Weather warnings for Sunday

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 27/04/2012 22:55

Nasty low developing overnight tomorrow, giving some difficult conditions over Sunday for the southern half of England.

met office warnings which they say may be upgraded ( and I think they will looking at the models)

Unusually the storm will be moving from east to west with winds being north easterly- Easterly (again, relatively unusual) gusting to over 50 mph in the sw. Very heavy rain will be associated with this with high totals. Flooding is likely in places.

Please pay attention to latest met office earnings and if you are in a flood zone, the environment agency. Not a day to be out on the moors.

Will update tomorrow.

It's pretty blowy and damp here- getting steadily worse.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 29/04/2012 12:19

Oh don't be sorry, I asked for a good place, not a close place :) I can't think of anywhere that is both! I will definitely go there on a nice day though, looks lovely for the summer - the cafe might even be lovely today, just not sure I want to drive over there to find you can't 'see' the weather and the cafe is cold and dull :/ Not really in an adventuring mood today!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:23

THC, thats amazing!! but yes, looking at the radar I can see the clearance. you'll probably get a bit more rain before this storm is done for you.

Checking in late from Portsmouth Grin

Very windy here last night, was up all night with tooth abcess listening to it - I love the sound!

Got to drive 30 miles to a dentist in 2 hours - anyone know the state of the M3 or A32?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:24

Still raining but not as bad as I expected. The wind is really picking up though!

DH just gone to take DD to a Brownies Pool Party, I'll get a full road report from him shortly!

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:28

youarekidding - 30 miles to a dentist? You must love that dentist!! We will have to meet up in Winchester sometime - it's about half way :) Just realised it's Sunday too - is that an emergency dentist?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:46

bbc report wales

youarekidding · 29/04/2012 12:46

Yep, emergency dentist - my usual one is 10 minutes drive. I go to a fab one in L-on-S.

This one is in Winchester - knowing the M3 I could be in for some fun and thinking the A32 would not be a good choice of road today!

PS. I hate the dentist! ex-dental phobic cured by my current fab dentist

And yay to meeting sometime - we can discuss working seasons (ykwim?!)

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:52

Have updated my long term forecast here

woe. woe is us.

Bucketing down in North London. I'm sitting in the car outside a golf club with sleeping DS watching the rain on the wind screen. Everyone else from the christening party is inside eating and drinking Envy

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 12:54

oh that is crap spawn. Can you phone someone from inside and get them to bring out supplies?

OP posts:
SpawnOfObOb · 29/04/2012 12:58

I'm sure he'll wake up soon. Otherwise yes!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 29/04/2012 13:42

SE wind forecast has lessened for tomorrow, which is a relief

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 13:44

That is something, just the drowning rain to worry about then :)

Up to 20.4mm now. Once it stops I'm going for a walk to admire some streams near here.

OP posts:
Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 15:35

Had a nice walk :) streams are very high. Also, not so much grass, more lakes really.

I think our 'proper' pond has got delusions of grandeur and reached 'high tide'. We've also got a 2nd pond formed on the path right beside the first one and a 3rd water feature has started where the grass ends and my flower beds start, in the back garden (that shows how wet it's been because the last time it was like that, was a few years ago!) I suppose my job for tomorrow is to upright my greenhouse and weigh it down again, all ready for the next lot on Tuesday. After seeing the News24 forecast and comparing it with the metoffice warning (this is for Tuesday BTW), I'm wondering whether the metoffice will extend the northern edge of the warning a bit further north tonight/tomorrow.

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 16:45

Do you reckon we need a new thread for Tuesday, or just carry this one on?

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 29/04/2012 16:51

Mmmm, think a new one might be needed! Perhaps start one tomorrow as the details about Tuesday become clearer?

Ohyoubadbadkitten · 29/04/2012 18:23

Splendid idea.

Hello!

Yes, my weather station is on our back fence, anemometer is about 50cm above the fence, but well below roof height. It can see tors and the rest of north Devon from its spot though.

I'm not sure how to mount it on our chimneyless new build.

Rain gauge says 35.1mm rain in the last 24hrs, which is about half the April average (whole month).

Pressure at 981 hPa.

It's not calibrated, and it's not representative of everywhere, but is is the conditions in our little patch of Devon!

Hulababy · 29/04/2012 19:39

It's been dreadful here again. Rain non stop all day, cold and very very wet.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 29/04/2012 19:42

(oh, an it is only a mickey mouse maplin weather station. But it's my weather station and I LOVE it!)
