Weather warnings for Sunday

Nasty low developing overnight tomorrow, giving some difficult conditions over Sunday for the southern half of England.

met office warnings which they say may be upgraded ( and I think they will looking at the models)

Unusually the storm will be moving from east to west with winds being north easterly- Easterly (again, relatively unusual) gusting to over 50 mph in the sw. Very heavy rain will be associated with this with high totals. Flooding is likely in places.

Please pay attention to latest met office earnings and if you are in a flood zone, the environment agency. Not a day to be out on the moors.

Will update tomorrow.

Southern Wales will also see very strong gusts and high rain totals.

If you are selling wellies or brollies then it will be excellent news puddlejumper (love your name btw)

Pascha, it is an impressive low. Part of it will depend on its final path of course. I expect the sw to bear the brunt of it.

Off to bed :) will update as soon as I can tomorrow.

Oh good.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/04/2012 07:13

all models are in agreement about this low developing, with not too much difference between them. Some subtle differences on the path of the low. This will make little difference in rainfall totals but will make some difference as to where the highest wind speeds end up but with the south west still bearing the brunt.

Interesting to note that the n/w tip of france will get it even worse in terms of rain.

Any idea when this bloody weather is going to improve? Grin

Marne · 28/04/2012 08:48

I think its going to improve slightly by the middle of next week but still no sign of a full dry day Sad.

We are in SW and live by the river which burst its banks a few days ago, i'm not sure how high the water will get tomorrow when we are forcast heavy rain and wind, luckily our house is on higher ground, our village is on high ground but you have to go down a hill to get out of the village which is where the river is, so chances are we will be unable to get out Sad.

PimpMyTunnel · 28/04/2012 08:56

Love having a weather lady on here Grin you should keep us updated everyday!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/04/2012 09:51

Pimp, when I'm paid Wink

Marne, not good. I assume you keep abreast of the environment agency flood warnings

Possible improvements towards the end of next week when high pressure builds near by. However it may not be enough to stop rain in the east. We shall see......

No real change, although, there is a lot more widespread rain today than any of the models showed, which will only add to the totals. However, if the models got today's rain wrong, how far out will they be over tonight's/tomorrow's weather???

Unfortunately Monday night into Tuesday is now looking wetter than ever and will be another time period to watch.

Really odd little amberwarning area in the west midlands

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 28/04/2012 15:04

I've just noticed that funny little amber warning area!
I'm also slightly Hmm at the weather today. I was expecting at bit more dry/odd sunny spell type weather but we've had drizzle/heavy showers and everyone in the family's laughing at me because I put the washing out.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/04/2012 17:43

Bump, to remind people to tether those trampolines and pop things away, remember the wind will be coming from an odd direction.

I'm in WM and I've stashed away all the garden toys. Ive also sprinkled a load of of chicken shit pellets liberally around the garden in preparation for a the rain!

PestoSansVesto · 28/04/2012 17:49

It's going bonkers here Kitten (South Coast, just outside Brighton). Extreeemely stormy. Have just come home from swimming outside and very pleased to be tucked up safely indoors.

Oh poor old dp He's in Portsmouth about to start a week of sailing in a tall ship. Or, realistically, a week of sitting in the pub. He's been sooooooo looking forward to it! Sad

Angelico · 28/04/2012 18:07

It is glorious here in NI. For a change

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 28/04/2012 18:11

I don't begrudge you a break from the misery Angelico! Enjoy it.

Seeker :( what rotten timing.

Its been pretty horrible here in Kent all afternoon.

KlickKlackknobsac · 28/04/2012 18:15

The West Midlands warning is well weird.

youarekidding · 28/04/2012 19:08

Wind built here (near Portsmouth) a few hours ago and now the rains started moving through.
