Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

Nothing doing here in South Derbyshire

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 13:18

good thinking lubey!

funky - I'm wincing a bit on your behalf! it could be pretty heavy and then down the track later ice could be a problem! I have to say, the one time I've had to come out of clapham under those conditions (when the whole of the SE traffic seem to grind to a halt) the trains coped remarkably well but I dont know if that is usually the case.

yay manky :)

Started up again here-big fluffy flakes and the hills have disappeared!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 13:20

Admiring how large the amber warnings have grown - if you are out them its quite bad luck!

aj - I dunno - leaving it til lunchtime goes in your favour a bit. Could be quite picturesque - except that fog will follow the snow tomorrow in many places!

Thank you - would hate DS not to get back from the start of his second Semester! Don't think he'd worry too much though!!

Mirage · 04/02/2012 13:26

Nothing in Leics yet,but I don't think we are meant to get it until after 4pm.I'm taking the girls out to ride now, just in case.Dpony will not be impressed to be ridden in a snowstorm.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 04/02/2012 13:27

desperately waiting my turn but it will probably be dark when it starts here

funky
Last time we had heavy snow the diesel trains and the lines with lots of heavy freight were fine...it was the electric (third rail) lines that had the problems. I think the overhead wire trains were OK...Croydon Tramlink was the only thing unaffected in our neck of the woods. Buses, trains and cars couldn't cope, DS had to walk 4 miles home from Croydon.

DP will be riding his bike home from Central London this evening

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 13:32

Very small flakes now but settling. Grin

OOh BIG FLAKES. YAY!

GloriaSmud · 04/02/2012 13:40

Nothing here in Leicester but it's very cloudy with a bitter wind. Temperatures were a 'slightly warmer' -1C when we got back from shopping at 11.30. Nice to see the councils are getting prepared; there was gritting going on in the town centre and along the M69.

GloriaSmud · 04/02/2012 13:47

Lots of snow reports coming in here. (Site is quite slow because of all the reports coming in!)

TeWihara · 04/02/2012 13:50

We have ages too OYBBK, trying to decide whether to take DD out if it starts after dark just in case it melts over night...

lubeybooby · 04/02/2012 13:50

Gloria hopefully shouldn't be long for us leicestershiriririians now. Things seem to indicate it will be 2pm ish for light snow and 5pm ish for heavy. Hurrrrry upppp!

PeneloPeePitstop · 04/02/2012 13:54

Netweather reckons we're not getting it Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2012 13:55

If we are going to get the sledges out it's going to have to get a lot heavier than this. The road is now white but it's still a bit 'meh'. Sad

mankyscotslass · 04/02/2012 13:57

Very odd - just been to Stockport to collect new glasses - there has been a dusting of snow there, but it's now hail/sleet.

Got back to Denton and the snow is still falling heavily, and we have a real covering.

What a difference 2 miles makes!
