Storm Dennis thread - forecasts and reports

i'm just plonking this here, will be back later to fill in the details, but the Met Office have just named Storm Dennis for Sunday the 15th Feb.

In the mean time, here have a load of weather warnings including an amber for snow.

Ciara hasn't gone yet...

I just had to run some errands and thought the same, it actually felt just as if not more windy than Sunday was.

Since the news of this storm came out i can’t get the Chris de Burgh song out of my head aaaaargggghhhhh.
Dennis is a menace...

Dennis looks to be a bit of a menace. I think at this point I'm more worried about the rain and wind, though it certainly will get even windier again and for some probably comparable to Ciara.

I think wind perception can be partly down to the direction it comes in. Also at the moment we don't have the same lulls that we did with Ciara. Ciara was a pattern of severe squalls with longish respites in between. At the moment it's just blowing hard.

Will it have settled down by Sunday lunchtime OYBBK? Flying from Bristol to the west of Ireland 😬

We were hoping to go to London for drinks on Saturday, I guess that's off. Trains were severely disrupted at our station this week

Rubbish snow atm, too warm to settle. The ground is so wet there's standing water on most of the grass areas I walk my dog.
Proper wind for over a week here, apart from Thursday and storm Dennis looks to give me higher winds the Ciara.

Dd is headed to Italy with school on Saturday! Bloody typical. Hope Dennis stays away until they're crossed the channel

We are meant to be headed to Scotland on Friday for the weekend. I feel we might have to cancel. The travel makes me nervous in bad conditions.

When we get to the letter 'S' again, I'd like a Storm Storm.

Bad timing with the half term beginning. I’m meant to be driving from SE to Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon. Looking at the weather warnings does Saturday seem to be the worst day? The warnings finish at 12pm on Sunday.
