Snow watch part 6 (!) / Easter 2018

As Snow watch part 5 is almost full, there's a few days of milder weather forecast and we're coming up to Easter, thought now would be a good time to start a new thread.

There are signs that winter might not be finished with us yet.

The run up to Easter could be wintry…

Today's Metoffice Outlook is for a chilly Easter..

UK Outlook for Sunday 25 Mar 2018 to Tuesday 3 Apr 2018:
There will be sunshine and showers for most on Sunday, and some of these could be heavy and slow-moving with a risk of hail and thunder. Through the early part of next week the weather is likely to become changeable once again, with showers and rain at times, interspersed by drier and brighter interludes. Temperatures will be near average or rather cold during the day, with a risk of overnight frosts. The Easter weekend is still too far away to be confident with any details. The most likely scenario currently is a spell of colder than average weather, with increased likelihood of overnight frosts, and a greater than normal chance of snow, especially in the north.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 4 Apr 2018 to Wednesday 18 Apr 2018:
Colder than average conditions are likely to prevail overall; often showery with fairly light winds, and a continued chance of overnight frosts. Showers could be heavy with hail and thunder at times, but there are also likely to be good spells of sunshine in-between. Showers or longer spells of rain could fall as snow at times, mainly over higher ground and in the north. Any milder, wetter and windier spells are likely to be relatively short lived. Towards the middle of the month, it is possible that we could start to see some warmer temperatures, less cold nights, and it may become drier generally.

watching with interest

CanIBuffalo · 20/03/2018 16:15

I love the snow but I don't want any over Easter. I'm done with it now. Sad

Mogleflop · 20/03/2018 16:26

Bring on the snow I say!

GloriaSmud · 20/03/2018 16:26

CanIBuffalo ~ I think I'm beginning to be done with the cold/snow as well now. I've got an allotment that I want to be working on and today's the Spring Equinox as well.
'Tis time for winter to stop now.

Easter snow watching!

leesmum · 20/03/2018 16:36

Gloria, Kitten don't think we've ever got up to a 6th thread before!! Thanks you two for all your valuable knowledge, it's very much appreciated Smile

booface · 20/03/2018 16:40

I think I'm over snow now and I usually absolutely get over excited at it. Clocks go forward on Saturday so we are going into summer time for goodness sakes!

rainbowruthie · 20/03/2018 16:52

I need to be working in my garden over the Easter break, maybe I should be making other plans

GloriaSmud · 20/03/2018 16:52

leesmum ~ I don't think we've even had a 'Snow watch Part 2' before, never mind making it to 6!

We never had any in Swansea. Maybe this is our moment.

megletthesecond · 20/03/2018 17:26

Will I actually get anything planted at the allotment this year Confused.

CanIBuffalo · 20/03/2018 18:04

I'm in bed under 2 quilts and a duvet trying to warm up after being outside unexpectedly and not dressed for it. I Am So Cold.
And Dreamland customer services better hurry up and return my fixed electric blanket. It's my go to in situations like this. NOT the best time of year to break.Sad

coughingbean · 20/03/2018 18:39

Me too mogle! We may be the only two!

Basseting · 20/03/2018 19:37

still tiny pockets of snow lying in northumberland from BfromE1.
bits from BfromE2.
Easter to look forward to? sigh.

IWantMyHatBack · 20/03/2018 19:57

Agggg

Not Easter, I need to get a flight at Easter

nannynick · 20/03/2018 20:09

Easter Snow watch... oh no, perhaps the +240hrs GFS is wrong... can but hope.

GloriaSmud · 20/03/2018 20:48

nannynick ~ the GFS has been hinting at something colder, starting the middle of next week onwards, for the last couple of runs.

Wednesday on next week does seem a bit dodgy still doesn't it, with northerlies showing up. Messy looking in the south, but further up lots of snow showing.

I'd think carefully about any camping trips over the Easter weekend. I have camped in Snow over Easter before. It wasn't giantly fun.

Frouby · 20/03/2018 21:18

Fuck sake.

I am sooooo over this winter. It was a long wintee at the end of February. Never mind the beginning of April.

Spring when it gets here better be special. As had summer. I get married on 19th May and was relying on allotmenting and ponies in work to get me slim. Ponies are hairy yetis still wallowing in mud and the only thing growing on the allotment is weeds.

OublietteBravo · 20/03/2018 21:59

Winter just seems to be going on forever. My woodshed is looking rather empty...

CiderwithBuda · 20/03/2018 22:02

Was hoping for a nice Easter. At the very least please no flight disruptions! Have family flying over from Dublin on the Thursday.

DazzlingMilton · 20/03/2018 22:05

Wow - thread 6! For me I don’t really mind what the weather does as long as schools don’t close. How long could these potential cold snaps last for, is there any sign of “normal” conditions returning after Easter?
