Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

I was still only wearing a t-shirt and light jumper Grin I used to live in the alps and go out only wearing a fleece when others had many layers on, I generally don't feel the cold - that's how I know it must actually BE cold Grin

MrsDeeBee · 01/02/2012 20:50

Well, OYBBK when is it going to get wet ? Wink Grin

Chipping - weather porn ? I never knew there was such a thing ! Grin

Very quick pop in before bed. Looks like snow showers could penetrate eastern counties tomorrow/friday but the big story is still Saturday night/Sunday with the some of the models (GFS and ecmwf) swinging back to snow, espec for south eastern areas but perhaps widespread!

shall see what the mornings models bring. g'night.

Wouldnt be surprised to see warnings pop up for the area around the Wash today. Looks like a bit of snow could build up there to me.

I am rather surprised that the Met office havent got an advanced warning for eastern areas for saturday/Sunday. I know there has been much uncertainty but it does look increasingly likely now that snow could be disruptive in some parts in the East - down through the SE. Perhaps one will appear today.

at the moment to my eyes it looks like Hampshire up could be the border between the snow/rain scenario this weekend, though it is likely that temporary snow will occur for many more as the trough crosses.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 02/02/2012 07:39

I'd prefer it waited until the weekend if you could arrange that :)

Right - off to work... will be back tonight to check on the updates for tomorrow/the weekend Grin

usualsuspect · 02/02/2012 07:43

It just snowed a bit here ,East Midlands

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 07:44

Chipping, you should be fine til the weekend - then you are in a bit of a borderline area. :) (well so says today's model outputs!)

aha usual! I think you might get the odd shower cropping up through the day.

BBC are saying we should have enough snow for a snowman on Sat.... but that it'd be gong by Sun would that play out by your reckoning, OYBBK?

mankyscotslass · 02/02/2012 08:07

Very frosty this morning - reading -2.2 at the moment.

So you reckon we will get snow here OYBBK?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 08:10

I have forgot where you are PPP! In the east I'm not convinced that would be true. Met office have positively warm temps for Sunday day on their map but GFS shows it staying just below freezing. So it really depends which one is correct.

off to work, back this afternoon.

We are expected to get snow in East Anglia this weekend according to Radio 2 just now!

Mirage · 02/02/2012 08:31

Snowing in Leicestershire.

PeneloPeePitstop · 02/02/2012 08:34

I'm in Horsham, OYBBK

GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 09:57

-2 this morning during the school run but no frost on the car (must be down to the really dry air) but we have had some snow flurries. Some thoughts on the weekend snow from netweather and The Weather Outlook. TWO are saying that here in Leicester, we're going to have snow most of the day on Sunday.
Interesting that the BBC1 weather after last nights news, hinted that for those in the east after this front has moved through, it might carry on being cold into next week.

PestoFrostissimo · 02/02/2012 10:07

Desperate for snow please here on South Downs of East Sussex (outskirts of Brighton)

Do you think there's a chance for us this coming weekend?

TobyLeWolef · 02/02/2012 10:21

Lovely blue sky here in Kent, but bitter!

I was talking to DP this morning about how surprised I am that except for the day we had snow, my car windscreen has been clear every morning (although the doors have been frozen shut). So that's down to how dry the air is, is it? I have no idea about this stuff, but that would obviously make sense.

So we're looking at snow at the weekend, huh?

:o

ChickensGoMeh · 02/02/2012 10:32

Light snow falling here this morning on the school run. Still flakes of it dotted about on cars etc (East Midlands).

GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 10:54

Pesto ~ (and these are my very amateur thoughts!) you might have a problem in that you're near the coast and I think the southern coastal areas tend to be slightly milder than inland areas. (There's someone on met-monkey that lives at Hastings and he's always saying that there's never any snow where he is when there's loads of the stuff everywhere else!) There again, if you're on the lovely South Downs which are (from what I remember of the area) a bit higher up, that could work in your favour to get you a covering. Hopefully OYBBK can look at the charts later and say whether you might be in for snow and whether I'm talking complete cr@p on this occasion!

Toby ~ looks like you might well have a good covering!

I think from what I remember, the metoffice update their weather forecasts/weather warnings at 11am, so we'll see what updates there are in a bit.

south345 · 02/02/2012 11:04

There was a very light 2 mon flurry of snow in east yorks half an hour ago

GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 11:35

No warnings from the metoffice yet but netweather have a Weather Alert out for the whole of the UK, from now until Sunday night.
