Thunderstorm warning Saturday 10th June.

Some areas could see the late spring drought break dramatically on Saturday. Thunderstorms could bring torrential rain, with associated surface flash flooding. Other hazards include hail, lightning and high winds.

A big caveat for those in the warning area though. Many areas may well stay dry. We cannot forecast the exact location of thunderstorms and heavy rain. The risk that they will occur in a region can be flagged, but not exactly where they will crop up.

So, if you are planning an event, stay weather aware and be prepared to change plans as needed.

On Sunday, the risk of storms continues, but perhaps not quite as high as Sunday and I think the risk area will shift more eastwards and perhaps northwards.

South Oxfordshire here and we had about 2 hours of extremely heavy hail/rain and lots if thunder and lightning. Our patio is ankle deep in water but it will eventually drain and I am very happy it has cooled off a bit.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2023 07:48

Once again, a risk of severe thunderstorms. A similar picture to yesterday in many ways.
Primarily the risk lies through central areas of England and Wales, perhaps also into London and more especially into the NW again, but also see rarely a risk for central areas in Scotland.
Once again, the risk is for torrential rain and hail.

Rain has vanished from our forecast. We have clouds but I guess they will burn off soon. Its really muggy already.

LadyBird1973 · 12/06/2023 08:31

South Wales here and no rain. It's so muggy though. DS had come home with a ton of washing and I don't want to risk putting it outside because rain has been promised for the last 3 days! Feeling cheated!

Oh the clammy feeling here in South Wales!
😳

I love the sunshine, we certainly needed it after the never-ending rain.

However, my garden is like a desert and watering just isn't the same!!

justasking111 · 12/06/2023 09:13

Clammy in N Wales, it rained or mizzled over night.

bookworm14 · 12/06/2023 10:28

No bloody rain in west London. It’s so humid though, we must surely be due a thunderstorm!

SunnyEgg · 12/06/2023 13:32

Rain is pelting down here, good for the garden and water reservoirs

Absolutely torrential rain just appeared out of nowhere in SW London!

GloriaSmud · 12/06/2023 14:11

I'm watching the 'blob' just leaving Colchester at the moment, think it could be heading Leicester way.

SulisMinerva · 12/06/2023 15:02

I really wish we had a thunderstorm here - it’s so muggy!

User15387534 · 12/06/2023 15:15

Northants/ Beds border here, nothing yet, though it looks like it has nearly reached Bedford now, we missed it yesterday as it was Corby/Rothwell area. I have brought washing in in anticipation.

KeziaOAP · 12/06/2023 15:18

West Gloucestershire 29.8C very muggy. Had 4.2 mm of rain overnight not enough. Hoping for a good thunderstorm later?

GloriaSmud · 12/06/2023 15:35

Colchester 'blob' I was looking at has disintegrated - now looking at the storm system heading towards Northampton. It seems to be increasing in size and there's lots of lightning coming from it.

Amber warning issued.
Please bump this and keep it bumped.

Large hail possible. Up to 4cm in diameter. If you are in the area, ensure you move indoors if storms arrive. You might want to protect delicate plants. This size hail, if it develops is enough to put dents into things and possibly to smash greenhouse windows.
