While for many it is milder today, it will become colder again tomorrow. The main snow risk starts on Thursday where both GFS and ECM show a risk of snow in the south into the midlands and Wales, away from south eastern coastal counties. They both model a low moving in from the Azores, bumping into cold air.

GFS takes this right into northern England and parts of Scotland.

As always, early days and so there is lots of uncertainty. We await the next model run

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like here. I'm near whitley bay. Big, fat flakes falling now. I'd say an inch and a half so far. Going out to sort the car soon so will take a pic.

Hello @gingercat02 & @RainbowZebraWarrior fellow North Tynesiders. Very impressive snowfall in Wallsend too.

I was up at 1.30am and 4.30am giving DD her inhaler so knew we'd had a good dose of snow.

I've just looked up temperature for my city. Says its -2 but feels like -6. I can fully agree on their feelings, brrrrrrrrr. Think it's time to put the heating on while I boil the kettle (definitely felt warmer at 6am with my first cuppa). No snow just the same frost from three days ago.

Freezing cold in Tameside - no snow but a thick frost - the recycling bins are all frozen shut!

I can see snow on the hills looking over to the Peaks.

Off to Lancaster and the Lakes tomorrow for my DD's birthday - was planning on taking a packed lunch but it looks too cold so we will be finding a nice pub or cafe for lunch!

I've just taken DD to school which is West Monkseaton area. Took me 35 minutes instead of the usual 5. Saw a car that must have gone into a tree in the early hours. Also saw a lass go into the back of a taxi. I was followed by a hearse and funeral procession on the way. Poor souls, what a day for it! We've probably had about two and a half inches I'd say, and the flipping roads hadn't been gritted!

Is anyone in York and can tell me the lie of the land? I have emailed the campsite we are booked into tonight and they are not answering. We are halfway there (broke journey in Woodhall Spa where there is a layer of snow) but are contemplating turning round and going home. In a motorhome and the heater has stopped working so that doesn't help!

Interesting that Staplehurst has snow, as on radar it is showing as sleet.

So I guess that where the radar shows sleet, we should assume that could become snow, especially at high levels. Maybe it will get to the Surrey Hills.

It's misty, freezing and frosty but there is no snow on the ground at the moment. I'm just outside the city walls so I don't know what it's like further out past the Park and Rides.
