I'm in the midlands with an amber warning ⚠️. Is anything going to happen?

Hampshire and the teenagers are all out in the street building snowmen. Very wholesome ☃️

South midlands here and just a sprinkling so far - I’ve kept checking on the Ring camera as I’m not getting up from my nest of blankets! 🤣 I think they have wildly overestimated the amount we are going to get.

I’d give it time TBH

It’s actually developing and progressing along the lines some forecasts predicted so the belt of snow that has grown in the south in the last few hours could well start to spread northwards…we will see overnight I guess.

Shetland - we’ve had snow for days. I’m sick of it. This afternoon is the first day the snow ploughs have been down our road and we’ve seen tarmac. Hoping it doesn’t freeze tonight as I really need to get to Tescos.

Not what you want to hear but Bristol has been declared closed until 2330 Uk time due snow (that info is from Eurocontrol who oversee this sort of stuff),

Not sure if that’s a worse case time and there’s any chance if it opening up again earlier or whether the time might slip…

Edited

Thanks for the update! That’s tallying with the most recent information we’ve been given (as long as the Dublin flight is one of the first to go). I’d rather be cancelled at this stage though because I don’t want to be hanging around for a non existent bus or taxi to get home!

East Midlands nothing at all (thank goodness, it would be very inconvenient).
my weather apps say it has been snowing here for the last 3 hours

TheseCalmSeas · 04/01/2025 21:50

Snowing in Newbury

Pudmyboy · 04/01/2025 21:51

Light cover in West Midlands turning to sleet. We rarely get decent snow.

Pascha · 04/01/2025 21:52

North staffs and it's just started a fine, wet drizzle of what could charitably be called snow (but is nearer sleet). It's a bit later than we expected but something I suppose.

Ticketytutu · 04/01/2025 21:53

I have just taken my doggie out on a reluctant walk and slipped on my arse in the snow! Definitely a lot heavier and settling ,more so than forecast !

BettyfromBristol · 04/01/2025 21:54

Pitching is what snow does, although where I live now people say settling which is just WRONG. Not that there's much here at the moment to either settle or pitch.

Anyway, I have a fair bit of driving to do tomorrow so am pleased to see my phone is telling me it will be 11 degrees warmer than today.

Devilcat · 04/01/2025 21:55

CountryMouse22 · 04/01/2025 21:56

What did the cat have to say?!

BobnLen · 04/01/2025 21:56

Northamptonshire and looks like sleety rain

BarryKentPoet · 04/01/2025 21:58

Dry and very cold in east Scotland, loads of ice though!

BoudiccasBangles · 04/01/2025 21:58

Snowing harder here in mid-Wales. We are at river level and the farmers say if we get it here, it’s watch out everywhere else, so it will be interesting to see what it’s like in the hills. It’s the most I’ve seen in five years. About an inch and a half so far.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/01/2025 22:00

Loads here in NE Scotland!

Still waiting in Warrington, absolutely no precipitation of any kind currently...

flatpack1 · 04/01/2025 22:01

South East. Sort of light sleety wet stuff

VWT5 · 04/01/2025 22:01

West Oxfordshire/ South Gloucestershire border - a solid settled covering, est 1/2 inch depth.

(Hoping to build an igloo despite advanced age) 😂
