Thunderstorm warning Saturday 10th June.

Some areas could see the late spring drought break dramatically on Saturday. Thunderstorms could bring torrential rain, with associated surface flash flooding. Other hazards include hail, lightning and high winds.

A big caveat for those in the warning area though. Many areas may well stay dry. We cannot forecast the exact location of thunderstorms and heavy rain. The risk that they will occur in a region can be flagged, but not exactly where they will crop up.

So, if you are planning an event, stay weather aware and be prepared to change plans as needed.

On Sunday, the risk of storms continues, but perhaps not quite as high as Sunday and I think the risk area will shift more eastwards and perhaps northwards.

Had a couple of tiny drops of rain, so I brought the cushions in. That has stopped, but I can hear thunder rumbling around, and it's gone really muggy (Bucks)

I'm nearby. Tiny bit of rain but not enough to join up on the path. Birds have started twittering again so I thinks that's our lot!

Listening to the rumbles.
Lightning in Aldershot and Virginia Water but nothing where I am in between.

beenrumbled · 11/06/2023 16:49

Sun has come out again in Manchester but the thunder has ramped up again.

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 17:10

The 'blob' is getting closer and is right over Market Harborough at the moment. Looking at the lightning maps website, it looks like there's a right storm going on!

megletthesecond · 11/06/2023 17:20

Bonkers in North Hampshire.

hoochycrone · 11/06/2023 17:23

Cloudy over the Pennines. Debating whether to bring the cushions in 🤔

hoochycrone · 11/06/2023 17:26

Ooo thunder!!

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 17:28

Just been outside and heard some distant rumbles

WaterIris · 11/06/2023 18:07

Sun now back out and rain has stopped. Still a bit cloudy but slightly cooler than it was. It rained for about an hour - very light but consistent IYSWIM? I'd hoped for a bit more, but hopefully it will have been better for the garden than a quick downpour which runs off.

We had rumbles of thunder throughout but no proper cracking noises. A few flashes of lightning but that moved on pretty quickly.

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 18:14

Rumbles a couple of times a minute here and it's gone quite dark. Just hoping for some rain now....

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 18:31

And now some rain - not very heavy but enough to dampen the ground

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2023 18:44

A very active convergence line this afternoon/evening!

We've had non-stop thunder/lightning and rain for a few hours now 😍

BruceAndNosh · 11/06/2023 19:28

Birmingham area getting it again - I guess being centre of the country means it really builds up there

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 19:29

I think we can see the edge of that line, OYBBK - it's quite dark to the west and we can see lightning. We've had a good shower of rain here - I went and stood out in it! FosterDog is not impressed with all this though - he's been waiting for his afternoon walk for several hours!

froufroulala · 11/06/2023 19:47

Thunder, lightening and heavy rain in Birmingham. Very loud!

tapdancingmum · 11/06/2023 19:49

Since I've posted, we've had a pretty good thunderstorm. It's not heavy rain, but it's been raining enough and long enough to do some good in the garden. Not heavy rain, but enough where you don't want to stand out in it for too long 😀. It can keep up all night as far as I'm concerned.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2023 19:52

There might be some strong hail cores within the system. Take care.

Please share! We've had a bit of rain but not enough to make a difference to the garden and now it's humid and overcast.

AHugeTinyMistake · 11/06/2023 19:54

Very heavy rain, thunder and lightning here in NW Birmingham

Lying on the bed in my pants and bra with an the windows open trying to cool down 😂

catwithflowers · 11/06/2023 19:57

Ahh, nothing here in Northumberland sadly. Although it hasn't been as hot as the Midlands and South. We had about 10 minutes of rain at 8am and I was super hopeful, but since then nothing. So another hour or so of watering the garden 🙈

Devastateddaughter · 11/06/2023 20:14

@AHugeTinyMistake same here , I'm so hot ! No sign of any rain here .

Wantmyownbed · 11/06/2023 20:15

Thunderstorm overhead in Wolverhampton. Heavy rain with hail and huge flashes of lightning

GloriaSmud · 11/06/2023 20:24

DH's just driven back on the motorway from over Birmingham-way and come through a real cloudburst - 'wipers on the fastest speed and couldn't see anything' sort of weather.
