Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

Now we have some metoffice warnings! Grin

pigsinmud · 02/02/2012 13:18

Ooh exciting. Some for us on Sunday. Mind you dh has got to get in & out of central London on Sat & Sun so better not be too much.

EdithWeston · 02/02/2012 13:31

Just watching BBC lunchtime weather - they're saying the cold air is winning. It's blue and frosty everywhere, but not terribly clear about likelihood of weekend snow.

PeneloPeePitstop · 02/02/2012 13:43

metoffice site not working for me, keeps crashing

Kayzr · 02/02/2012 13:48

Teeny tiny snowflakes in north Yorkshire. Not settling though.

mankyscotslass · 02/02/2012 13:51

Lovely view across to the snowy Pennines from the school playground at lunchtime.

Not a sniff of the white stuff locally though!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 13:55

Bloody met office warning page. I can see there are warnings, just not where!

OP posts:
fatsatsuma · 02/02/2012 13:56

MetOffice site still not working properly. Are they being overwhelmed by the volume of people wanting to know if it's finally going to snow? Grin

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:05

ok, going to take me a few minutes to catch up. Gloria, can you remember where the warning areas were for?

Toby - it is exactly that, the air is too dry to give frosts. I have an outdoor humidity reading of 32%

Pesto, I think it is possible if it is heavy enough. Out of curiosity, do you have a thermometer? Would love to know how your local reading compares with official temps.

PPP - I think it is going in the direction of 'could last for a bit'. If GFS is right then yes it would hang around. I think the UKMO has it more marginal though.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:07

Manky - I think you could be unlucky I'm afraid and end up with wet.

OP posts:
mankyscotslass · 02/02/2012 14:09

Thanks for looking.

Oh well, ther is always next winter...

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:10

I am in Norfolk and completely failed to find a sledge in the shops this morning so no snow this weekend please!

BelleDameSansMerci · 02/02/2012 14:14

Rain, rain come again, keep that nasty snow away...

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:21

Belle, rain would be quite handy for some, rather a severe drought down here!

manky - you might get a bit for a while Saturday as the front comes across.

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 14:22

OYBBK ~ think from memory, it was from the Midlands eastwards, covering Norfolk and Kent as well. Then there was a yellow splodge over Wales and Gloucestershire towards the West Midlands (think it was done this way to cover the front turning to snow and then moving eastwards over the 2 days. There was talk on the lunchtime weather that the front might stall over the midlands/east of the country and give snow all day.)

PeneloPeePitstop · 02/02/2012 14:23

shhhhh Belle

GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 14:23

It's all gone a bit wrong on the met-offices warning page!

iseenodust · 02/02/2012 14:30

Just one or two tiny bits of white fluff. Nothing proper. Sky the right colour though here in E Yorks.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:31

thats sounds about right - thanks Gloria :)

the movement of the trough certainly is up in the air (as so to speak!) and a lot of the forecast accuracy will depend on predicting that.

OP posts:
MrsDeeBee · 02/02/2012 14:48

No warning for here on the met site. (South East) Sad

I was getting all excited, I shall be most miffed if it snows Saturday night and it's gone before I get up. Angry

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 14:54

are you coastal MrsD? I still cant get on the warnings page....

OP posts:
PestoFrostissimo · 02/02/2012 14:55

Thank you Gloria, you've given me hope - we are up high on the Downs where we always seem to get hit worse than low-lying Brighton. In fact we seem to have our own little micro-climate Grin

We do have an outdoor thermometer, but I don't think it's registering correctly - currently showing -10 degrees C!

MrsDeeBee · 02/02/2012 14:58

Sadly no, OYBBK ! Buckinghamshire.

Which usually means we watch above get lots of snow, then below and to the right a bit, and it misses us completely !

I have loved the past few winters where we have had guaranteed snow. It feels wrong this season not to have had any.

Grin
OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 15:02

-10!!!! thats not quite right I think Grin shoreham (which I think is the nearest official station to you) is 1.5c
