Thinking of moving to Leeds, saw some lovely new build houses in seacroft area...anyone know what it is like? Thanks

I would avoid Seacroft, it has a very bad reputation for crime and unemployment.

ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 18:44

Thanks @Monkeytapper...the new development houses look lovely but don’t like the sound of the area...is it really that bad? Odd they are building luxury homes in a rough area ...

The new houses being built there do look nice, but I would avoid it. Have a look at new builds in East Ardsley or Morley instead.

Monkeytapper · 25/02/2021 18:46

It’s just not a desirable place to live. Much nicer areas of Leeds.

Monkeytapper · 25/02/2021 18:47

I live in Morley and as above poster said much nicer there and East Ardsley.

RampantIvy · 25/02/2021 18:48

I'm surprised that Chapell Allerton is listed and Chapeltown isn't TBH. Generally, the areas to the North and West of Leeds are nicer.

Hoppinggreen · 25/02/2021 18:48

Nope, not Seacroft

heart80s · 25/02/2021 18:48

What's your budget and how many people moving?

ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 18:57

In thought Chapel Allerton was nice and trendy I read an article about that area..but that’s mentioned in the article

ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 19:00

What is Bramley like? There are two of us looking for house not a flat...

LarsErickssong · 25/02/2021 19:01

I wouldn't look at Seafroft either, if you are looking to be in that area of Leeds then Garforth is nice.

newmummy8789 · 25/02/2021 19:02

Bramley isn't great either!
What is your budget? Do you specifically want a new build?

FreezingTips · 25/02/2021 19:04

Thanks *@Monkeytapper*...the new development houses look lovely but don’t like the sound of the area...is it really that bad? Odd they are building luxury homes in a rough area ...
I imagine that the luxury homes are priced to reflect they are in Seacroft.
ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 19:04

I’d like a new build, 2 bedrooms budget up to £250k

OP posts:
MrsWooster · 25/02/2021 19:06

What’s your budget, any special requirements like garden etc or near parks, or specific locations for work? I can feel a mooch round rightmove coming on!

FreezingTips · 25/02/2021 19:07

I think you need to say how much money as prices vary so much around in Leeds. There’s no point suggesting North Leeds fo example unless you can afford at least £200k for a 2 bed

MonkeyPuddle · 25/02/2021 19:07

Bramley is okish, we live over the ring road. Pudsey, Morley and Ardsley you’ll find something nice for your budget, not sure if theyd be newbuilds though.
I wouldn’t live in seacroft.

newmummy8789 · 25/02/2021 19:10

Garforth is nice, redrow have a few developments, they're quite pricey but if you do help to buy they may have something?
Places on the outskirts, like sherburn in elmet, apperley bridge (technically Bradford though) have developments.
Strata have an estate in whinmoor which is ok, again I think they're pricey though but probably worth a look on each developers site...there are also deals to be done!

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 25/02/2021 19:12

I know the estate and it is on the outskirts of Seacroft on the road to York - to be honest it looks quite nice on the edge of the countryside. In Leeds a lot of 'bad' areas are side be side with good areas. Good transport links good shops - near cross gates for shopping and restaurants. Id definitely consider it.

ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 19:13

Thanks for the heads-up on seacroft the houses do look lovely...I got carried away with that Confused

OP posts:
ilovebrie8 · 25/02/2021 19:16

Ah just read @RaelImperialAerosolKid message so it’s is quite nice then?? Lot of negative reviews about Seacroft...

OP posts:
newmummy8789 · 25/02/2021 19:16

@RaelImperialAerosolKid

I don't think they are that development is finished I think it's the ones on York road OP is talking about, next to seacroft hospital

lowbudgetnigella · 25/02/2021 19:18

Where do you need to be for work? Get more for your money in Bradford postcode like lovely Saltaire on train line in to Leeds 15 mins

Hoppinggreen · 25/02/2021 19:20

@ilovebrie8

In thought Chapel Allerton was nice and trendy I read an article about that area..but that’s mentioned in the article
Chapel Allerton is nice, it’s probably mentioned in that article because some not so nice bits come under the same postcode
