for the past few hours but the Met Office and BBC apps show it’s due to start calming from about now. We had a new roof last year after storms and I’m keeping an ear out in case of any problems. Hope everyone can sleep well tonight! 💤

youbizarrehorse · 04/04/2026 21:49

Nowhere near as bad as predicted here in Co Down. It was worse last week and it didn’t even have a name😆 There’s still time though, but fingers crossed we aren’t too badly affected. We live in a high up, exposed area and usually get a right battering.

SabreIsMyFave · 04/04/2026 21:49

We're at a bit of a high altitude, so do get quite blustery winds (moreso than when we lived at a lower altitude!) But it's very blustery now!

Indeed. We have had some huge seas which took all the sand away from our lovely beach in January. Thankfully, the lovely sea has kindly deposited said sand back on our beach in the last week or so (nicely timed for visitors to the region 😊)

NW coast here, wind is scary strong. Hitting front of house, fully expecting trees down and damage in the morning.

Awww, glad the sand was put back!

Urgh. The squall has just hit us.
