Hoping someone will keep me company while @ppeatfruit is away...

SapatSea · 18/01/2022 09:55

I'll try and keep you company PartTime. Sounds like you had a great fusion dish at Wagamamma.
We'll miss you ppeatfruit. Hope you have a nice time in Blighty.

I was a dizzy mess last week so didn't post as crackers with the odd dish of steamed veg and a spoon of rice on repeat each day isn't very interesting.

B: porridge, pear puree, seeds
L: Dal, roti, some giant pak choi that was lurking and starting to wilt in the fridge
D: Cauliflower steak, romesco sauce, black rice, cavolo nero
www.feastingathome.com/roasted-cauliflower-with-romesco-sauce/
It was nice, quite rich. I wouldn't want it too often.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 19/01/2022 06:49

Thanks @SapatSea! Sorry to hear you had a bad week last week ☹️

Yesterday

B: porridge with sultanas and seeds
L: Bosh fried rice (freezer again!)
D: Dahl, roasted cauliflower and purple sprouting broccoli, flatbread
S: Apple, unsalted cashews

SapatSea · 19/01/2022 15:49

Dal is so great isn't it? I think if I was single I'd eat it everyday - so gentle and comforting and can be changed with the addition of different veg.

B: Apple, seeded oatcakes
Sn: Salted Pringles, mini magnum
L: Leftover dal, pak choi, coriander, lemon, M&S roti, red onion and tomato "pickle"/salsa
D: Shredded savoy cabbage, peas, baby potatoes, beetroot, horseradish( H was having mackerel)

KobaniDaughters · 20/01/2022 03:01

Hello! Sorry I’ve been awol too and sorry to her about your bad week @SapatSea

Both of you are making me very hungry for curry

I’ve just been slammed with work and both kids have covid (j have everything symptom but testing negative) and just not online much

Today though:
L: lentil soup and salad
S: cashews
D: DH made spicey courgette and aubergine ramen from vegan Japaneasy and it was delicious

SapatSea · 20/01/2022 18:32

KobaniDaughters sorry to hear that you have Covid at home. I hope everyone has minimal symptoms.

The soup from Japaneasy is intrsting. It looks like a good cook book to get ideas from.

B: Porridge, seeds, raisins
L: Channa masala, lemon spring greens, roti.
Sn: Choc chip hobnobs, pringles (one of those days)
D: Tofu, rice, steamed vegetables.

KobaniDaughters · 20/01/2022 20:17

@SapatSea it’s one of our favourites! Everything we make is so good and we are totally converted to making our own dashi - always have dried kombu and shiitake mushrooms in the cupboard these days!

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 20/01/2022 21:58

@SapatSea - totally agree about Dahl. I'd planned something else that night but all I wanted was the comfort of dahl
Welcome back @KobaniDaughters 😊
That ramen sounds amazing

Yesterday was an unusual food day as I was at an off site training day and all food was provided. I had a sort of shortbread covered with jam or fruit compote and a crumble topping mid morning. Lunch was a ploughman's for everyone else, mine was a pretty plain salad with salad potatoes, a vegan pasty and half an apple.
Dinner was shepherdess pie with buttered leeks, roast carrots, broccoli, Swiss chard and gravy

Today
B: dates, trek bar
L: leftover Dahl and roast cauliflower, flatbread
D: small salad, broccoli and garlic bread with Bosh hummus pasta from my new Bosh book. It was ok but I felt it was missing something...

KobaniDaughters · 21/01/2022 01:03

Is hummus pasta basically pasta with hummus stirred through?

DH made me a falafel wrap for lunch and I just snacked on Bombay Mix. He’s going to do fish for him and D.C. this evening and there’s a tofu and kimchi hotpot in the freezer for me but I feel like indulging myself and ordering in, except no idea what I want really….

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 21/01/2022 07:28

@KobaniDaughters yes, essentially! Some red onion/garlic/sundried tomatoes fried off and added too, but that was mostly it. Just not enough flavour
Hope you ordered something delicious in 😬

KobaniDaughters · 21/01/2022 21:42

Ordered in Indian from a place I’ve picked up at before and loved but it wasnt great

KobaniDaughters · 22/01/2022 04:32

L: pita stuffed with a Syrian bean spread, avocado and salad
S: Bombay mix, tahini chocolate turmeric cookie
D: thai green curry, satay tofu, garlic green beans

SapatSea · 22/01/2022 11:04

I often find takeaway/restaurant food disappointing, inconsistent and not the treat I was expecting these days.

