Snow watch.

While for many it is milder today, it will become colder again tomorrow. The main snow risk starts on Thursday where both GFS and ECM show a risk of snow in the south into the midlands and Wales, away from south eastern coastal counties. They both model a low moving in from the Azores, bumping into cold air.

GFS takes this right into northern England and parts of Scotland.

As always, early days and so there is lots of uncertainty. We await the next model run

We have snow!!! (Can't post a pic unfortunately) Although I think it'll have gone by tonight as no more predicted after about 1pm. Nice surprise to wake up to this morning. Checked my weather app and just went yeah right of course it's snowing! Looked out the bedroom window and was like oh wow it actually is. Quickly got dressed, wrapped up warm and went for a 4 mile walk in it to the Drs to drop a urine sample off. Any other day I'd have gotten straight back into bed and just driven down there instead 😅

@Darkflame Bridlington. Trying to debate now whether or not to go out and clear the car from all the snow now or just wait till the morning. Part of me is hoping it'll have melted off but I need to leave home around 5:30 and don't want to me messing about if it freezes and sets solid onto it during the night.

We had an icing sugar sprinkling this morning. It's now glinting wickedly in the moonlight threatening a 'bambi on ice' style scenario for the school run in the morning.

We've had a lot of RTA's today, roads are lethal.

Son driving over from Leeds tomorrow in it and back in a storm on Sunday. 🙈

Decent covering here and despite on and off heavy sleet and rain, the snow seems to be sticking around. So I'm assuming its frozen solid. Will be gone by tomorrow and I'm sure, especially with the balmy 11c temperature we have forecast coming up!!

Just read something online about snow forecast in a couple of weeks.

Typical media sort of headline "UK to be battered with heavy snow from Greenland" (it was the Mirror) so taking it with a pinch of salt in a way, but also interested to see how it pans out and whether to dig out the sledges

We'll have to wait and see how it goes. I've seen a weather forecast which shows snow and cold temperatures first week in February.

The GFS is hinting at colder conditions as we go into February so we'll have to see if it produces anything of a snowy nature.

Last time we had heavy snow in the south where I am it was in February

February 5th grandson birthday party at the cinema. Rowlocks if it snows and his little friends can't come

Time to wake the thread up again. It looks like Thursday marks the transition to the risk of snow. The risk looks to be from the Midlands, up. Very low risk for the south at present.

I was planning on a mini break in York with my DSs for half term (12-14th) Do you think I should bin that and think about Bath or Bristol instead?

Just had a notification from Alexa about yellow weather warning for snow on 5/2. Birmingham

Son has warned in Leeds but not till Thursday.

Metoffice warning for Thursday and Friday.

Think as Leicester's on the edge of the warning area it's a bit marginal for me and I'm going to get sleet/rain.

Nothing much in the way of snow for Essex again. Probably just be drizzle or maybe a few flurries.
In early feb 2012 there was heaps of snow ( and in 09 too)

Our local newspaper has done a sky falling in article. I've booked lunch on Thursday locally on the coast because it tends to melt on touch on the coast. I'm sure it will come to nowt here.

We're now down for heavy snow from 6am Thursday. I think this could be the sort of snow event that the details will become clearer over the next few days.
