Spring Weather watch

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

22 was a heatwave?

2018 I remember as way too hot!

RafaistheKingofClay · 25/05/2023 07:01

Oh no that was today. Sorry. Think it reached38 in 2019.

Road melting and cancelled trains temp. It was 27 when I went for a run at 7.30am.

Only a week or so of warm weather and I'm already worried about water. My garden is starting to dry out and crack - and I'm in Yorkshire!

I'd try not to worry roots are deeper. If you've annuals, hanging baskets then water

Bowednotbroken · 27/05/2023 14:01

Let's hope! Thank you.

Hedjwitch · 27/05/2023 14:40

Overcast and breezy here in Central Scotland. Come back sun!

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 27/05/2023 15:02

Beautiful, sunny day and several utter twazzocks have decided to set fire to crap in their gardens. So windows closed, washing in the tumble dryer and kids stuck inside because of the billowing rancid smelling grey smoke.

I hate people sometimes.

justasking111 · 27/05/2023 16:24

Gorgeous weather washed all the decorating/dust sheets, mopped through kitchen, hall and bathroom it's drying fast for a change. OH been planting up baskets some of the seedlings and plantlets survived. Wilkes had the lobelia he wanted. We're not moving far this weekend the tourists have swarmed. We've a lot of roadworks so it's very busy with the occasional accident causing gridlock.

EmmaEmerald · 27/05/2023 16:54

Fat sorry to hear that
you have taught me an excellent word there "twazzocks"

My late mother would only burn rubbish on a Sunday because, according to her, no-one should do laundry on a Sunday and therefore there would be no washing on lines to get dirty. She also used to start around 8.30 to 9pm to allow for kids to go in.

Mind you, that was thirty years ago.

PoseyFlump · 28/05/2023 09:44

People are very inconsiderate these days. We have neighbours who are retired and have all week to do outside jobs but leave the noisiest jobs until the weekend when everyone else is trying to enjoy their work break time.

We need more people like @nomdegrrr1's late mum to set good examples.

I agree with @FatAgainItsLettuceTime I hate people sometimes too.

Children laughing and playing = delightful.
Children screaming and arguing while parents ignore = infuriating.

justasking111 · 28/05/2023 10:13

Our neighbour retired has a medium size lawn and a ride on mower. He cuts his grass every weekend. The bally thing either won't start the first dozen times or keeps cutting out. Drives the neighbours bonkers

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/05/2023 13:38

It has been incredibly glorious weather these past couple of days!

Generally it is a very dry outlook. It's possible that wetter weather might spread across the south in the second week of June.

Ah yes, that’s when we go to northern France so no doubt we’ll drag a few rain clouds along as usual. 😩

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/05/2023 16:32

I’ve just ordered a parasol for the garden so I can sit in the shade. That should guarantee the end of the fine weather.

I was wondering why it went dark midday. Had to bring the washing in as I didn't trust those black clouds. Its 6pm and the sun is finally trying to peep out.

glares

We've had a glorious weekend in Wales

There has been quite a north south divide today. We had 23 degrees in Sheffield yesterday, and 16 degrees and cloud today.

GloriaSmud · 31/05/2023 07:31

We've had some rain overnight here (Leicester) which I don't think was forecast. And I left the washing out overnight so that can spend today drying all over again!

Cookerhood · 31/05/2023 07:52

It was really cold here yesterday evening (Bucks/Herts border).

justasking111 · 31/05/2023 08:43

After a hot sticky day not helped by a two hour round journey in the car we've woken up to heavy clouds. It's much cooler. In the west

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/05/2023 08:46

Yesterdays cloud in the east and central areas had been forecast not to penetrate so far inland and to burn back. Seems that models are struggling with this at the moment.

Yes heavy cloud here on Lancashire coast which wasn't forecast I don't think.
