It is summer isn’t it? Is it?

Rain, wind, cool, feels like October.

It's been raining here all day so far (SW), we've had to postpone our village fête tomorrow as we're due thunderstorms & high winds. I've had to put the heating on & a fleece.
Not looking forward to the summer holidays if it's like this!

APurpleSquirrel · 14/07/2023 13:18

Only upside was the kids didn't need sunscreen this morning 😂

Tygertiger · 14/07/2023 13:20

What is the longer term forecast, for those in the know? Please say there are some dry days coming. Constant rain here currently.

Same!! Pondering if you live near me 😂

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/07/2023 13:20

Looking at gusts for tomorrow. 70mph along exposed southern coastal counties. 50mph widespread inland across much of the south and into East Anglia.

Thats sad PurpleSquirrel but wise.

creamedcustard · 14/07/2023 13:20

If you think this is bad, wait until we have the strong gales tomorrow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/07/2023 13:21

TygerTiger remaining unsettled I'm afraid.

I've got the lights on in my south facing kitchen because it's so gloomy.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 14/07/2023 13:22

It’s fucking horrible. I feel irrational rage at those who like it, as if they’re somehow summoning this shit weather!

Bring back the Boiling!

Colliewobblerr23 · 14/07/2023 13:22

Although we haven't had any of the forecasted thunderstorms so far this year

You're all bonkers! It is summer! warm and apart from the last couple of days very dry.
Where do you live that you think every day june to September ought to be over 20 degrees?

It's not been particularly warm or dry here

Autumn in July.

If Europe could just donate 10 degrees of their heatwave we could all be happy. I blame Brexit.

frootito · 14/07/2023 13:24

I love it! Heat makes me feel bonkers and not in a good way.

userxx · 14/07/2023 13:24

Toohotforchips · 14/07/2023 11:35

I normally love sunshine, warmth and summer but I'm so grateful for the cool, wet weather at the moment. Watching the unbearable heatwave that southern Europe is experiencing makes me glad for the cooler temperatures.

I know the heat will come at some point this summer, but I hated the 37 degrees we got last year and looked longingly at the places on the weather maps where it was a pleasant 21 degrees!

I'm wishing they'd send some this way.

It's so shit, even my hydrangea's look pissed off and they love water.

I love it 😍 feel so cosy and don’t feel bad having a homey day. And will enjoy the heat when it returns too.

At 18 degrees it would be a positively balmy autumn 😂

I was sweating so much after walking the dog this morning and I wasn't even wearing a jacket

APurpleSquirrel · 14/07/2023 13:28

This is the current forecast for when our fete was due to happen tomorrow - so summery!

OYBBK lovely weather for Festival of Speed 🥴 there’s already been a few accidents, I guess due to the volume of traffic, add in some wind and rain and it’ll be pretty dangerous. I’m definitely not leaving the house until Monday…

Honeyroar · 14/07/2023 13:32

It’s quite often wet in July and August (I know because we’re often trying to cut hay!) and then better in September/October. We seem to get better springs and autumns.

userxx · 14/07/2023 13:37

This makes me want to throw myself off a cliff.

blobby10 · 14/07/2023 13:40

@hexsnidgett I wouldn't want over 20 degrees in September, that's asking too much but yes please to definitely during June, July and August!! 😎 Mid 20s during the day is more than fine. I feel so sorry for everyone round here who finished school Wed/Thurs and is heading to the SW for two weeks in tent or caravan - its always been unpredictable and sunshine is never guaranteed but these last few years its been excessively cold and windy as well!

It's more like 14 - 15c here. ☹️ but enjoy your sweaty wet dog walks anyway 😉

It’s not been dry or particularly warm round me though. Current conditions. Very autumnal.

It reminds me of the summer of 2007 where it was SO wet we all wore shorts and wellies (even the lads!). The town and motorways were constantly flooded. And it was like Glastonbury for the whole season....Anyone remember the Tewkesbury flooding?

It was so hot too. And never ending.
