That Morley terrace I put a link to a beginning of thread is 5 mins walk from Morley Train Station, 5 min Drive to White Rose Shopping Centre and 5 mins to 5 min drive to M62. 10 mins walk up to Morley Town Centre.

heart80s · 27/02/2021 10:37

The Farsley train station is actually in Stanningley between Pudsey and Farsley. Only a short walk from Farsley and around 12-14 minutes on the train into Leeds.

RampantIvy · 27/02/2021 13:14

I don't recall a station called Farsley, so I googled it. It is New Pudsey station, and is a couple of miles from the centre of Pudsey.

OutOfTheDoorNow · 27/02/2021 14:35

@tanguero

Rothwell, Pudsey, Morley, Garforth, East Arsdley. A lot of people on here .....who have made sure, they don't actually live in Leeds themselves. Why is that then ?
@tanguero Morley is fucking Leeds.

And maybe by living in Morley (and name changing for this thread) we might know something about the neighbouring places or maybe we have lived there but don't want to put too much information on this thread.

Local knowledge of Tingley/West Arsdley which is just over the border into Wakefield is Wakefield but some parts have a Leeds telephone number and come under Leeds council for school applications etc It may help to know that a large traveller fair takes place twice every year may help. My friend lives near the fair ground and I had no idea until I visited her house.

Just because someone says they want to move to Leeds doesn't mean they won't consider surrounding areas if they only need to commute into Leeds once a week or once a month.

Also Leeds.....architecturally, is the ugliest city in Britain wow you have actually visited every city to compare it? Must get about Wink

@ilovebrie8 you still haven't said whereabouts in the city centre you need to be. North? South? Near the train station? The city itself will take you a while to walk depending where the bus kicks you off.

Yes North Leeds is lovely but there are plenty of other places to live in Leeds and the surrounding areas. We relocated here 20 years ago as we have family here but Dh and I were born much further North.

You need to visit to get a feel for the place and know to avoid the red light district and that the airport has been given the initial go ahead for more night flights. Also start reading Yorkshire Evening Post online or Leeds Live to get an idea of where the crime is happening Grin

I work in pudsey and used to get the train from the other side of leeds, it’s a 20 min walk (uphill) from new pudsey station to the centre of pudsey. 15 mins or so on the train into Leeds station.
I bloody love pudsey but we’re priced out of living there.

Bambam2019 · 27/02/2021 15:26

Rodley is LS13 too and nothing like Bramley. Easy access to the canal and good for commuting by car though not much going on. Farsley literally 2 minutes up the road and there’s much more going on but slightly more expensive. Bramley is rough in parts but some areas are okay, the problem is the secondary schools that the local primaries fees into if that’s of relevance to you. Horsforth/Rawdon/yeadon/cookridge/adel/some pets of holt park all nice but under the flight path although for people living there a while it’s not noticeable. All good primaries and secondaries around there too.

Also avoid anywhere near Halton moor... I forgot to mention that... www.leeds-live.co.uk/news/leeds-news/inside-notorious-leeds-estate-chaos-19274442

ilovebrie8 · 27/02/2021 18:59

So much fab info on here! 😊thanks I’ll add Halton moor to the no go list @Oh12lookanothernamechange1234!

@ilovebrie8 you haven't really acknowledged the posts highlighting Wakefield. It's very quick into leeds city centre and has much better motorway connections. Lots of movement from leeds to wakefield due to prices, as someone said check out city fields development where there are a few house builders.

ilovebrie8 · 28/02/2021 09:32

We want to move to Leeds @Minnie888...Thanks for the the info though on Wakefield. All I know of Wakefield is when I’ve heard it mentioned on the news holding high profile prisoners in Wakefield prison...that’s my only knowledge of the place...

The new pudsey station is that walking distance from farsley?

OP posts:
RaelImperialAerosolKid · 28/02/2021 11:04

I would think probably - however both Farsley and Pudsey are quite big so again it depends. But there are also fast bus services that run into the centre from various points - and traffic might be better now everyone is permanently working from home.

ilovebrie8 · 28/02/2021 11:20

Thanks @RaelImperialAerosolKid

Are you talking about the new builds near Thorner because that area is fine?

picknmix1984 · 28/02/2021 11:26

I live chapel Allerton/ harehills border and I love it. You can pm me if needed.

ilovebrie8 · 28/02/2021 11:35

Hi @picknmix1984 I’m not sure as I don’t know the area...the new builds I was talking about in Seacroft are South Parkway, Seacroft LS14. I’ve also seen some other new builds in Seacroft at York Road in the grounds of Seacroft hospital....not sure that any of these locations are good and so many negative responses to Seacroft I think neither would be a good idea. Which of these is near Thorner? Thanks

OP posts:
picknmix1984 · 28/02/2021 11:47

They are on Red Hall Lane. It's not far from Seacroft so prices will be ok but it's a million miles away in terms of area. I drive past them daily. The estate and new houses here in a really good location and they are going to have the rest of the infrastructure too, improving roads etc.

ilovebrie8 · 28/02/2021 11:54

Thanks @picknmix1984I’ll have a look at red hall lane then...see if I can find them as they sound like an option for us

OP posts:
picknmix1984 · 28/02/2021 11:55

I couldn't tell you prices but worth checking out and will be close to York Rd that you talked about earlier.

cupofdecaf · 28/02/2021 12:05

There's an express bus at commuter times down the guided bus way in Scott hall road. It's handy for commuting.

You'll get what you're looking for in your budget around chapel Allerton and meanwood. Both have good cafes and bars and easy to get into town.

SingingSands · 28/02/2021 12:40

Horsforth is worth considering and there are quite a few houses in your budget (not new builds though). There are 2 train stations in Horsforth and regular buses to Leeds. I've lived here for 18 yrs now. It's a busy place, popular with families (good schools) and in normal times you're spoilt for choice for restaurants, bars, coffee shops etc. I'm not originally from Leeds but I really love living here and now my kids are teens I'm glad we stayed, they also benefit from the easy transport links to Leeds to enjoy gigs, shopping, events etc.
You have the canal and river here (can run and cycle to work along the canal) and beautiful countryside on the doorstep.
It's not a perfect idyll - traffic can be busy (although that's not been an issue for the last year), it's under the flight path for the airport (although given we've lived here for 18yrs we don't think it's an issue), burglaries do occur (we've been burgled) as it's seen as easy pickings (like any affluent area). But all things considered it's a really nice area of the city and popular for a reason.

heart80s · 28/02/2021 12:50

New Pudsey station can be a 5 minute walk from the top of Farsley or a 10 minute walk if you cut through the side streets. I live in Pudsey and like it. Lived in Farsley and Rodley too both lovely places. I love Horsforth for a meal/night out.

I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere off York Road.

ilovebrie8 · 28/02/2021 13:24

I’m thinking Horsforth or chapel Allerton might suit us...we’d prefer a new build which may not be possible in those locations!
