What’s the picture like for Nottm, OYBBK? Trying to get a sense of what tomorrow and Fri might bring. We’ve not had a lot of snow so far...

MorvahRising · 28/02/2018 18:03

Surrey here and our half an inch from this morning has all gone. We now have a yellow warning for tomorrow though so we could still have proper snow! In fact it seems to be snowing now which is not on the Met Office forecast.

JillJ72 · 28/02/2018 18:04

1750h:

  • one chicken telling me it's bedtime, another I hadn't realised was standing under their house. She has put herself to bed but looked so cold so hoping she will snuggle with one of her sisters and warm up.

-7 on the shed
-1.1 in our enclosed garden room
+12.9 in our kitchen 🙁
Upstairs will be toasty though. Roll on bedtime¡

The wind is absolutely biting and there are icicles everywhere! Looks like we have a full moon tonight.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 28/02/2018 18:06

Morvah, I'm in Surrey too and enjoying the snow at the moment. Hoping we have a good dump of snow overnight so I don't have the anxiety of driving to work tomorrow and then the worry of if/when it will snow while I'm there!

Igneococcus · 28/02/2018 18:09

We haven't had a single snowflake yet, Northern Argyll, right by the coast (cries)

Justmuddlingalong · 28/02/2018 18:13

Fife coast. Sky has went sooo dark and the snow is really heavy. Just had a flash of lightning and my first ever rumble of thunder snow. Woohoo!

dementedma · 28/02/2018 18:16

ooh muddling am a bit further inland. i want thunder snow. Where abouts are you?

blueskyinmarch · 28/02/2018 18:18

Ooh whereabout? I am by st Andrews. Haven't seen anything.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 18:19

I'm back for 20 minutes then I'm afraid I'm off out for the evening. I'll have a quick look at what's likely to happen tomorrow...

Think we might need a new thread.

Justmuddlingalong · 28/02/2018 18:24

Still thunder and lightning just along from Leven. Break in the snowing.

icantdothis2017 · 28/02/2018 18:26

We nearly need a new thread

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 18:26

Yes, think we will need a new thread!

Jenasaurus · 28/02/2018 18:27

Snow showers mixed with glorious blue skies all day today.

had about an inch of snow in total over the last few days. It's bitter cold. It's just trying to start snowing again here; fine flakes.

DM in Renfrewshire on the banks of the Clyde has not seen snow like it for nearly 30 years. She is more or less trapped in the house!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 18:28

ok, so gfs is getting onboard with the met office. You guys up in the red zone have a lot more to come tonight and through tomorrow I'm afraid.

Then before storm emma arrives, tomorrow we have a band of snow, heavy I think at times pushing into the south, first through central southern areas then the SW too. I think it makes it roughly as far east as West Sussex, but that's very approximate and as you've seen snow showers can pop up anywhere.

Heavy snow through Dartmoor, Exmoor, Bristol etc before affecting Wales and much of Ireland and NI. Gusts will reach gale force at times, so blizzard conditions will occur. I don't know if red warnings will be issued for the moors - keep an eye.

Areas probably from Hampshire westwards could see snow all day tomorrow perhaps.

Extra Warning: on thursday night a band of freezing rain is again showing for parts of the south and south west. This is very dangerous. If it does occur, don't travel on Friday unless essential or you have an amazing gritting council.

Friday - snow pushes up through the south again. More about that late tonight or tomorrow.

OMG Jen 😂

GloriaSmud · 28/02/2018 18:31

Gosh Jenasaurus ~ it must have taken some effort to get through that lot so that you could get to your door!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 18:31

Nottingham could see some heavy snow for a time in the early hours tonight.

I have to say, if you haven't had at least a covering of snow by the end of saturday for the bulk of the uk you have been jolly (un)lucky.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 28/02/2018 18:35

Alabama. Can you park at the bottom of the hill? Pack wellies and a spade and a hot drink. Change of clothes and blankets too.

I work in a hospital too but I live pretty close and have made arrangemen. t for the DC for the next few days.

If you're classed as essential and you let your line manager know in advance you might qualify for a 4x4 pick up (not return trip though!). gOod luck.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 18:37

I think so notmy :)