B: Hot chocolate, seeded oatcakes, blueberries
L: Leftover Channa Masala from yesterday, roti, green beans
D: Smoky black eyed beans, garlic spring greens, gremolata
www.feastingathome.com/black-eyed-peas-recipe/
I just used canned beans and wasn't expecting this to be great - I mainly cooked it as it was easy and H could have sausages with it but the gremolata really lifted it all to be something more unusual and bright.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 23/01/2022 22:04

Evening all. Hope everyone has had a nice weekend

Friday

B: porridge with sultanas
L: chorizo and bean stew
D: chickpea curry, curried cabbage, rice and mango chutney
S: chipsticks, mini magnum

Saturday

L: ‘cheese’ on toast. It was in the vegan food and living mag - oil, milk, nooch, cornflour and salt cooked up. Was ok but didn’t quite scratch the cheese on toast itch I’ve had for a while
D: Richmond sausages, roast potatoes/parsnips/carrots/butternut, braised red cabbage, peas, broccoli and gravy.
Marmalade roly-poly and custard (recipe from Saturday guardian, 2 helpings lol)

Today

B: 2 crumpets with plant butter and marmite
L: beans on toast with reggae sauce and nooch
D: minestrone with roasted pine nuts and crusty bread and butter
S: collective raspberry yogurt, cream cheese and crackers

KobaniDaughters · 24/01/2022 03:15

Gosh you’re so good at remembering what you had over 3 days!!

Today was picky most of the day, tahini and avocado on toast, a few oranges, some pickles. Then DS made sheperdless pie and rosemary garlic potatoes and peas for dinner

SapatSea · 24/01/2022 09:07

What a lovely dinner and made for you too Kobani

Yesterday I made some dal and vegetables for lunch and as H was having a meat feast casserole type dinner I just had a small bowl of tofu, rice and veg that the kids had made.

Today will be :
L: Goodlife beanburger and salad
D: Moroccan Sheprdless pie (basically some Ras el hanout, spinach and green pepper in the lentil mix and a sweet potato top) with whatever veg is left in the fridge (as my grocery delivery is on Tuesdays)

KobaniDaughters · 25/01/2022 03:44

L: tried out Just Egg for the first time as I’ve been craving scrambled eggs and it was pretty good! Had it with the vegan feta, spinach, spring onions, coriander and chilli
D: tofu and kimchi stew

FridaRose · 25/01/2022 05:15

@KobaniDaughters

L: jalapeño chao cheddar and spinach quesadilla, blueberries D: Mexican feast of tortilla crisps, guac, salsa, queso, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers, crispy jalapeños with pimms!
I'm a size 8 but this sounds like under eating. Was this a fasting type of day or something? It's okay for a day here or there, but consistently it's v little food
KobaniDaughters · 25/01/2022 05:33
Hmm
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 25/01/2022 08:48

Lol. I'm good at remembering to note what I've eaten in my phone (mostly!). Not always so good at remembering to post 😂
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 25/01/2022 08:48

Yesterday was

B: Monday smoothie
L: leftover minestrone with pine nuts
D: bubble and squeak made with vivera facon pieces, roasted cherry tomatoes, avocado and beetroot

TwittleBee · 25/01/2022 08:54

Hi, hope it's okay for me to jump in too, need some inspiration as well as keeping track of what I actually consume

Mention of takeaways... we have 2 ridiculously good take aways. We enjoyed the Nepalese one far too often. They do a smoked aubergine curry which I'm tempted to recreate this week at home (or at least attempt).

Yesterday:

B: nut butter on toast
S: cookies (asda Plant Based cookies)
L: red pesto pasta salad with plenty more nuts
S: oates
D: red wine ragu with spaghetti (reheated as was batch cooked)
S: donut & skittles

The donut and skittles were very much needed to keep me awake with DS3 until 3am as he was ill
