Thunderstorm warning Saturday 10th June.

Some areas could see the late spring drought break dramatically on Saturday. Thunderstorms could bring torrential rain, with associated surface flash flooding. Other hazards include hail, lightning and high winds.

A big caveat for those in the warning area though. Many areas may well stay dry. We cannot forecast the exact location of thunderstorms and heavy rain. The risk that they will occur in a region can be flagged, but not exactly where they will crop up.

So, if you are planning an event, stay weather aware and be prepared to change plans as needed.

On Sunday, the risk of storms continues, but perhaps not quite as high as Sunday and I think the risk area will shift more eastwards and perhaps northwards.

North Manchester here. Very hot, bit of a breeze - which has been all day. A few tiny wisps of cloud in the sky but otherwise blue and clear.

Watching closely as I need to put all my patio furniture covers back on if it starts!!

In north east wales here and it is sunny and still. Had a look at the forecast and no storms until Monday afternoon here! My garden desperately needs some water.

North West Wales. The wind suddenly got up , when a door bangs here it often means rain on the way. Dashed outside to bring the washing in . Overcast with heavy clouds to the north. It's so close we do need rain so I hope we get some this evening. Thunderstorms forecast overnight the dog won't be happy

Do you use https://www.lightningmaps.org/ ?
It shows live lightning around the world. I use it for my dog as it also shows the radius of where the thunder will be heard.

It's a good site.

OH just dashed out again to close car windows 😁😁

NW London here- no hint of any kind of rain or storm. Shining sun and a lovely breeze.

lorn195 · 10/06/2023 16:50

We have just past Hungerford on the M4 and the rain was shocking. Lots of standing water and drivers braking.

Thankfully it's dry and warm again.

@mightymam drove into Hackney to pick DS21 up from uni halls, it was 31 deg C 🕶️🥵

Flash flooding is bad, and the dog is terrified of thunderstorms. But rain is welcome for the harden!

WineNoMore20 · 10/06/2023 16:56

Top of the Malvern and it’s stormy indeed

WaterIris · 10/06/2023 16:59

Starting to get clouds and the breeze is more consistent. I've taken in the washing and put down the parasol. Still sitting out because it is lovely and sunny, but poised to throw the covers on everything if needed!

wowie69 · 10/06/2023 17:09

It's just hit us here in the Midlands, hammering down....

WaterIris · 10/06/2023 17:09

Anyone else Manchester way?

Just less than an hour from Manchester.
Very warm. Lots of blue sky, few clouds. Not a drop of rain.

Oblomov23 · 10/06/2023 17:16

Nothing in Surrey so far.

It was like that an hour ago here. Now more cloudy than sunny and the breeze has picked up. Still very hot.

Ha, that's right where I am ⛈

countdowntonap · 10/06/2023 17:20

Few spots of rain in Staffordshire just now!

WaterIris · 10/06/2023 17:22

I hope it does rain this evening. Otherwise I am going to have to water all my tubs as they are wilting.

LadyLolaRuben · 10/06/2023 17:28

Checking in

Wantmyownbed · 10/06/2023 17:29

Ooh wind has really picked up and I think I just heard a rumble in Wolverhampton.

I'm Darwen and the clouds are gathering. I hope they are full of rain 😰

Dunnoburt · 10/06/2023 17:30

Obsessed with the "My Lightening Tracker" App......we have a storm en route!!!!

Papergirl1968 · 10/06/2023 17:31

Thunder started about half an hour ago here on edge of Black Country, close to borders with Worcs and Staffs, followed by heavy rain luckily just as I got the dog back from a very quick walk!

WaterIris · 10/06/2023 17:32

I've been looking at the time lapse on realtime rain radar, and it does look like a band of rain is on its way up.

Feel a bit sorry for all the young 'uns at Parklife. I got stuck in traffic near Heaton Park earlier and the majority of lads were shirtless and lasses were in bikinis or strappy tops. Mind you given how hot it's been I think they might welcome the rain as I bet there's some interesting sunburn patterns!
