Weather warnings for Sunday

Nasty low developing overnight tomorrow, giving some difficult conditions over Sunday for the southern half of England.

met office warnings which they say may be upgraded ( and I think they will looking at the models)

Unusually the storm will be moving from east to west with winds being north easterly- Easterly (again, relatively unusual) gusting to over 50 mph in the sw. Very heavy rain will be associated with this with high totals. Flooding is likely in places.

Please pay attention to latest met office earnings and if you are in a flood zone, the environment agency. Not a day to be out on the moors.

Will update tomorrow.

A bit windy and wet in here in Greater Manchester, but nothing out of the ordinary.

There are still some optimistic birds clinging to the trees at the bottom of the garden, looking for food on the feeder - so it can't be that bad (yet)

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 10:14

oh yes, that is way way out aeriel! (thought you didnt like the met office one I linked to!)

Never!

Posters must ask you all the time, but are you a professional meteorologist, or merely obsessed and amateur enthusiast? I have always been a weather buff. People thought I was weird at school. PM me if you want.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 10:30
Grin I am just utterly obsessed! I've done some online courses, but they dont count as formal qualifications. Im a member of a couple of organisations too including the Royal Met Soc. so I get to read decent publications.

A good place for free weather education is met ed

Wet and windy here in Somerset. Thanking my lucky stars we don't need to go out today. Dogs are bored although even they dont want to go out.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 29/04/2012 10:53

Well, plants are looking at me quizzically, unused as they are to sitting in the kitchen Grin Neighbours rubbish and tat belongings are still in their own gardens (so far), it's windy, wet & cold.

Would love to go out somewhere to sit inside & watch the weather - but can't think of anywhere - any suggestions OYBBK, PM me :) (my house is so square & insulated it's no fun!!)

SwallowedAFly Grin that was a bit mean!! I hope they were decent biscuits!!

GloriaSmud · 29/04/2012 11:22

I've just ventured out to Aldi and before I left, I noticed a pigeon sitting in a tree in our front garden. An hour later, it's still there but looking more bedraggled, poor thing! I didn't realise until I got in the car that not only is it windy and wet but it's cold as well ~ the car temp guage said it was 4C! It's the end of April for £$%^ sake! And despite me weighting it down earlier, my greenhouse has gone over again

GloriaSmud · 29/04/2012 11:48

Weather warning for tomorrow, heavy rain for SW England.

fussbucket · 29/04/2012 11:57

Heavy rain but less windy than earlier - NE Wilts. I ought to do something to the car and really really don't want to. Not actually life-threatening problem so may put it off...

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:01

and also warnings for tuesday. I fear that rainfall totals for SW England will be exceptionally high by the end of Tuesday.

I'm in Manchester (closer to Oldham) and the wind is really becoming quite wild. The rain has been pouring all morning.

There's a bird imprint on my DS's bedroom window but no sign of a bird so hopefully it wasn't injured.

Manchester marathon today - poor runners Sad

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:11

How is everyone else doing?
I'm having a lovely day admiring the weather. so nice to have a day where I can stay at home. Have had 16mm of rain since midnight (well over half an inch) Think it will reach 25mm before the day is out.
