Although cold, snowy weather is still possible, we are a few weeks away from the start of meteorological spring (1st March)
So here are some thoughts from The Weather Outlook on what we might expect.

I've dithered with my washing this morning. Ive just put the washer on and It's now looking like grey clouds coming this way. I should really have done it at 8am when I first got up.

Hibernation day tomorrow by the looks of things.

Yes, I saw that on the BBC app when checking overnight temps for frost. Deluge!

justasking111 · 27/04/2024 12:27

Yesterday were predicting rain. Sunny all day. Go figure

We've the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza here next weekend, locals dread it. But tourism does well. The weather is looking good, son is home so we'll head for the hills or Anglesey I think

GloriaSmud · 28/04/2024 17:18

Warmer temperatures on the way but also some showers about this week.

We've had over 12 hours of heavy rain here (Leicester) overnight/into today ~ behold my potato trenches at the allotment this afternoon. Nothing will be going into those until they've dried out!

@Pixiedust1234 that's for the north.

I only look at my area but while temps are allegedly rising, deep gloom and rain remains the forecast really.

it is sunny now though, which is a shocker. Hope it's still there at lunchtime.

No it was for the whole of the UK. I even copied it into the post since the link had Scotland in it.
In other parts of the UK, the mercury is set to hover around 18-22C between May 3 and 6.

I'm still excited and will remain so until May 7th. Then I might cry.
@GloriaSmud We've had torrential rain all morning and most of the afternoon, then we saw sunshine for three whole hours!! I'm starting to get the same buzz I get for the run up to Christmas 😂😂😂

EmmaEmerald · 29/04/2024 16:28

@Pixiedust1234 please don't cry, hopefully you'll do better up north

My forecast for 4/5/6 May is rain/rain/sun. The 5th looks particularly bad.

16 though which is definitely better.

Lovely today. Left and returned wearing cardi and raincoat over my clothes. Could have taken raincoat off en route home.

Glad it's lovely today and home early enough to enjoy the sunny evening.

GloriaSmud · 30/04/2024 07:48

It's looking better, especially the temperatures which are looking a bit more 'spring-like.' But there are still showers about.

I'm off to the allotment in a bit to see if my potato trenches have dried out!

Changeable as the bank holiday approaches

The weather remains changeable through the coming days with further showers or longer spells of rain at times

Proper warm, sunny spring day here today.

What a difference it made opening the door and going out on the school run.

I'm currently hopping from foot to foot wondering what to try and get done first. Washer on, back door open. Going to clean the conservatory windows and then pot up some violas, I think.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/05/2024 21:59

😭 I booked a week off work which obviously means there isn’t a ray of sun around and we have a warning for thunderstorms. Not hugely warm either but temp looks like it might get higher towards the end of the weekend.

justasking111 · 01/05/2024 22:29

Husband painted the wooden troughs today. The feet need replacing, they've rotted badly this winter.

It's not what I'd call warm but it was sunny.

MotherOfCatBoy · 02/05/2024 06:57

Pouring down here today; yesterday was grey and drizzly. Unrelenting. I hate to even keep talking about it. Had enough.
A few good days forecast next week but “next week” always seems to be over the rainbow and far away…

gingercat02 · 02/05/2024 08:08

Sunnyish here today. I've not been out yet, but the dog walkers had woolly hats on.
Yesterday was grey and cold, first sea fret (fog) of the year, too. The dippers and paddle boarders on my FB were all complaining

Next week ~ similar to this week ~ sunshine and showers at the beginning of the week (Bank Holiday weekend/Monday isn't looking that great) but getting drier and warmer towards the end...

We had some lovely weather at the beginning of the week (Herts). 5am we had a tremendous storm, now it's thick grey clouds but not cold. Thunderstorms warning for later.

My local paper proudly claims Herts will be warmer than Paris and Istanbul for the weekend - I'm not sure 15 degrees is much to brag about to be honest.

I'm in a blouse today doing the shopping. It's muggy and overcast.

We've a three day extravaganza in town, might be a few showers here and there for the visitors.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 03/05/2024 13:27

The rain started here yesterday evening and hasn't stopped since. One dry week would make so much difference!

GloriaSmud · 06/05/2024 09:24

Finally some decent warmer weather coming up this week but today, there could be thundery showers about.

Mixed weekend here - Saturday was glorious, a proper warm sunny day at last. Sunday it rained a lot, today the mist and cloud is clearing and the sun is emerging again. Fingers crossed.

justasking111 · 06/05/2024 11:02

Saturday showers, Sunday I sat on a friend's patio enjoying the warmth. Today heavy clouds and cold again. 😭

gingercat02 · 06/05/2024 11:17

We had thunder on Friday night, Saturday was OK but grey, yesterday started lovely but rained all afternoon. Today is mild and grey. Happy BH Monday, everyone

The thunder woke me on Friday night / Saturday morning. I got such a fright as it sounded like someone was pummelling my garage door. We will take mild and grey for today as we are off to the Aquarium, so mostly indoors. Yellow warning for thunderstorms from 1pm to 9pm today though according to Alexa. Looks like the washing will have to go on the airer again.

Saturday - sunning myself on the beach. Teens actually ended the day with rosy cheeks.

Monday - walking to the gym in winter coat and pouring rain. Heating on.

DrinksbytheSea · 06/05/2024 17:16

Argh I got sunburnt today! Was not expecting it to be so hot and sunny in the south west. It’s been a lovely bank holiday weekend. Hoping it’s time to put my winter coat away for good…
