OYBBK - how bad do you reckon it will be in Ireland on Friday?

It seems ok today - yes there was a fair amount this morning and a slow start was needed but I think most things would have been fine. But we haven't had much more falling and what fell last night has been thawing well.

I'm seriously contemplating actually taking tomorrow off properly and not trying to do work from home like I did today. I could do with the down-time, and had planned a few days leave soon. And I know no-one else has done anything. (But then I feel guilty that I should still be doing it).

be back in about an hour :)

cerro

Same here....has been snowing pretty much all day. Kids were happy with their snow day.
We have about 5-6 inches currently.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/02/2018 17:02

Biddy, pretty bad really, especially through central and eastern areas.

Anyone know if there's more coming for West Yorkshire? Blue skies at the moment but was bad earlier today, most schools were closed or closed early. The forecast keeps changing which is annoying!

BiddyPop · 28/02/2018 17:04

Thanks OYBBK - that's decided me, hunkering down and ignoring policy matters and writing stuff, I'm going knitting.....

boldlygoingsomewhere · 28/02/2018 17:08

Imelda, we've just had some in Surrey not far from border with West Sussex. Looking at the direction the cloud is travelling in, it may get to you depending on how far north you are in the county.

BestIsWest · 28/02/2018 17:10

Yikes, that real time radar map has a big band of snow right over me.

Just heard that Neat Port Talbot schools are all closing tomorrow in anticipation of bad weather.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2018 17:15

Salon phoned this morning . Appointment has been changed from 3.30pm to 11am. I have my doubts it will actually go ahead though.

Winds on the way and six weeks ago tommorrow winds caused a power cut.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2018 17:15

She cant really afford to close the salon unless she absolutely has to.

AlabamaShakes · 28/02/2018 17:19

much I'm in the Vale. I have to get to work at the Heath hospital tomorrow and Friday.
Live on a very steep hill too. Really worried looking at the forecast Confused

whyhastherumgone · 28/02/2018 17:22

Proper snowing now in Essex! Can barely see the houses across the street :D

Cacofonix · 28/02/2018 17:24

We have had a snow day here is SE London. School opened for the morning but with minimal staff so kept kiddies off. Had one child off all week with a virus anyway so I am actually starting to get cabin fever. Poured myself a large Gin to cope. It has been snowing on and off here the last 90 mins. That was unexpected.

imelda3 · 28/02/2018 17:26

Boldygoingsomewhere - thank you! We are on West Sussex /Surrey / East Sussex border. BBC and AccuWeather say we’ll get some in about 20 mins.

Might have to go for a lie down - all this excitement is wearing me out!

Riverside2 · 28/02/2018 17:32

Thanks Kitten
So Essex and London then?
Last weekend my parents couldn't believe I had no plans for this coming weekend, it's lucky I'm a pessimist! But also lucky to have you and Gloria to be more right than the forecasts! Flowers

WreckTangled · 28/02/2018 17:38

It's rather windy here

WordWeasel · 28/02/2018 17:40

Still hardly anything in south Oxfordshire. I'm so disappointed. 😔

Tiddlywinks63 · 28/02/2018 17:42

Sod all other than a few brief snow flurries here in south Glos/north Wilts. Not too upset because I hate the stuff (never get gritters around our lanes and steep hills on all sides) along with the frozen sheets of ice where water's running across the lanes.

Cadsuane · 28/02/2018 17:42

This is my garden in Glasgow.

I'm in Bucks near Oxfordshire and I didn't think we were really due anything decent until Thurs/Fri anyway? Had some flurries and some settled overnight. We weren't forecast much today and had the odd snow shower but nothing settled.

PrimalLass · 28/02/2018 17:47

I'm charging everything I can, just in case. I've spent all day watching the snow and the drama with the traffic at the bottom of the road.

Howyoualldoworkme · 28/02/2018 17:51

Our snow warnings for South Hampshire seem to have been advanced to tomorrow morning instead of the afternoon.

FuzzyCustard · 28/02/2018 17:51

@stubbornstains I am on the north coast (near Bude) and it has been a gloriously cold, clear, bright, sunny day.

I was in Helston over the weekend though and the Lizard was rather cold and grey. I'm sure I didn't see it at its best!

MinesaPinot · 28/02/2018 17:55

We're in West Kent near Sevenoaks. Lots of snow, barely any trains down our line (friends waited 3 hours at Victoria). According to Twitter SE Trains saying don't travel tomorrow unless unavoidable. Sounds like a Working From Home Snow Day tomorrow then.

Unless all the forecasters are wrong and it's 18 degrees.....
