It is summer isn’t it? Is it?

Rain, wind, cool, feels like October.

I noticed on my walk to work the other day that the leaves are changing, definitely feels autumnal lately

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 22/07/2023 14:41

Conveniently forgetting the lovely May and June

May was horrible round me. Cold and rainy.

I'm in london and it's cold and very wet.
All of my joints ache.

I hate hate hate this fucking weather. It really makes me miserable. We have all the rest of the year for cold wet weather .

My garden is looking sad and soggy with things staring to rot.

Not even one ripe tomato yet.

We were at a festival last week and spent lots of time inside the tent because it was cold and wet. It makes everything such a pain, when summer is supposed to be carefree, warm and enjoyable.

Rant over.

May had that awful cold wind constantly. I wanted to go and take some photos of bluebells end of April beginning of May and was waiting for a sunny day as they look best in sun, honest to god, I managed about 10 mins in and out of clouds and I was really trying. I'm in SE. Today is 14 degrees and tipped down for about 9 hours already, can't dry clothes or hang stuff out, poor poor farmers, they must be beside themselves

Do we think we are ever getting a summer!? Or is it going to be a scorcher come September when the kids go back to school? Which would be typical!

Delatron · 22/07/2023 19:32

Just for the one poster that said May was nice. I think the only thing it had going for it was that it was quite dry. It was not warm and there was a cold wind.
Attached are the stats for Oxford - so would have been worse up North. 21 (!) days of cloud. 3 days of sun. Around 16 degrees. Definitely was not ‘summery’

Autumn in July.

I've just driven home and some of the leaves along the road are starting to look Orange or brown. Drove down one road and you could think it was October with them all in the road and the rain lashing down!

deeplybaffled · 22/07/2023 21:19

@Delatron -that’s really interesting ! Which website is that, please? I’d like to look up around here too (north west)

Delatron · 22/07/2023 21:49

World-weather.info @deeplybaffled I think Accuweather also do historical weather data.

Nousername94 · 23/07/2023 09:41

Just looked at the weather forecast near me and there is only day in July that it’s not going to be raining

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/07/2023 10:04

It’s actually not raining here.

At the moment of course.

I'm delighted to report that in london we have sunshine.

Yesterday was at least 2cm of rain and I sat inside in my padded coat and scarf for most of the day 😂

Can't tell you how much it's lifted my mood to pootle about in the garden in the warmth.

May it stay this way for the next month (please!)

Lucky you! It’s pissing down here and has been for 2 days. So miserable 😖

StefanosHill · 23/07/2023 15:50

Yes sunny here

I know it’s raining elsewhere as cricket not on radio

lastminutewednesday · 23/07/2023 15:59

We went out for the day in London yesterday and we were sodden and freezing. It's alright today

StefanosHill · 23/07/2023 17:28

I don’t know if anyone on thread enjoys the cricket but I’m gutted it’s a wash out. England was coming back and now Aus retain Ashes

What a let down. Wettest cricket ground

hexsnidgett · 23/07/2023 17:40

Isn't stupid that cricket is decided by the weather? Especially in England!

Crikeyalmighty · 23/07/2023 18:08

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow same here in Bath- although at 18 degrees and mixed cloud and sun , I'm not exactly breaking out the shorts. Yesterday though it rained solid all day.

We came back from Malta (very very hot) on the 14th July and I don't think I've been out of leggings once
