Snow watch.

While for many it is milder today, it will become colder again tomorrow. The main snow risk starts on Thursday where both GFS and ECM show a risk of snow in the south into the midlands and Wales, away from south eastern coastal counties. They both model a low moving in from the Azores, bumping into cold air.

GFS takes this right into northern England and parts of Scotland.

As always, early days and so there is lots of uncertainty. We await the next model run

Snowed here (Chelsfield area, Kent/London borders) yesterday, but melted away after about half an hour. It's been -4° most nights this week, very cold at the bus stop in the mornings 🥶

-5°, very foggy and a neighbour discovered there’s black ice throughout the estate. We’re on a hill with narrow lanes that springs run across so all ways out are lethal as never gritted anyway. We’re 2 miles from a main road so driving to Wales today should be fun, not 😵‍💫🫣

Ah shit, my Apple weather app says snow is forecast overnight tonight and tomorrow night. We're supposed to be driving from W Yorks to Derby tomorrow morning, taking 90-year-old FiL to visit family. DH was already a bit iffy about going just because of the severe cold and risk of ice - it snowed very slightly on Thursday, like a pretty dusting of icing sugar, and unusually it didn't melt at all because it's been so very cold ever since.

Now with more snow forecast tonight? We might be cancelling. FiL will be sorely disappointed.

Woke up to a wee covering of snow in Edinburgh. As I'm so close to the Forth, we are usually the last place to get snow.

The met office weather warning for snow needs updating. No warning for Fife and it's being absolutely battered right now.

I've been watching that on the snow radar for the past hour or so. It just seems ro be sitting on top of you!

In Wales it's raining

I have icicles hanging from my conservatory roof. I've not seen icicles in years!!

No snow here but it's frickin freezing.

Woke up to, and still have, hoar frost and dense fog giving the illusion of falling snow. Very eerie. And did I mention the cold?

I know it's been cold all week but goodness me today is something else. It's bloody freezing, I went for a short walk around town this morning and it's taken me hours to warm up. ❄️☃️

@BlackeyedSusan 5 layers did the job until about the 70th minute when I wished for a 6th . I did go and buy an emergency pair of thermal socks in M&S beforehand and paired with my new uggs my feet were the toastiest they have ever been it was lovely!

Yesterday there were the kind of tiny flakes drifting down constantly in Brussels, but melted as they hit the ground. But very cold and a small wind chill to add to it.

Meanwhile, DH reported white caps on Dublin/Wicklow mountains but nothing at lower levels.

This morning had a hard frost in Dublin. Bitterly cold in Brussels but dry and bright.

Been to Newbury now going home to Oxford area, very cold and misty/foggy.

Definitely snowing in Cheshire. We’ll see if it sticks around.

just asking I don't if the centre of Edinburgh got snow. There was less snow at my house than right by the Forth. Caught the edge of the Fife snow.

We've had freezing fog most of the day here (Leicester), it brightened up a little around lunchtime but the temperature's been stuck at -1C all day. Possibility of snow overnight ❄
