As Snow watch part 5 is almost full, there's a few days of milder weather forecast and we're coming up to Easter, thought now would be a good time to start a new thread.

There are signs that winter might not be finished with us yet.

The run up to Easter could be wintry…

9 degrees showing with rain here too.............north east Essex.

nannynick · 25/03/2018 08:16

With rain expected this coming week, perhaps this is a useful website to keep an eye on river levels: www.gaugemap.co.uk/

Mogleflop · 25/03/2018 08:37

Sad I knew it. It was too good to be true!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/03/2018 09:15

very useful nannynick. Thanks :) Also the Environment Agency should be checked for flood warnings.

I'm having a lot of trouble loading weather maps from any of my usual sources today. Not sure what's going on. I still think there is a risk of snow on Wednesday over hilly areas in the north and Wales, but I can't get at the details to double check.

Gertrudethestag · 25/03/2018 17:38

We have had a proper Spring day here. Blue sky and warm sunshine. Will the next cold spell affect the SW in terms of temperatures?

AnnieAnoniMouser · 25/03/2018 18:07

Disappointing that the snow seems to have made other plans for Easter.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/03/2018 12:27

I think it's a good thing at this point!

From Wednesday on we have a snow risk for northern and Welsh hilly areas.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/03/2018 12:29

gertrude temperatures will dip for a few days I'm afraid, but hopefully recovering next week.

Gertrudethestag · 26/03/2018 13:04

Brrr i was hoping we would stay tropical Grin

I wonder if the next cold spell will be the last until later this year?

leesmum · 26/03/2018 13:07

Kitten is Manchester going to be included in this week's snow? Ta Wink

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/03/2018 15:16

Manchester will just be wet.

Bemusingly my met office app has sleet for me tomorrow and snow showers first thing on Saturday morning, despite temps of 3c.

GloriaSmud · 27/03/2018 08:59

Signing in from a static caravan just outside York, where it's been rather wet overnight. I have spotted some leftover snow though, on the drive back across the Moors from Whitby yesterday. They must have had such huge amounts that it hasn't melted yet!
Disappointingly after what the charts were showing last week, nothing snowy forecast now for the rest of the week here.

No snow forecasted here but days and days of rain! Think Easter half term will be a wash out Sad

Perihelion · 29/03/2018 07:36

Gritters were out last night. Only frost overnight and currently -2C.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/03/2018 07:57

It really does look very soggy for many of us :(

beenrumbled · 29/03/2018 08:07

Gritters were out last night here, and it is frosty this morning.

DS1 is supposed to have a football match this weekend, but I doubt it.

Since September he has only had 7 league games thanks to the weather making the pitches unplayable.

His football season is now overlapping with the start of the cricket season and he is not happy.

teta · 29/03/2018 09:56

We have a surprise heavy snow forecast for Monday in Shropshire by the Met office. Possibly carrying on until Tuesday. I was just about to pack away my thermals!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/03/2018 11:01

oh so you do!!!
It looks marginal and I'm not sure how well it will settle. It will be interesting to see if any warnings are issued.

icantdothis2017 · 29/03/2018 13:57

Yup.
Yellow warning .
In April !

I don't know whether to laugh or cry!
link to warnings

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/03/2018 14:22

Note their wording:
As a weather system moves in from the south and comes up against cold air over the UK, there is the chance that rain could turn to heavy snow in places. Several cm of snow are possible, especially over hills, with drifting in strong winds. There is also the possibility of a few cm of wet snow gathering at lower levels. At present the extent and amounts of any snow are very uncertain, and it is quite possible that snow might not be too disruptive.

magimedi · 29/03/2018 14:50

I want to cry.

I am SO fed up with winter & being cold & wet.

At +6C, with wind & rain it feels far colder here (Sussex coast) than it did when I was in the Alps (visiting family) a couple of weeks ago. I was at about 2,500 feet, it was -5 to +5 most days & I felt far warmer. I guess because it was dry: 38% humidity.

And more snow than you could think of - for those who like that sort of thing!

Grin

OYBBK - please let me know when we are going to have a heatwave.
