Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

My poor mum, we're in East Surrey on the Kent border and she's supposed to be going to Hackney to do her Olympics training on Sunday morning. I guess she's going to have a real nightmare getting there!

OYBBK, I've been very rash and promised ds we'll go sledging on Sat/sunday, we're not far from Gatwick so please tell me I haven't committed an utter boo boo! He's been eyeing up the sledge all winter.

headfairy · 03/02/2012 15:04

oops whatisPi our snow/anti snow dances might cancel each other out! When you going? I have a friend flying to the Caribbean on Sunday from Gatwick, I'm hoping there's just plenty of snow for sledging but not enough to close the airport. Gatwick have invested heavily in new de-icing and runway clearance machinery this year, to avoid a repeat of last years closure.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:06

I think you will be ok headfairy, though it wouldnt be til Sunday (unless you fancy a midnight sledge!) no guarantees though I'm afraid.

tak1ngchances - he should be fine. Hard ground though!

headfairy · 03/02/2012 15:08

yeah it looked like it wasn't going to get to us until later... but the BBC forecasters are showing what looks like rain behind it. But they're still saying dire things about London and the South east, surely that wouldn't be the case if it warmed up enough to rain?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:09

quick reminder once again - this is my hobby - have had no formal training, only stuff I've taught myself and a short course. (before you all sue me on Sunday for disappointment!)

OYBBK, I have friends coming from Manchester tomorrow, driving, and leaving at around 1:30pm, coming to west coast of cumbria - what do you reckon?

tak1ngchances · 03/02/2012 15:10

Awww Kitten we know it's your hobby. But you really are so good at it. Don't mind us, we're not expecting miracles (we've got the snow[-dance/anti-snow dance for that!)

pigsinmud · 03/02/2012 15:10

headfairy - I'm a bit more west in surrey than you and we have a dollop of heavy snow and then sleet according to the forecast on met office. I've got a bad feeling in my bones ....bad as in no snow.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:10

I think the bbc are struggling to convey some of the uncertainty that lies around the south coast (and western areas) I think its quite hard in these circs for them to keep on top of the latest info at a local level.

Poor OYBBK, the burden of responsibility must be so heavy! My dh gets totally exasperated at all the speculation about where will or won't get snow. It's all so unpredicatable, he says we should just wait and see, but where's the fun in that?

I'm bit of a weather geek, I find it all fascinating, but I have nowhere near the skills you have.

headfairy · 03/02/2012 15:12

schilke jump in the car and drive round to Reigate, we've got a spare sledge :o

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:12

qo - looks like it could be quite a tricky journey for them. Is there any chance they could set off in the morning?

OP posts:
pigsinmud · 03/02/2012 15:14

Thanks headfairy! I just obsessively checked again and now have 2 dollops of heavy snow and 2 light snow - all through the night in other words. I think I should stop checking. Dh thinks it's an unhealthy obsession!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:14

I do get a bit worried sometimes headfairy, in case I get it terribly wrong!!!

I agree with you though. Tis good to speculate. for instance it means that we can be prepared with hot chocolate, squirty cream and marshmallows. If we waited until it snowed they'd be all gone Shock

going to lie down with my netbook for a bit, so won't have so easy access to the models (they dont fit on the screen so well) but I can still chat :)

schilke your dh sounds eerily like mine :o

OYBBK always good to chuck in a disclaimer every now and then in case someone sues because they thought this weekend was a perfect time to throw that BBQ party for 200 in their back garden, complete with steel drum band and faux palm trees :o

iseenodust · 03/02/2012 15:20

Passes OYBBK Brew and Biscuit. Your request answered too!

tak1ngchances · 03/02/2012 15:22

hope you get well v soon OYBBK. To be fair, bed is the nicest place to be today. Hope you've got nice cosy clothes. I am wearing fleece from head to toe (sexy lady alert)

ChasTittyBeltUp · 03/02/2012 15:31

kitten do you know if Cheshire is included in the Amber warning at all? How do I find that out please?

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:36

hmm so my drive from SW Herts into the Chilterns for work on Monday early morning could be slippery. I may leave it until sun-up.

OhyouBadBadkitten · 03/02/2012 15:45
