Can't promise that I'll be able to add as much as I usually do (not very well atm) so its quite likely I might miss stuff but I've added a few thoughts to that thread re the current set up and tis easier if I just keep it in one place.

I have put marshmallows and cocoa on our shopping list.

Hi all :)

It's fucking freezing here. I am almost MN blue...

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 19:39

It is interesting how dry it is, my weather station reckons that dew point is -7.8C - thats the temp we would need to reach here to get a frost. At -2.1C now but I've been looking at graphs of my house temp Blush and noticed day by day it is getting colder despite the heating not having been changed.

nooooooooooooo, we can't have snow. I am helping my mother moved from the Midlands to Wales tomorrow. We will be in Wales all weekend. The Met office is showing weather warnings for the Midlands and Wales. Damn Damn Damn Damn

EdithWeston · 02/02/2012 20:05

OYBBK: try adding spray cream to the shopping list. I usually think it's an abomination, but it just sits so well on top of hot chocolate and mini marshmallows sit so well in it.

ThePhantomPlopper · 02/02/2012 20:10

It's going to miss the Isle of Wight - as always! Boo!!

RebeccaMumsnet · 02/02/2012 20:12

It is DD's birthday party on Saturday please let the snow wait until after 3pm in Bath.

What do you reckon OYBBK?

Whatevertheweather · 02/02/2012 20:25

Oooh I think we're the only teensy bit of the central southern mainland not covered by the Amber alert Envy I am remaining optimistic though

funkybuddah · 02/02/2012 20:32

Ive just seen the warnings and I really want a massive load of snow that foces us to stay home.

BUT Im meant to be in london on saturday night and I must be on the last train back to north hampshire, Im thinking if it starts i should stay in hants rather than travel? (cant do with the expense of hotels etc or having a hangover in waterloo)

GloriaSmud · 02/02/2012 20:39

Rebecca ~ just put Bath into netweather and it comes up with this for chance of snow for you. OYBBK will know more though.

I'm Grin at the metoffice site because even though we're under the weather warning for both Saturday and Sunday, the only snow it comes up with is 'light snow' for Saturday night!

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 20:49

Rebecca, GFS has the precip over you by then but the UKMO model gives you enough time with the trough coming in a little slower. I think that the gfs is probably being a bit quick with it so I tend to think that you will be ok but it could be a bit tight so fingers crossed (and I'll try to update tomorrow afternoon, when hopefully things will be a bit clearer - prompt me if I forget)

whomovedmychocolate · 02/02/2012 20:51

Still no bloody snow here Hmm

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 20:55

OP posts:
OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 21:03

funky, dont decide yet, but you may well be sensible to cancel or alter it, if it turns out as it look like it might at the moment it could be rather grim. Keep an eye on things tomorrow.

OP posts:
Whatevertheweather · 02/02/2012 21:07

Oh oh grim is good Grin all the way down to south Hampshire! Alton/Basingstoke always get more than us. Have a few friends up that way and am always Envy at their snow pictures. In the big snow in January 2010 (?) it took me 9 hours to get from Winchester home about 25 miles I loved it, it was all so crazy people wandering around the m27 sharing thermos' at midnight.

funkybuddah · 02/02/2012 21:31

Alton gets loads more, my sister lives there, im always v jealous. We've done well the past few years for a change.

Thank you OYBBK Im going to wait until saturday and then contact friend , will be gutted not to make her party though but I need a proper bed when drunky, although there are some sofas I could kip on, it just doesnt cut it.

Plus we have to get home for kids etc lol.

If you could arrange for it to start early evening I would apreciate it lol

pepperrabbit · 02/02/2012 21:37

and north Hampshire! please? It's my birthday on Monday and all I want is snow (and a new phone).

MrsDeeBee · 02/02/2012 21:45

OYBBK Grin

Looking good !

Is there any sort of 'snow dance' we can do to increase our chances of SIGNIFICANT snowfall ?

Would it help if I ran round the garden tonight (nekked ?) and for the next couple of nights "woo-wooing" ?

pepperrabbit · 02/02/2012 21:47

You'll freeze your tits off.
Grin

OliviaMumsnet · 02/02/2012 21:48

okay so it was so icy here in this morning that I was swept off the road...and nearly crashed the car. Shock
I have something to collect from ebay on sunday and hope that it is not going to be snowing then.
thoughts?

MrsDeeBee · 02/02/2012 21:48

Yes I know but imagine the SNOW ! Grin

DialsMavis · 02/02/2012 21:52

Can it not wait until Sun night please? I am leaving London for the weekend for the first time this winter this weekend and no not want to miss the snow.
I have a 9 year old who got a sledge for Christmas, he needs some snow in his life!
My Dad is flying in for a visit from Sydney on Sun- ooh its going to feel a bit nippy for him Grin

Kellamity · 02/02/2012 22:08

How exciting!!! Grin

OhyouBadBadkitten · 02/02/2012 22:27

london Olivia? at the moment, looks like significant snow is rather possible. Will obv update with any chanhes tomorrow. Dials - depending on how much you get I think it will still be hanging around (but may have had a partial thaw perhaps followed by refreeze. Could make Monday am very icy - that is speculation territory though)

ok, off to bed :) sleep well all, extra blankets for me tonight!
