You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@TheHoneyBadger we seem to have more older years in too. The year 7s are being lovely and getting on with their work whereas years 9-11 are treating the whole thing as one big social. What's worse is now all the kids who aren't engaging remotely (about 100) are being told they'll have to come into school if they won't work at home. Most of them don't come under the kwv category so we're essentially filling the building with lazy kids who shouldn't technically be there

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 28/01/2021 16:46

That was me as SENCO in a village school. If you've got a few struggling families, with lots of children, it's frickin hard going from an 'amateur social worker' point of view.

Medra · 28/01/2021 16:46

That’s awful. Sending love x

Medra · 28/01/2021 16:46

@CarrieBlue my post was d’or you. Forgot to tag you.

CallmeAngelina · 28/01/2021 16:49

Oh God yes! I remember the toilet threads! Still traumatised by the abuse some of us got for saying we would refuse to do so.
I wonder what happened to the poster with "the husband" who ran a bootcamp school and said this, that and the other bollocks all the time. His teaching staff not only had to clean toilets throughout the day, but also had to cook and serve up lunches to all children as well.
Oh lordie and remember the buckets of water and gazebo thread?

thecatfromjapan · 28/01/2021 16:52

herdy best wishes for your FiL.

chocolateisavegetable · 28/01/2021 16:52

This was my favourite post on Noble 's toilet thread:

I think its very effective teaching to conduct an assembly whilst defrosting lunch as the kitchen is off the main hall in msny schools. Its also good to do a PE lesson from the roof whilst fixing the guttering as the extra height gives an overview of the game. Multi tasking needs to be modelled Grin Grin

Was this posted on here? So sad awful.

thecatfromjapan · 28/01/2021 16:59

😂 @ noble's 'threads for all occasions'.

I'm getting a sense of the madness I've missed.

I'm experiencing something quite strange reading your posts about safeguarding and support in schools, though. I really think it's awful. I think there's just something dreadful about being in that situation.
I think we get through it because we are focused on the child at the centre - but don't really appreciate that it also has an effect on us.
And I also think we're so used to this, we're normalising a bizarre situation, where schools (and their staff) are being used to deliver support and services that really shouldn't be in their remit.
rule and chocolate, those are dire situations.

Do you have a book of nobleisms?
chocolateisavegetable · 28/01/2021 17:07

MrsH what a great idea - we could make a fortune selling such a book!

Timeturnerplease · 28/01/2021 17:08

No teacher spouse here, but does anyone else have a work out of the house spouse

Yes, he has a physical job too so lots of ‘you’re tired? But you’ve been working from the sofa?’. Keeps leaving me ‘jobs’ like going to the tip, which I of course don’t have time to do. He’s lucky he does all the cooking tbh, otherwise I’d have snapped before now.

Luckily I have trained our toddler to shout DADDEEEEEEEEE if she has a nightmare, so I have my revenge 😂

thecatfromjapan · 28/01/2021 17:11

That thread, noble! 😮

CarrieBlue · 28/01/2021 17:12

@Medra - thanks

Cantaloupeisland · 28/01/2021 17:14

As I'm in school every day it's other half wfh who is getting the slightly passive aggressive 'no time to pick your pants up off the floor then?' comments I'm afraid Grin

MrsHamlet · 28/01/2021 17:14

I'm thinking noble on tour... provincial theatre. T-shirts and other merchandise. We could call it ^noble and the enemies of education" and have warm up acts. Flog signed copies of the book. Use the funds to close down schools forever.

Piggywaspushed · 28/01/2021 17:17

I am not going to call him out on twitter but this guy is a headteacher. A HEADteacher. Would you work for him??

GravityFalls · 28/01/2021 17:17

Remember me getting in the bad books with my HoD on the first day back because I wouldn’t go and do INSET with the whole department in one room? Well, her H (who is also in the dept) just tested positive, and she and DC are feeling ropy...he’s ok I think thankfully but maybe this will make her realise we’re not bloody immune just by power of will and I was right! Also, she was in work for CMT meeting on Monday because they did their staff briefing from the same room...(spaced out but facing each other round a conference table). Their stupid attitude has pissed me off since the start so I don’t have much sympathy tbh. Although I hope nobody suffers obviously.

chocolateisavegetable · 28/01/2021 17:28

Yes MrsH !

I fancy writing a rap song to the tune of "I like big butts and I cannot lie" which features the lyrics "I hate kids and I cannot lie", and we should of course join together in a rendition of " We You don't need no education"

chocolateisavegetable · 28/01/2021 17:29

Oh, and not forgetting the Alice Cooper classic "School's out FOR EVER"

lonelyplanet · 28/01/2021 17:35

From today's PHE surveillance report. What a surprise that the age groups socially mixing the most in Primaries and Nurseries have the highest positivity. Yet somehow they magically don't transmit it to staff.

A headteacher in 7 years. Don’t need to say more really

JanuaryChill · 28/01/2021 17:55

Oh you lot cheer me up - just been completing cremation forms. They are very detailed.... which is obviously a good thing!

Can I be in the backing group??

TheHoneyBadger · 28/01/2021 17:58

Hope you're ok January.

I do remember the buckets of water craziness and we did actually get a marquee but for an extra lunch space not a bloody classroom.

The phrase 'can do attitude' will forever bring back memories of those dickheads.

chocolateisavegetable · 28/01/2021 17:58

January of course you can! and Flowers
