Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

Any predictions for Sittingbourne? Do I hit Aldi for a bit of panic buying? (see what I did there? Clever reference to another thread?)

rubyslippers · 03/02/2012 18:13

Thank you so much!

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 03/02/2012 18:16

OYBBK - Brew - what's it looking like for us now? It's fecking freeeeeezing here, the poxy little electric heater just isn't up to this!! Might be forced to go to the local pub tomorrow and sit in front of their open fire - that would be terrible. I sat outside today (at the pub) and had a latte - I was the only one out there. It was 'fresh' but pretty and I need the VitD!!

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 18:23

OYBBK, any ideas on North Yorkshire over the weekend please? I have my 20 week scan on Monday and they sometimes close the road to the town where the hospital is. The hospital is in Malton if that helps.

I know N Yorks is a large place.

Thank you very much!!!!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 18:27

chipping looks a little tight tbh! I think you are on the snow side of things - certainly for a good while and hopefully for the whole thing. Little bit nail biting though. I think the pub is essential! (considers option for self)
I have my lovely open fire going - just put on loads of wood and coal - if you dont hear from me again I accidentally burned the house down (shouldnt really joke about that)

seeker - I hate trying to forecast for coastal towns but I reckon you should be getting some snow :)

ruby you are welcome :)

I suppose one worry is that the front might fizzle out before it gets all the way across. that would be mean of it.

ok, am off for a warming bath - catch you all later!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 18:31

kayzr - looking very snowy Saturday night for N. Yorks but Sunday is looking ok (though not thawing) I guess it depends on how quickly they can clear the roads.
right really off for a bath before I get known as ohyouverysmellykitten.

What about Oxford?? We are meant to be moving on Sunday, hiring a van etc... Could be a nightmare although the dc will love it!

Labradorlover · 03/02/2012 19:12

Bastard, bastard weather......
Have been slap bang in the middle of practically every fecking, stupid, wind warning this winter.
And now have snow warnings to the North and South, but not us. It's not sodding fair Angry
( goes off to smash all the sledges )

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 19:21

oh lablover :(

Staverton. It could be challenging! Snow likely tomorrow night, but quite possibly turning slushy Sunday.

Minus 2 here.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 19:55

tis getting addictive watching it plumet. -4.7 now.

OP posts:
rosieposey · 03/02/2012 20:04

I wonder how accurate the temp gauges on cars are? Mine said -9 this morning out in the country (in the shade) on the school run. It really is incredibly cold.

Met Office warning is Amber just the other side of us (I'm North Wiltshire) so i am really really hoping for a good dusting, i suppose its whether the temps stay cold enough for snow, it does still say heavy snow for 1800 hours but i guess its a look out the window job.

If Essex is going to get a good fall we might go and see my sister on Sunday ( take some sledges) I'm determined to get a couple of hours in the snow even if we have to drive a little bit to see it.

GlitterKitty · 03/02/2012 20:10

From the sits I can find London looks like sleet now. Its v confusing. I want TONS of crisp snow not sodding drizzle Angry

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 03/02/2012 20:16

I wish I had an open fire :( I would love love love to have a real fire.

OYVSK - feel free to join me at the pub tomorrow :)

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 20:19

Thanks OYBBK. They are usually pretty quick at getting it clear. I wish it would wait until half term. Then I don't need to go out at all except to make snowmen.

Portofino · 03/02/2012 20:25

Well it took me 3 hours to get home from work! The tram got stuck on a hill and we all had to get off - miles from the school. I had a proper full on panic attack. Flagged down a bus going in the direction of where I left the car this morning.......Stressed!

whomovedmychocolate · 03/02/2012 20:40

Starverton - I'm in Oxford, it's Very, Very, Cold. My cars had thick ice on them at 8pm despite only getting home at 6pm. If we don't get snow it will be very icy. Luckily Oxford folks are friendly and will push you out of a snowdrift with your van. I'm in Kidlington, which is north oxford - do you want me to PM you if it actually snows?

RebeccaMumsnet · 03/02/2012 20:54

OYBBK you really are very clever

Many thanks

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 20:57

rosie - I dont think car thermometers are terrible always, depends where they are situated on the car.

-5.7C now.

Porto - nightmare!!!

Chipping - will have to take you up on it sometime :) it would be nice!
Glitter met office SE doesnt show sleet

OP posts:
OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 20:57

OP posts:
Staverton · 03/02/2012 20:58

Thanks oybbk!

And thanks wmmc- we're actually moving from one part of north Oxford to another but need to get van - from kidlington on Sunday! Sure it will be fine although maybe we'll try and book a van on Saturday instead. Hmm maybe not as then we might get caught in it actually falling!

So am pretty close to you then!Smile
