Rain watch!

While some areas will see snow on Monday, for many of us rain, rain, rain. There will be some flooding issues, especially in the west and SW where there are warnings met office

I'm hopeful things will improve mid month, although I think we could end up with some convective wild weather as we get to that point, looking at how things start to evolve.

Flowers OYBBK

It's so depressing, isn't it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/03/2018 09:47

It's really depressing. I'm trying to go outside when it's not raining and notice the signs of Spring. It helps a bit if I ignore the squelching underfoot.

teta · 31/03/2018 11:27

Oh no!
We’ve now changed from heavy snow to heavy rain in Shropshire.

nannynick · 31/03/2018 12:55

Went for a 3.5 mile walk yesterday in the pouring rain and got soaked. Was planning on doing lots of walking this bank holiday weekend but will have to see how it goes. Sun seems to be making an appearance right now (West Surrey) so will try going out this afternoon.
Village weather station stats:
31 March 2016 high was 15 degrees, no rain.
31 March 2017 high was 18.4 degrees, no rain.
Today so far the high is 6.6 degrees, 1.5mm accum rain.

The snow warnings have all turned into rain warnings, despite the fact that there are some areas over high ground in Wales and the north that will or have been affected over the next three days.

Just checking in! ☔️

Lovemusic33 · 01/04/2018 13:00

Travelling from SW to North Wales tomorrow morning, we have decided to avoid motorways so are going through Wales and Snowdonia, could be a interesting drive? Roads here are already flooded though there’s a bit of a break today so I’m hoping we will be ok in the morning despite heavy rain coming in tonight, a chance of hitting snow in Wales? I’m stressing over it, never driven this far but I don’t want to not go (holiday paid for and no insurance).

Lovemusic, I think you will be ok in terms of snow, but it's a bit of a knife edge I think as to whether it could turn to heavy snow instead.

I have packed the car with food and blankets, if we have to pull over for a bit we should be ok. Hopefully it will just be rain, though snow on Snowdon is fine.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/04/2018 18:16

Started raining right on cue. Wind’s picked up a bit in the last half an hour as well.

GloriaSmud · 01/04/2018 19:43

Oh unbridled joy - more rain to add to the squelchy mess that is my allotment and garden and as an added bonus, it's going to last most of tomorrow as well!
The band of rain is showing up quite well here.

GloriaSmud · 01/04/2018 19:49

Today's Metoffice Outlook going for more of the same for the next few weeks but at least it does look we're going to get some warmer spells....

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
It will remain unsettled and showery but brighter spells are expected for many. Snow across northern areas will continue at times, particularly across Scotland on Tuesday.

UK Outlook for Friday 6 Apr 2018 to Sunday 15 Apr 2018:
There is low confidence in the forecast through the period. There are signals that it will probably be largely dry for southeastern areas, but outbreaks of rain are more likely to spread north and east across many other areas, along with strong winds. Snow could also feature over northern hills. After the weekend signals remain mixed, but the most likely scenario is that it will be changeable with showers or longer spells of rain; keeping a risk of some hill snow in the north. Temperatures probably near average; rather warm at times in central and southeastern areas, but colder generally in the north with night frosts at times. It is most likely that it will be drier and more settled towards mid-April.

UK Outlook for Monday 16 Apr 2018 to Monday 30 Apr 2018:
There is very low confidence from mid-April onwards. Generally drier, more settled conditions could be dominant at first, then most likely a mixture of changeable or showery spells interspersed with drier periods. While temperatures are more likely to remain below average an increased number of warm days are likely, especially in any settled periods. Night frosts are likely to become more restricted to northern areas by the end of the period.

Wet. Just very, very wet here. Seemed to have gained another pond in the back garden.

DamsonGin · 02/04/2018 09:06

Snow here on the lower Pennines. I don't think it'll last long though.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 02/04/2018 11:18

Oh Weather Goddesses

do you have any thoughts on Tuesday or Wednesday is better for being outdoors in London? Of course Accuweather and BBC are showing complete opposites. We can be out either day so just wondering who is right!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 02/04/2018 11:34

S Cumbria here. It is just hammering it down with rain, and blowing a gale. There's snow up on the high ground but everywhere else is just a wash out.

bobbinogs · 02/04/2018 11:39

Supposed to be driving from East Lancs to Hexham, Northumbria later. Can anyone reassure me I'm not going to hit too much snow? Rain I can cope with!!

GloriaSmud · 02/04/2018 11:59

SpringNowPlease2018 ~ there's the chance of getting the odd shower on both days but tomorrow's looking the warmer one out of both of them.

bobbinogs ~ You'll probably hit some wintriness. For the state of the roads this winter, I've been pointing people in the direction of the TrafficEngland website. If you go on 'map layers' and tick 'traffic cameras', you can see what the main roads are like.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 02/04/2018 12:14

Thanks Gloria.
