Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

BBC News was interesting last night - I can't remember the last time they did a graph showing the two possibilities for Saturday!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 01/02/2012 07:36

I didnt see it manky - but the models are really split (again)

Continuing snow showers in the east for the next couple of days (nothing for the majority) then Saturday night/Sunday could be a real mix of snow and rain or snow turning into rain or mostly snow or mostly rain. Absolutely impossible to tell at this stage. Then the question will be will it turn milder (UKMO and GFS models say yes) or will it remain cold (ECMWF says yes for a little longer)

Here it is 32 degrees - but I am in Thailand! :D

OhyouBadBadkitten · 01/02/2012 07:50

That sounds gorgeous!

No snow in east yorks not even frosty

OhyouBadBadkitten · 01/02/2012 08:10

Interestingly it was a warmer night than I expected. I've only recorded a low of -1.2C Unsure why as it wasnt that cloudy.

Well it is freezing here in west Wales, just had a friend call to say she won't be over later as she is completely snowed/iced in on her farm about 10 miles inland. Brrrrrrr.

GloriaSmud · 01/02/2012 10:10

-4 this morning when I went to clear the car.
Will be interesting to see what happens on Saturday. I'm going for the forecasters not being able to decide and whatever's going on outside your window, that's the weather for the day! (I think it's called 'nowcasting!')

mankyscotslass · 01/02/2012 10:48

DB in Northern Germany has been saying it's a bit "Brisk" at the moment. Grin

They haven't had as much snow as expected up til now though - their dogs are sled dogs and are looking a bit fed up!

PeneloPeePitstop · 01/02/2012 10:53

They're saying it's going to rain on Sat now Sad

pigsinmud · 01/02/2012 11:05

Same here - heavy snow turned to heavy rain.

PeneloPeePitstop · 01/02/2012 11:05

We're not even getting the snow bit Sad

pigsinmud · 01/02/2012 11:07

Sorry I meant the forecast of heavy snow has changed to heavy rain not that we're forecast heavy snow turning to heavy rain.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 01/02/2012 13:32

does seem to be veering more to the rain scenario for most now. Still, sometimes these things are wrong and is still only wednesday.
All models in agreement for a warm up though. Only question is in the timing.

we sat outside for coffee today - lovely in the sun (out of the wind)

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 01/02/2012 19:10

Did anyone see the ITV news - it was funny :) Talking about if the 'cold air' wins or the 'warm air' wins and what will happen either way... at least they've stopped pretending they've got a scooby.

It is FECKING FREEZING here in the SE - & I don't normally feel the cold... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

mycatsaysach - I was going to do that, but when I stepped outside I decided the heating where I was working was clearly far more effective than we give it credit for, it was brass monkey stuff outside.

mycatsaysach · 01/02/2012 19:16

softy Grin

JasperJohns · 01/02/2012 19:17

I'm in SE too and yes, it's freezing. Wood burner is raging but it's too near thermostat so everywhere else is freezing!

I want some snow!

youarekidding · 01/02/2012 19:24

It's cold down here Grin Only reading 0° but feels bitter.

JasperJohns · 01/02/2012 19:27

Ours is reading -2.8, brrr.

Hulababy · 01/02/2012 19:29

Bitterly cold here today. I did playground duty and although it was reasonably sunny it was so cold!

SecretNutellaFix · 01/02/2012 19:30

No snow here, but by God, it's freezing!

Milliways · 01/02/2012 19:38

My favourite weather website is yr.no (as used by all the Cambridge Uni Students -Norwegian site, has a great long term forecast by postcode :) ) and it shows we are getting light snow in Reading on Sunday 5th- but temps drop to -10 for Sat 11th!

MrsDeeBee · 01/02/2012 19:38

It must be cold enough to snow now, surely ?

I haven't seen any yet this winter, apart from on the tv.

Wouldn't want to be in certain parts of Europe tonight though. Now that's freezing.
