Snow watch part 6 (!) / Easter 2018

As Snow watch part 5 is almost full, there's a few days of milder weather forecast and we're coming up to Easter, thought now would be a good time to start a new thread.

There are signs that winter might not be finished with us yet.

The run up to Easter could be wintry…

I've started a rain warnings thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/3209139-Rain-watch

Ooh just seen the BBC weather forecast, what's going on tonight OYBBK & Gloria??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2018 12:51

lots and lots of rain. for most. snow, primarily over high ground in northern England and also I think Wales. Eventually it will probably turn to rain for most through tomorrow.

SnowiestMountain · 01/04/2018 12:52

Thanks! The bbc just presented a very snowy picture but I'm more inclined to believe you!! Grin

SnowiestMountain · 01/04/2018 12:52

Ah I didn't notice rain watch, will follow that now!

hoochymama1 · 02/04/2018 06:39

Heavy snow has fallen here and it's still coming down! Can't believe it! We're on the edge of the Peak District so it could be raining further into DerbyshireEaster Shock

hoochymama1 · 02/04/2018 06:41

Hope it does turn back to rain, Kitten son has to go back to Aberystwyth later Easter Grin

Bowednotbroken · 02/04/2018 08:04

Heavy snow here in West Yorks - couple of inches accumulated so far.

xLeanne128 · 02/04/2018 08:08

I'm in west Yorkshire and there's none settled and small amounts falling

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/04/2018 08:54

I think there will be some difficult driving conditions until it turns back to rain. It looks like it could hang around for a while overnight in the Scottish borders.

GloriaSmud · 02/04/2018 08:57

I think for those from the Peak District northwards and in the middle of the country, could see a fair amount of snow this morning but it should clear/change to rain later as temperatures rise. Scotland will continue to see snow though for a few days yet, especially in the hills/mountains.

Snowing heavily here in Rotherham/Barnsley and settling too. Abandoning ds swimming lesson as I haven't seen many cara go down the main road and they don't look to have been gritted or if they have it's washed away.

amistillsexy · 02/04/2018 09:15

Up near junction 22 of the m62 here. It's been snowing steadily all morning. Roads are covered and there's very little traffic. It's a snow day, for sure! 😁

Heavy snow in the Penistone area. The local community Facebook pages say that traffic has been getting stuck, but it looks like it is turning to rain now.

I'm absolutely fed up of this endless winter. We didn't even get a nice autumn. Even September and October were damp and chilly. A damp and gloomy 7 month winter does nothing for my spirits Sad

sandgrown · 02/04/2018 10:05

Amistillsexy you just reminded me of when I use to go to the Exit 22 night club in the late 70s happy days!

BestIsWest · 02/04/2018 10:19

It’s not raining or snowing here but we have flood alerts on the local rivers.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/04/2018 10:41

It has been a very long winter.

updated snow warnings

GloriaSmud · 02/04/2018 11:30

It has indeed been a long winter. There's talk occasionally on the Netweather message board that 2018 will be a 'year without a Spring.'

I was reading somewhere that the winter of 2017/18 has been the dullest (ie least sunshine) since 1952!

NorthernLurker · 02/04/2018 12:48

Absolutely pouring with rain in York since I got up. Rivers will be flooding again

GloriaSmud · 02/04/2018 13:00

Northern ~ We spent last week in a caravan just north of York and the amount of puddles/flooded fields were Shock Potholes were awful as well ~ this winter certainly hasn't helped the situation with those.

Signs of surface flooding beginning around here in the south too. Rivers are running high, but not exceptionally so.
