Welcome back to the thread @ppeatfruit how was everyone at home and how is the family doing? I’m sure the run up to Christmas is going to be tough for you all, and that you have some time to grieve still. Have been thinking of you.

Yesterday I ate my own body weight in Tahini, went to an Israeli restaurant for dinner with a friend and everyone was beyond delicious

ppeatfruit · 16/12/2021 17:17

AAaah thank you soo much Kobani Our son is a musician and he came to Mum's (who is 93) and sang Carols with us, We all had a weep but it was beautiful. I think our daughters are still truamatised but we're over the worst. We'll never forget her of course.

Ugh parents are here and we’re hosting a Christmas dinner on 22nd - mum can’t face the thought of no meat - quote “we have to do a meat centre piece because there are more meat eaters than not” told if she wants to she buys it and cooks it. But I’m going to host an all vegan festive dinner one year with no bloody complaints

ppeatfruit · 20/12/2021 13:46

Oh what a pain Kobani it's tricky using one kitchen esp. with 2 types of food philosophies. Your dm should 'get over it' as my eldest says. Have you got something nice to have in the freezer so she can feel jealous?

Sapats Annoyingly I had the mouse situation under control but of course I've been away! We live in an ancient stone house so blocking ALL the mouse sized entrances and exits is not possible! There is one type of humane trap that does work though!

B. Smoothie from yesterday
L. HM soup heated with Kamut toast, Some nice chocx we bought for Xmas but they'll be finished by then!
S. Dried pea dip (i've had to use some of the cupboard ingredients but it's delicious and easy). with ryvitas,

OP posts:
WildStallyn · 21/12/2021 14:15

B - just toast with Naturli spread
L - flatbread with hummus, brocolli, peppers, spinach, onions and pomegranate seeds

ppeatfruit · 22/12/2021 09:23

Wild I need some recipes for lentils esp. as I have had to rearrange the larder!

B. Finished smoothie a few walnuts
L. Ryvitas with pnut butter\yeast spread and HM salad with celery/onion,endive and mustard dressing.
S. HM Mixed butternut squash and leek dish with tamari and pnut butter sauce.

Hello everyone - think we’re all too busy to post much but just wanted to pop on to say mum acquiesced and said she knew whatever I made it would be good so we had a fully vegan FauxMas with our friends after all and this was the centre piece

Vegan no,4 What we eat every day !! Everyone welcome
PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 23/12/2021 08:15

@KobaniDaughters that looks AMAZING 🤩 Glad to hear your mum had a change of heart, and hope you're having a fab time with them over
@ppeatfruit - yay, you're baaaaack! What an emotional visit and time of year for you all. Sorry to hear you've come back to a mouse issue though. We had one earlier in the year in our garage (where I store lots of food). Grim, but we (DH!) managed to catch about 15 and release them a few miles away. Nothing for a few months now, but I'm more careful about how I store packets etc now.

@WildStallyn your flatbread sounds amazing

@SapatSea I love celeriac. We had Meera Sodha's celeriac risotto this week which was lush

@KobaniDaughters is right about being busy! Still a fair bit on my list that I want to do, but finished work last night and off until the 6th of Jan which is awesome. Braising red cabbage and icing the Christmas cake are on my list for today, with a chippy tea tonight

Yesterday was
L: shop bought pot of spinach and lentil dahl soup, beetroot
D: Richmond sausages, Yorkshire puddings, roast carrot and celeriac, peas, greens beans, broccoli and gravy

SapatSea · 23/12/2021 10:12

KobaniDaughters that pumpkin looks fantastic.
ppeatfruit your Kamut bread sounds interesting. Do you make it? I've not tried Kamut yet. Hope the mice have left or at least not making nuisances of themselves.

My most recent dinners were:
Courgetti with sun dried tomato pesto, pine nuts, olives, basil
Courgette and carrot Dal, lemony garlic spinach, roti
Chinese style cauliflower rice with tofu, edamame, peas, spring onion, pak choi, lots of ginger and garlic, white pepper, soy and japanese sesame oil.

ppeatfruit · 23/12/2021 10:31

Sapat I have used Kamut or Khorasan (in English!!) flour to make bread luckily, we can buy it here. Thanks for asking the mice have calmed a bit. But there were 2 in the humane traps this morning! We take them down to the field opposite . I suggested that we "mark' them somehow just in case they're playing games by running back here!!

Oh I love celeriac (and parsnips) too because I don't eat potatoes!

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 27/12/2021 08:39

Hello I hope you're all calming down (and got the washing and clearing up done after the madness of Xmas) i do appreciate only having to please ourselves and one cat after the many years of craziness. Though of course it's nice having an adult child or 2 to do the cooking and washing up (that was only occasionally of course).

B, Special smoothie with ground almonds, soaked mixed dried fruit. pears and pear juice, filtered water.
L. Chestnut soup made with the leftover vegan nut loaf and onion gravy. With fresh rye bread.
S. Chicory, carrot, shallot salad with ryvitas and usual spreads

KobaniDaughters · 31/12/2021 17:43

Eating and drinking and entertaining far too much (my parents are staying at the moment still)

Yesterday though we went out for ramen for lunch and then shared pretend chicken nuggets and chips for dinner! Putting on so much weight

ppeatfruit · 02/01/2022 10:02

I know what you mean about the weight Kobani I've got a few constructive ideas for that! It's nice to have family visits but it can get too much eventually unless they're, unobtrusively helpful Grin

B. Lemon, apples, apple juice\filtered water with o\n soaked sultanas. ground linseeds.
L. Pumpernickel/ with yeast spread and pnut butter rocket, herbs, olive oil garlic and onion salad.
S. Choc. pannetone snack. Bowl of spelt flakes with molasses and soya milk

OP posts:
Ostryga · 02/01/2022 18:00

I’m a lapsed vegan, but back on it for veganuary. Forgot how easy it is when I’m organised!
B - mushrooms, courgette and Richmand sausages (I could eat these all day every day Blush ) on toast with Naturli
L - wrap with Holy Moly smashed avo, grated carrot and courgettes, olives and lettuce.
Dinner will be gnocchi with roast veg and tomato sauce. Probably cherry Alpro for pud.
