Early Summer weather watch

After the dramatic weather for some over the last few days, mostly covered in the Thunderstorm warning threads, I think it's time to switch to a new thread. After all, we are two weeks into meteorological summer.

I always think its weird having hurricanes in the middle of the ocean. Do they really exist if nobody sees/feels them 🤔

Sahara sand might not be affecting sunrises/sunsets just yet but it wasn't a bad sunset last night!

Even way out to sea hurricanes will cause huge swells and those can travel hundreds of miles. So maybe all someone sees is great surf, but still an effect.

We've always paid attention to hurricane season and swells as sailing family. No wind and big swells not bein conducive to comfort

Hot one last night had all the outside doors open at dusk. I cooled down. Unfortunately to keep the dogs out the bedroom door remained closed. So was like an oven

By a happy coincidence, I was away in a beautifully air conditioned room. Back to the baking SE tonight 🥵

Unfortunate week to need the hot water bottle for my back. 😭

Builder keeps looking at me like I’m mad every time I fill it up.

I hate this weather so much, especially when I have to get horrible sweaty buses to and from work. Really hope it doesn’t last beyond this week.

Time to take the hot water bottle filled with cold water out of the fridge tonight. I didn't think I was going to have to use that little hack this year.

Models look similar to yesterday. Brief summary: cooler from around 12th/13th. Oerhaps wamring back up a few days later, but not to this extent. Some potent thunderstorm potential from around this weekend onwards, though some may pop up before then eg in the SW overnight tonight.

I can highly recommend dog cooling mats for night time. I only keep my feet on it and it's bliss.

It does look as though temperatures will rise further from today, with the peak on Saturday.

I can’t believe this heat. 24 degrees here at 10pm in September, three hours after sunset. It’s CRAZY.

Was a warm, humid night here (Leicester)
A heatwave warning has been issued by the metoffice (This metoffice page seems to be different from what they had before ~ I think they need to look into why the map thing isn't working!)

It looks like it will probably break around Monday as a weather front bringing rain moves through. There still looks to be a chance for some thunderstorms in the mean time from tomorrow, through the weekend.
Woukd be good to end summer with a bang. 😁

We had a rain of sand in Manchester, everything is dusty and humid now.

OMG our cars are covered in sand made worse by a few drops of rain 😂

My weather station says it was 30.6C a few hours ago. We have a very slight coating of sand here as well - this will be because l washed my car 2 days ago!

Yes, sand on car for me too ( Greater Manchester).
It still feels very hot and sticky here but also cloudy!

Odd drops of rain at 8am, but otherwise grey, hot and humid with occasional sunshine.

My poor cats are melting and the tuna ice cubes are back out for them.

I don't do well in the heat either - celtic colouring!

No sand for me in London ...though I was seriously considering whether to try out one of the desk fans I have bought the DS's for Christmas 🤣!
