ppeatfruit The beetroot and parsnip rosti was fine but really not worth the faff and mess. I think some roasted cubes of the veg would have been just as nice (although different texture).

Hello to newbies and returners.

Yesterday:
B:G&b Hotchoclate and seeded oatcakes
L: Fried up leftover cabbage, potatoes beetroot, parsnip and added some mushrooms, chilli flakes and chives. Tom Ketch. Lovely after a very chilly walk.
D: Kids cooked me tofu, edamame, leeks, carrots. broccoli and rice, soy.

Today:
B: Hot chocolate, pistachio cookies, apple
L: mashed potato, vegan sausage, cabbage, scallions, peas
D: Riced cauliflower lots of toasted seeds and nuts, green pepper, raisins, grated carrot, dill and parsley, E.V. Olive oil, garlic, preserved lemon , harissa dressing. Flatbread.

KobaniDaughters · 08/01/2022 05:14

L: tofu scramble with feta and chilli sauce
S: Bombay mix
D: took my parents to our favourite pizza place and shared 3 pizzas, some fried artichokes and eggplant Parmesan

Spending the weekend at Disneyland….wish me luck!!!

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 08/01/2022 08:18

@ppeatfruit - from Ocado (although also available from Amazon)
@Ostryga - nice trick. My favourite pizza cheese is pizza express, but at home I generally just go without and that's surprisingly nice especially if the base is decent. I sometimes make the base but we all rate the frozen northern dough co pizza bases too, have you tried those?
@SapatSea - your bowl type dinner sounds amazing. I think I need to find my groove with that kind of meal. It's all about the dressing, right?
@KobaniDaughters - good luck 😂

Yesterday was
B: porridge with sultanas and seeds
L: celeriac and watercress soup, sandwich (half filled with vegan pate and half filled with squeaky bean pastrami, sliced gherkins and mustard)
D: gyoza, bao bun and wok greens
S: salted nuts, Whitaker's orange creams

ppeatfruit · 08/01/2022 15:12

I know exactly what you mean about rosti Sapat it always sounds so nice but it's such a faff to make. I'm a bit like that with pancakes too, so nice on pancake day (once a year Grin ) but I don't bother at any other time of the year ,it's the frying in my case . I try not to eat very high temp. fried food very often.

Thanks Part I can't get ocado here. We do sometimes order stuff from Ireland (who are ,of course, IN the EU!) the orders from Eng. are getting more and more expensive.

B. Ground pumpkin seeds, soaked prunes/ filtered water, apples and apple juice with fresh ginger smoothie.
L. Hm Root and leek soup with pumpernickel. Tofu vanilla dessert. with grated choc.
S. Fennel, celery and shallot salad with Kamut toast and usual spreads

L: at Bengal BBQ in Adventure Land, shared with DS we had grilled vegetable kebabs with steamed rice and a vegan slaw, and three types of hummus with a selection of raw veg - all very delicious
S: Mickey Mouse pretzel (requested no butter) and some weird “green milk” from Star Wars land, dole pineapple whip

And a frozen pina colada by the pool at the hotel

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 09/01/2022 09:13

@KobaniDaughters good food day 😊

Disneyland and lots of vegan food - who would have thought?

Did you make the Bao buns PartTime or are they the ones Ocado sell? I l considered getting the Mindful bites vegan Pannetone but chickened out at the price/versus poor experiences in the past. Nice to hear it was good. My DD's love the La Boulangere vegan croissants and pain au chocolats so we spend quite a lot on those (when they are actually in stock).

B: G&B hot chocolate made with hot water and Oatly barista top and a few digestives. Unhealthy but I seem to crave it this past week.
L: Meera Sodha Simply spiced cabbage, cumin roasted chickpeas and roti
D: Black rice, edamame, peas, ginger. garlic, spring onion, white pepper, sesame oil, pak choi, soy.

KobaniDaughters · 10/01/2022 02:23

Yeah I was pretty impressed. Day two at California Adventure and I’ve basically eaten impossible meat all day

B: shared a breakfast wrap with DH of impossible sausages, just egg, cheese and tater tots in a pita style wrap thing
L: impossible meat and Pickled onions on cheese stuffed arepas

On our way home and prob just going to throw on a packet of ramen noodles for a quick dinner before collapsing

ppeatfruit · 10/01/2022 09:53

Is "Impossible meat" an American thing Kobani Do you know what's in it? Your parents have gone now?

B: overnight oats with blueberries, kiwi and seeds
L: sausage and bean stew
D: quiche, roasted carrots, cauliflower and cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli
S: small protein shake, eat natural chocolate nut bar (not vegan because of honey but I bought a big box and DD isn’t eating them quickly enough and I hate food waste!)

ppeatfruit · 13/01/2022 08:30

Yesterday was my birthday and Iam afraid to admit [whispers] Grin We went out for a special lunch ( It wasn't just a bit of honey that wasn't vegan!!!) It wasn't even THAT good annoyingly! There aren't any veggie restaurants locally let alone vegan.

Oh I HATE wasted food too. We're lucky here because we have cats 2 outside who eat the food left by our picky inside one. Also I leave any of dh's meaty\fatty\cheesy etc. waste for the pheasants or whatever (everything always goes we have no idea what eats it !) right at the end of the garden, And breadcrumbs, old seeds etc. for the birds

Ah well

Last night I made pulled jackfruit in the slow cooker, will have that for lunch with avocado and salad.

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 13/01/2022 21:06

Happy birthday for yesterday @ppeatfruit! Shame your lunch wasn't that great - sometimes I just enjoy someone else doing the cooking though, as long as it's not terrible 😂

@Curlyreine I haven't had pulled jackfruit for ages. How long did you cook it in the slow cooker?

Yesterday

L: celeriac risotto with roasted cherry tomatoes (I love my freezer!)

Safe travels again @ppeatfruit. Will do my best to keep the thread going while you're away 😂

D: GRT minestrone with chilli oil and pine nuts, with crusty bread and plant butter

Kobani hopefully he'll be fine; It does seem that omicron is everywhere now, both our dil and her sister, also her partner have had it, It's innocuous, but they have to isolate too. They all have stressful jobs, so need the rest IMO ! I've had delta and the 3 jabs so I shouldn't get it but who knows when you're travelling about, mask or no mask.
